Hello all, just had a few quick questions about the new release date:

Will the new release date push the release date for the Keep or will it still release in September?

Also, does this mean that DAI will have to compete with the Witcher? I don't personally care about the Witcher so I'm not sure what day it's suppose to come out.

Sorry if this is already out there somewhere.

Update: Thanks for all the responses, I was really just trying to find out how the new release date would play out with everything. I got a helpful response from Bioware about the Keep on the first page. The thread kinda took on a life of it's own talking about the Witcher though, my bad.

Thhe witcher isn't even out till nhext year so no if things stay on track with DA:I and doesn't get push back more, plus two very different styles of rpgs.

The Devs have yet to say anything about the keep.

Could have missed something, just my thoughts on the matter.

DA:I was always going to compete with Witcher 3. This delay doesn't change that. They're the two most sought-after RPG's of the coming year (I know DA:I comes out this year, but very late).

For all we know, Witcher 3 might also get delayed. Nothing is finite with game development.

Keep looks like it's going to get bumped as well... From Twitter:

User

has the release of DAKeep been delayed as well or will we still get access to it in approximately September 2014

Fernando Melo @DiscoBabaloo

Still looking, but likely it will bump out as well.

The witcher 3 is coming out next year, and the keep is also going to be delayed.

I don't really see games coming out with a half year difference between them has competing.  Sure both games will be compared to each other but it's not like CoD/Battlefield where people will only buy and play one of them.  By the time Witcher 3 comes out I'll have played the hell out of Inquisition and be looking forward to playing something new.

Aye. Then when finishing the witcher 3. Time to play Inquisition again

Competition must be more immediate in my opinion.

DAI and Shadow of Mordor were directly competing fantasy RPGs.

You might play both at some point if you love fantasy RPGs but one of them would win on launch date.

DAI moves to a less crowded time period later in November.

The issue now is are people playing other things already that keep them away from a day one purchase.

Assassins Creed V might but 3 weeks is probably just enough gap for those pumped about both to clear ACV by November 18.

Then there's Halo and Far Cry 4, but those are straying away to the FPS crowd.

3 months gap to the Witcher. No issue.

Don't know why people keep trying to do a DA versus Witcher thread.  It's like we can't exist together unless there is some conflict.

Da and witcher are coming out in different years there is no competition. Its not like cod vs bf. Don´t see why people think its a fight between these two when there not even coming out in the same year.

The Witcher 3 was originally suppose to come out this year, but it was delayed until early 2015 (Feb 24 to be exact). It was a smart move from CD Projekt, seeing how they can self publish their games & run the risk doing so. DAI needs more than a month to properly compete with the Witcher 3, and even then, CD Projekt are in their golden age. There once was a time when BioWare held the title of Master & CD Projekt was their apprentice. Now, their titles have reversed. CD Projekt are the Masters & BioWare is just playing catch-up.

Bioware is dealing with the headache of releasing the game on last gen consoles, while also utilizing Frostbite 3 for the first time to develop their games. CD projekt red is doing neither of these things, not to mention both their previous games have been of the same kind(MR-open world), so very little to build from the ground up. I don't think the competition is fair.

Eh. That's a matter of opinion. CD Projekt are yet to make a game that interests me, whereas I've bought everything BIoWare has put out. (Except Shattered Steel. That was before my time.)

Which doesn't mean that I think BioWare are winning some imaginary war. Their 'rivalry' seems to exist largely in the minds of some fans. Some people will like both, some people will like one or the other. It's all a matter of taste.

There's a span of several months between their release dates. I don't think their directly competing as much as some seem to think.

All I know is that I'm getting both, so ultimately I win.

well in my understanding 'war' it is when you have to pick sides. like you may have DAI but you can't have W3, so you have to choose between these two.

however this is not how things are, you may have both products.

sales however is another story.

i will exaggerate now. but from the looks of it, when W3 have decent combat mechanics, DAI offers romances. and in this particular case - i will pick W3.

We're still discussing what impact this will have on the Keep. See https://twitter.com/...696310974566401

In terms of competition with the Witcher, the witcher is slated for a February 2015 release, and DAI is November 2014, so there isn't a whole lot of overlap there.

The only competition that will transpire are fans' comparison between each game and which is arguably better. The sale numbers will hardly hurt any parties, I'd believe.

No competition, they be like brothers, like Abel and Cain.....no wait a minute.

Seriously though both great game series so i for one will enjoy both regardless of their release dates.

A smart marketing move would be to hold out on release of the Keep even if it they finish before October and release it will the delayed timeline some time in late October. I'm betting this might happen. As for Witcher being competition for DA:I, I think it is more so something the next DA will have to aspire toward after both games have been released and DA realizes what it lacks, and what it has over Witcher. So long as what it lacks doesn't translate into another Hawke: DA 2.

Furthermore, a good marketing team would give the OK to tease out some of the Keep's options. And yes, I worked in marketing...

To me, there is to competition between the Witcher and DAI.

One let's you craft your own character and gives you a real connection to your character.

The other lazily forces a dumb character down your throat and expects you to feel a connection to him.
