To TTBG, any swordman worth his training, would laugh at idiot in that scene. Swinging a sword like a idiot deserves to be killed brutally.

Then there's the Peter Griffin solution, where you simply chuck a rock at his forehead and spend the next half an hour digging a shallow hole to dump him in.

But even a master swordsman would have been toast. Its a bad idea to bring blades to a gun fight.  B)

Don't make me come up again with that video of that Asian guy that slices a bullet in two with a sword.

:P

(it's far from a useable skill in actual combat, but still :P)

It is, and while he's slicing that one bullet, the next one is tearing through his torso.

That's why you stick your blade on your gun, no?

Exactly why I said it's far from a useable combat skill.

Don't think bayonet charges would work well regardless of numbers or terrain or cover. Rate of fire from what appear to be exceptionally powerful weapons would make it a suicide run for all concerned, hell by the time WW2 rolled around rate of fire was enough to put most advanced modern armies off even trying without some sort of cover from heavy weapons and they were slow by comparison, you could still hear each individual shot from most of those machine guns with only a few exceptions. For a more modern example the Iran Iraq war saw incredibly high casualty rates on the Iranian side as a direct result of their human wave attacks. But if you've got no ammo and want to go out like that I suppose it would make sense.

The only way I could see it working is if you're in close quarters and not by choice because your best bet is always going to be shooting the guy who wants to shoot you before he gets the chance to and in a world with biotics why wouldn't you simply throw or shockwave, biotic charge then nova, singularity then warp etc. Which is another problem, what happens when you get half way there and you're suddenly floating up and being thrown 20 feet into the air?

As far as the original post goes if it were to happen I'd want a Krogan out front, preferably one shouting "I. AM. KROGAN!"
