I'm hoping folks can help me solve a problem.  I'm about halfway through my current playthrough, and I can't get the leadin dialogue to Leilana's personal quest to trigger.  I unfortunately raised her approval status to 78 (adore), which I understand can bug out the quest, but even after lowering her approval back below 70, when I try to ask her about something, there's nothing there.  Has anyone had this problem, and is there any way to fix it?  Manually lowering approval using the console doesn't help :/, even though I got her back down to 'Care'.

This is weird. I had this problem before, but I lowered her approval using the Feastday prank and it seemed to do the trick.

You'd probably be able to mod it to flip the flag you broke, if you're on PC and know what you're doing. But fix it naturally within the game? Don't know. :/

Thanks for the replies; I'm going to go back to an earlier save and try to figure out how to shave 8 points off her approval naturally (I don't have the feastday pack :/) and see if that fixes the problem.  I've used two different mod scripts and got the rep set back to 'Care'/64 approval but still get the "looking for little old me?" when I initiate conversation which suggests it isn't actually fixed.  I may have to break off her romance and see if that works...

Do you have any mods that affect her dialogue installed? I recall at least once running into the issue of some of her dialogue not showing up properly because of mods conflicting.

No, I have no mods at all, only the console enabled (to try to fix the problem via approval/romance state).

It's just odd because when I do the "I'd like to ask you about something" there are no dialogue choices AT ALL, regardless of whether her approval has been modded or not.

I'm sure you've done this already, but just in case: You have taken her outside of camp, right?

 

Usually with Leliana, I talk to her directly out of Lothering, get her approval up to where the first plot bonus flags, then take her somewhere with me. Then when you return to camp she'll talk about how she lied to you about her past. Then the next time you take her somewhere you'll get ambushed.

Yes, I've tried talking to her in camp, out of camp, going up and down the road after a rep change... it's odd because I did not have this problem in my last recent playthrough, and I've already finished 'Broken Circle' and "the Urn of Sacred Ashes, so really not looking forward to replaying that much of the game :/.

Make sure you've got the latest patch installed.  The wiki said there was a bug that was addressed by at least the 1.04 patch on PC.

I had that problem in one playthrough. It was the result of a bug where I got her approval high enough but didn't have the appropriate dialogue, had it with her in camp, lowered her approval, raised it again, and the quest never happened.
