About a week ago I completed a new canon DAO game (yeah I'm just going through the whole thing again, did DAO and Awakening, moving to DA2 this week-end probably) and I wanted to import it to DA2. But I'm getting a bit confused about something concerning Alistair. In my DAO game Alistair killed the Archdemon and die as a result.

 

Now... I do clearly remember that when I first played DA2 that at some point I saw Alistair (a very short scene if I recall correctly). The "problem" is that when I played my first DA2 play-through (the one I saw Alistair in) I had also imported an older DAO save in which Alistair also killed the Archdemon (I always took that decision, or rather let him go kill the Archdemon in all my DAO games so far).

 

So, hmmm...

 

If in my DAO game Alistair kills the Archdemon and then dies, is he supposed to appear in DA2 anyway? Is that a known bug?

Seems to be... There are some out there that makes the decisions made in DA:O/A all wonky in DA2. Hopefully Keep, and its incarnations, fixes this for all future games.

That does sound bizarre...so far, I only imported saves where 'stair is sent off to the gallows and the Ritual is done, and that was recognized fine in DA2 as I never saw him appear again. Odd this doubtlessly more popular decision does not likewise get checked off.

If Alistair perishes in DAO then he should not appear in DA2.

It's all due to how the game looks at the flags on the save file when importing, which it doesnt do so well. Which is why the keep will be great.
