A good amount of time certainly.

Then I'll make a point of screenshotting or noting the settings so I can recreate it if needed.

There is a site to save your faces, though can't recall the link.

A very long time, as I imagine this game will have over 100+ total game play hours, including all side stuff and DLC.  I need to make sure the character is great!

I am torn between making myself in game (using several pictures of my face directly on-hand from different angles for reference) or just being creative and making somebody who fits the role.

I guess with the game being delayed until November 18th, I'll have more time to ponder that decision.

A lot. A lot, a lot.

I spend way too much time in the character creator. I'll mess around with the features for a long time, going through all the options. Then I'll try to make a character. Spend a lot of time working on it and try getting everything just right. After that there will be something I don't like and I'll change presets to restart, then instantly regret doing that. Repeat all these steps over and over. Then I'll move on to the next screen (usually picking talent points), not like the face from that angle, go back and fix it. Repeat this process about three times, and then get in to the game. See my character in a cut scene and find something wrong: start above all over again. unu

Yeah...But if I'm going to see this character for 150+ hours, they better look amazing!

2 hours Minimum.

Probably 1 more if there are too many Options.

1 more if I can't decide on a name.

2-4 hours. Then even more if I'm not happy with the result ingame and recreate the character to make some small changes.

It depends on the CC. I always got the perfect face for male Hawke's in DA2, but I sometimes had to restart DAO a few times because I thought the mouth was either too wide or the cheekbones weren't great, etc.

So it will depend for me how the CC is gonna turn out.

Far too long, only to start the game get into a cut scene and find out that my make-up makes me look like a cheap clown. This will probably happen at least twice.

As long as it takes until the character looks (imo) good. I've had games where I only needed a few minutes for that, but I've also played games where it took me an hour or two to make it happen. I'm curious how it'll be with DA:I. At least I already know the names I want my various characters to have. That's definitely going to save me time in the CC. :D

Just the face? Maybe as much as an hour.

Crafting the backstory and planning out both the personality and the skills could take days, however. That's why I like the mechanics to be released early: so I can get started.

Depends , for ME I went with default , same with DA2. So for DAI if there is decent default I go with it. If not I make similar to DA2 coz it looks like Leonidas from 300 so badass....would be even more epic if can wield spear...oh well

It usually takes me about 30 to 45 mins to get the basic look down, another 30 mins or so tweaking. Maybe another 10-15 mins deciding what hair, in DAO I have like 40 or so hairs it seems and I keep going back and forwards over them. Then another 10 mins or so choosing a name.

I usually pick a default and make minor changes, i.e., eye color, hair color/style, make up, nose, cheek bones and jaw. It usually ends up taking 10-15 minutes. I think it will take longer for DA:I though. With scars being added and picking inner and outer eye color (eye color is important feature for me).  :)

It really depends, sometimes I get luck and find it really easy and only spend 15 minutes or so, sometimes into an hour.  I do love my character creators though, they're just so fun.  My only frustration is when I create what I think is my perfect character but then get in game and notice a "deformity" or imperfection that I didn't see before so I have to go back and reload to do it allll over again lol.  Its usually the chin or cheekbones or mouth....that's why I now usually try not to fiddle too much.  ^_^

My first character I'm not too big on the details. I usually pick medium brownish/black messy hair, medium stubble, blue eyes -- slight adjustments to the facial features. I just want to get into the game explore it and enjoy it. After I've done a playthrough I add more details to my characters' backstory and looks often taking hours creating them.

I think DAO took me about 15 minutes tops, because one of the presets reminded me of my KOTOR PC so I just went with that. I think the only time-consuming aspect of DAI's character creator is going to be deciding just how old I want my Inquisitor to look.

As long as it takes to make the Inquisitor look as close as to me as possible. I do it with all games that have a CC.

For my first few characters I foresee *closes eyes and makes fart sounds with her mouth*  ... too dang long.

After all, I want to see how many choices we have for each race.  Then after seeing my character in action I may not like what I see while interacting with the environments.  Did that a lot in Dragon Age 2 and with my males in Dragon Age Origins. That is why I hope we will get the CC before launch, but if not I will not be too hurt.  I do have the tendency to have too many characters at once at first.

I tend to get the proportions wrong and end up looking like my character has anorexia.

It's why I love presets. I just wish they made presets editable. Origins did, but ME and DA2 did not.

The character creation is one of my favourite parts of the game. I love designing my characters and it actually pains me to pick the default.

Although, admittedly I found that the default for the Female Hawke is far better looking than all of my puffy cheeked attempts. Picked to play her for one of my playthroughs but it bothered me that I didn't design her myself.

Thinking about getting my hands on the DAI CC makes me salivate a little.

....I'm not crazy.

About 30 minutes if it's a character I'm serious about such as my canon 'goody' run or 'no compromise' run, usually end up being complex characters. Any run where I have a clear vision on how to play my character I can speed on through  the CC quickly. For DA:O I had a 'ruthless' run where the purpose was to have my companions get killed of/leave and in that case I tried to make my character has fugly as possible so it only took me 5 minutes :P

A friend of mine and I nickname character creation as "giving birth". A testimony to how grueling it can be to nail that perfect look and name for your new girl/boy
