In honor of TheTechnoTurian's call to arms, RustyBuckets02 and I played a Gold duo on Condor, using Fat Turians with Phaestons. Rusty was the Soldier and I was the Sentinel.
Rusty made fun of me for taking the Acolyte as a sidearm, but a true Turian knows a good weapon even if it does come from outside the heirarchy. And as we drew Cerberus, the Acolyte was helpful to take down Atlas shields and against Phantoms and Dragoons.
Lobby Picture
The first waves were a bit rougher than they should have been, as we spent too much time in Condor's deadly center area. Also we're both a bit out of practice with this game. Eventually we got into a rhythm.
Wave 3: Packages -- I don't recall any particular difficulties here.
Wave 6: Targets -- In an attempt to switch targets, I managed to Missile... nothing at all. @%$^&! I don't know when I started sucking with the Missile Launcher. Anyway we ground down the Atlases with weapons instead.
Wave 10: Escort -- The drone started at the LZ and actually wanted to go to the upper platform with the crates, but I thought it wanted to go to the extraction zone. (Cue ominous music.)
We had only escorted it a little ways before we were getting swarmed by Phantoms, so we ran over to the big hill at the other side of the map to draw the enemies away. After a while we ran back to the drone and managed to escort it near the wrecked Mako. Another swarm of Phantoms dropped us both, and after we both Medi-Gel'd, Rusty got stabbed... I was able to run away to the big hill again.
At this point I saw the enemies coming up the upper platform, and thought that was OK, because I was still under the impression that the drone wanted to go to the extraction zone. Until I realized my mistake and Rusty deadpanned that having an Atlas and two Phantoms right where the drone wanted to end its journey would make things slightly more difficult.
Well, screw it; I just ran up in there and took cover behind some walls and crates while the Phantoms flipped around me and the Atlas couldn't figure out whether to missile me or ground-pound me. In the confusion the drone finished its upload and I attempted a cleanup Missile... only to again fail and only kill the Atlas, not the Phantoms.
At this point you can imagine the Benny Hill music as I ran around the map, got dropped by Phantoms twice, and somehow managed to survive. (The Acolyte was pretty helpful.) Against the last Atlas I decided to make things extra exciting by peeking too far out of RHA and getting health gated!
Wave 11 Extraction -- I had some Ops Packs left but no Gel. We held the hill for a while and I Acolyte'd many Phantoms and Dragoons. I died and Rusty revived me somehow. With seconds to spare we dropped into the extraction zone where I used a pre-emptive Ops Pack to protect against Phantom pew-pews.
Mission Successful!
