Hello there. I have a question about NBA 2k14. I am wondering how can I prevent or how can I not be placed in the starting lineup and still play as sixth man or role player for the first season? I mean I go to the game and do absolutely nothing and it still increases my game minutes. Is there any way to stay on the bench for the first season?

Also, is there a way to make my player receive a serious injury like torn ACL or something serious?

Also, When I edit the game sliders, it has no effect on the mycareer. what is wrong?

I play on pc. Thank you for your helpfulness and answers in advance.I said once but then I said now that I am asking, lets ask them all. lol

Still too easy to get into the starting lineup eh? I haven't played NBA 2K14's MyCAREER yet (and probably never will with 2K15 coming out) but the game is probably just programmed that way. I don't think there's a way to prevent that.

The problem is that you should be playing franchise mode.

yeah. like with rhe overall of like 65 for example you go against Westbroook or Kobe Or James. And they just fly past you.

Yeah. If you don't have the skills to compete equally you shouldn't be in the starting lineup. I wonder if Visual Concepts has ever thought about tying whether or not you start to your overall. I know it's not programmed that way already. I got into the starting lineup in 2K13 after like ten games.

Yeah.. Pretty much like that in 2k14. But the good thing about 2k13 was like by choosing 3pt specialist and doing larry bird training camp, you could become a force to recon with from the start and pile up SP`s. But here the most you get by choosing that play style is 72 so yeah. And by choosing other focused playing style, lik say, scoring, other stats become so low that they are practically useless. And there is this bug that sometimes the game skips from all star weekend onward that takes away 28 potential matches and at the very least 6000 sp`s. not to mention the achievements that get left behind.

Is there no 2K forum you can post your question in?

It would probably garner better results asking there than here.

Yeah I heard that All Star Weekend bug was still in. Got a chance to see it when a friend brought 2K14 over. Something in their code is just off when it comes to MyCAREER. That's a major issue that should've been fixed considering how popular MyPlayer/MyCAREER has been.

Probably. A forum's a forum though. There's some NBA 2K fans here. Operation Sports is a good place to ask too but I'm not sure the issue is all that fixable no matter where the OP get help from. More often than not MyCAREER just doesn't give you the time to build up your stats before throwing you to the wolves, because it seems to be programmed to get you into the starting lineup quite early. At least, in my experience.

yeah exactly that. Operation sports does seem to be right place. I have tried there but no one answers. lol

I hope 2k15 is better in at least these 2 issues. Although I am not sure if my pc hardware can handle it.

And as our friend said, they should call the mycareer  myfranchise instead. lol

1) I'm not entirely sure on this one, but I don't believe that's possible. I think you'll be inserted into the starting lineup eventually, regardless of rating or performance. It's all part of the "story" arc for your player.

2) The only injures/illnesses you'll encounter are scripted. I don't you can be seriously injured.

3) Custom sliders are only applicable in exhibition games and MyGM. The only sliders you can use in MyCareer are "default" and "simulation," and with good reason. If they opened it up, people would set all their isht on 100 and dominated MyCareer.

I quit on MyCareer and 2K14 in general a month or so ago after playing it quite a bit when I purchased it. That game is broken and so is MyCareer; free agency doesn't even exist in MyCareer. Free agency. Then there's the VC system, which is a whole separate can of worms. I'm hoping NBA Live 15 delivers, but I know better than to rely on that.

I was planning on testing free agency in this save that I have, which I hope does not get the all star weekend bug again. But are you telliing me that I should resign instead of testing free agency? how this free agency eve work really? I searched for it but got nothing. could you explain?I play for Uta.

There is no re-signing. There is no free agency. They don't exist, and 2K decided that it wasn't big enough of a deal to fix in a patch. After four years of MyCareer, you begin to play without a contract at all. The only way to play for different teams is to ask for a trade, and there's a ridiculous system you have to follow just to get traded to the team you want to play for.

That sucks man. really. I only once resigned with timberwolves in the third season which was my team option supposedly. But my save got corrupted so I started from the beginning again. Funny there is this option of"contract extension" and "testing free agency" in the gm sit down topics.

my man, how about 2k13? does it have the same problems as nk14? or does any free agency or contract extension exist there?

Ah, I see now. PC must have the same MyCareer that the 360 and PS3 has. I didn't think about that until I read this post. For some odd reason I was assuming the PC version was like Xbox One and PS4 version. You're fine, then. You won't have to deal with everything I've experienced on Xbox One.

Cool. So my contract does expire after the third season nd I CAN test free agency and stuff. Thats cool man.  I a fan of lakers and I want to go there. But the team is old. And it does not have any player worthy for trades so I can ask them as a good player on the team to trade others to bring young talents like Oladipo or Burke or Carter Williams in the fourth season to the team. This Ua squad is going to be a beast in 2 or seasons. but still, dont like the team. any thoughts on this?

Yeah, you're fine. Nothing to worry about on your end.

I'd suggest monitoring their (the Lakers) moves with trades, in free agency and the draft before you come up for free agency. Make sure there are players on the team that you'll want to play with and fit the style you play, regardless of who you play for. Speaking of that, what position do you play? PG?

You know, in my current save, I have made a 6.8 small forward, someone like Lebron, for a change. But my favorite position is sg with my own height 5.11

Real talk, f*ck VC. I don't know what Visual Concepts was smoking when they decided to implement it (probably that good EA micro transaction kush) but the system is stupid. And I'm down for NBA Live making a triumphant return but I'm definitely not holding my breath. I gave up on the series wholeheartedly after NBA Live 07.
