@Girtuoklis I'm not a big fan of Vivienne either...but you might want to edit your comment about her. Can be taken the wrong way.

His list is the black woman and the two gay companions. Pretty sure we're not taking it the wrong way.

Yup. He said the black companion looked like a monkey, said he'd stab the gay male companionn if he hit on him and said the lesbian companion didn't belong in his world..

That's exactly what I was thinking. There is no place for that kind of thing here, he needs to remove it or edit it unless he wants everyone to continue to get mad at him

It takes a lot for my characters to kill companions and we don't have any info at the moment that makes me think they will. (Though I admit Sebastian annoyed me so much I would have been very tempted if it were an option.) But sending them away? Yeah, I can see it happening. With the info we have now, I think my first character will dislike Vivienne quite a bit. But I see a lot more potential tension with the advisors and we can't tell them to take a hike  :P

In the bottom right corner of the post you want to quote there is a quote button.

I will probably have characters who do not want to recruit Iron Bull if he's all "BTW I'm an agent of the Qun". Cole may have a similar issue on some playthroughs depending on his introduction. I don't dislike the characters, but I'll only pick them up if it make sense for that particular Inquisitor.

My first Inquisitor will accept anyone and everyone - as far as she's concerned, anyone who wants to help her do this insane thing is welcome to try. That's usually how I roll the first time I play a game, because I want to get to know everyone.

I can certainly see subsequent characters killing or sending some companions away, though.

The only time I have ever considered murder knifing or telling someone to GTFO was with Sebastian. I didn't care for him and his preachy **** to begin with, but him (and the game) forcing me to choose between literally backstabbing someone or keeping him means he can take a long walk off a short cliff. And I wasn't too happy with Anders either, but I can understand why he did it even if I disagree with the timing. I'd admittedly have preferred to shank Sebastian over Anders, but I wasn't given that choice so I let him ragequit in a huff and said good riddance.

So, unless Inquisition does another railroaded choice situation like that, I won't be killing or booting out any companions. All companions thus far have had some sort of story-related usefulness to their presence, therefore I grit my teeth and put up with them no matter how much their views conflict with mine. That said, I do predict conflicts of interest, shall we say, among my Inquisitor and my companions, and my first few PTs will probably result in at least one quitting on me at some point or other. I'll do what I can to prevent those quits from happening in later PTs, but I'll probably roll with it the first few times since my main priorities will be figuring the general gist of the plots and setting until I'm comfy with it, and only then will I "metagame" a bit to keep my companions from disliking my Inquisitor (and come up with my usual character-consistency reasons for doing so in-game).

Why do so many people rather send Cole away? He reminds me a bit of Fenris. And on his character page, it basically states he won't side with people who use their powers for selfish reasons. Though I guess if you're playing more of an evil/ruthless inquisitor you might not want him.

Nobody, at least going on what I know so far. I rather keep as many people as I can ariund , especially for my first play through. Even if I'm not fond of them it can still be fun poking fun at them.

They'd have to do something of Anders proportions for me to kill them and be causing a heck of a lit if trouble for me to even think of sending them away.

I read something about him being possibly a spirit or demon, and I don't think I want to take my chances with an unknown creature on the team.  Also, he apparently has committed many murders or... I guess assisted suicides?  I don't know, he seems off.

Edit:  And after reading that I realized just how much I was metagaming... okay, nevermind all that.  If Cole seems like a creepy, inhuman murderer when the inquisitor meets him, then I'll decide not to bring him.  If he seems normal, I'll just let him join and deal with any problems that might arise later on.

It always amazes me how many people see companions dying as some kind of non-standard game over. It is one of the best things about the game, and a fantastic way to make the world state more personal.

Especially with all of the unstable/insidious elements that the Inquisition seems to attract, I imagine I will be doing a lot of... pruning... before my first playthrough is finished.

My personal motives are more about the challenge (the friend/rival system in DA2 sure was difficult) of befriending everyone, and my in-game motives are generally because my PCs are the "No one (who isn't terrible) dies on my watch if I can help it!" sort, and companion presence can generally help that goal rather than hinder it. It's not so much a "game over/redo" for me as it is a way to get the most out of the game from a player perspective and generally trying to do the right things in-game.

Eh gads!  No one.  I want all the companions and advisers to all be a big happy squishy family by the end, and everyone lives happily ever after.  It won't happen, but that's the plan!

Am I the only one who never wants to kill people just because I find them slightly annoying?

It's a little disturbing that the first questions after a companion has been revealed is usually "Can I sleep with them?" and/or "Can I kill them?"

If the companions get annoyed with me then they're free to leave, but I'd prefer to have everyone on my team until the end regardless of whether we see eye to eye.

If they attack me then it's another matter.

i will play as male elf/kossith mage(want to play as blood and battle mage but devs does not give blood magic) still not sure what specialisation would use...necromancy, rift or battle mage

my Inquisitor will try to wipe without mercy and compromise any of those faction and their members if i can

1)Orlais Empire(execute both Celine and Gaspar) with their Bards and Chivaliers,

2)Orlais Chantry,

3)Orlais Templars/Seekers,

4)Antivan Crows,(if they would be in DAI)

5)Qunari(if they would be in DAI)

6)Darkspawns(if they would be in DAI)

7)Demons who will not serve me and would be useless(no matter what i will execute Cole)

my inquisitor will try to help and side with

1)mages

2)dalish and city elfs

3)dwarfs

4)grey wardens

5)Tevinters/Nevarrans/non-andrastian barbarians/Tal-Vashot-any enemy of Orlais, Qunari and Darkspawns and who will not be enemy of my allies

so what i will do with companions and advisors if i can

Cassandra-enemy,kill

Cullen-enemy,kill

Cole-enemy,kill

Lelianna-enemy,kill

Dorian-enemy or neutral, but i do not like him so i would rather send him away or execute..the only interest is some info about Tevinter but for me i think that he would not be more then fenris and would whine somethink like how Tevinter society does not aprove gay marriage and does not give him title magister because he would think and whine to us that "he deserve it"...yeah i doubt that this "exile with shame"(с) who is not a magister is a good source of info...he even look silly especially with his stupid moustache and qoutes about "looking fabulous"(с)...he is a clown

Iron Bull-friend or neutral but only before he will betray me for Qun so i would kill him

Vivienne-neutral, but i do not like her so i would rather send her away

Scribbles-neutral, but i do not like her so i would rather send her away

Varric-neutral, but i am tired of him from DA2

Blackwall-friend

Sera-i would like to romance her but because she will never love a male elven mage so she will be just a friend

Solas-friend

No, the only character I've wanted to kill is Anders because of what he did in DA2.

A thread like this seems to me it's asking for hateful comments.

Anyway, I won't kill anyone based on what we know so far. I've never even met most of these people as a player, and I can't decide to kill or send someone away based on how I've heard they're like.
The only person I've ever voluntarily killed in the games is Anders. And that was only because he's an extreme case.
