Anyway, I won't kill anyone based on what we know so far. I've never even met most of these people as a player, and I can't decide to kill or send someone away based on how I've heard they're like.
The only person I've ever voluntarily killed in the games is Anders. And that was only because he's an extreme case.

I had much more difficulty choosing whether to spare or kill Loghain. I've only ever spared Anders once (mage romance) and it just felt so wrong.

Am I the only one who never wants to kill people just because I find them slightly annoying?

It's a little disturbing that the first questions after a companion has been revealed is usually "Can I sleep with them?" and/or "Can I kill them?"

If the companions get annoyed with me then they're free to leave, but I'd prefer to have everyone on my team until the end regardless of whether we see eye to eye.

If they attack me then it's another matter.

You aren't the only one. My trigger finger only itches for the actual bad guys, or if someone on my side does something horrible. Otherwise... I do find it slightly odd so many people seem to want to kill people who look at them the wrong way... not to mention we only have an idea of what these characters are like so far. xP

Why do so many people rather send Cole away? He reminds me a bit of Fenris. And on his character page, it basically states he won't side with people who use their powers for selfish reasons. Though I guess if you're playing more of an evil/ruthless inquisitor you might not want him.

maybe its because he's a murderer with the mentality of a child xD

Creatures from the fade tend to be unreliable and unstable. There is no real diffrence between a demon and a spirit, the nature of demons just is apparent from the go.

I would withhold judgment on Cole for now. Gaider has said that Weekes' interpretation is very different from the character in Asunder.

Cole is an awesome character, because he puts my paternal instinct at odds with my self-preservation instinct. I don't think any character has done that before.

The only time I've ever wanted to kill a companion was Sebastian and that's because he literally just said he was going to raise an army and come back to sack Kirkwall and kill me. In general, I've never killed or sent away companions unless I'm forced to. The only companion I've ever killed was Loghain.

If any companions leave or are killed this time, it will be because of unavoidable story reasons. I won't totally change how I want to handle a quest line to keep a companion if it's just that we don't agree, but so far it hasn't been a problem. If it's possible to make the choice I want without the character leaving if they're just not there, then I'll just not take them. I don't like the Qun and I'm pro-mage/pro-elf, so if anyone leaves, it would be over those issues, I imagine.

Same here Cher, I can never understand it, I suppose for rp'ing an absolute dick it's understandable, but I can't do that either so... but some people are obssessed with it, it gets quite disturbing.

The only one I want to kill is Leliana (once), just to see if she'll stay dead or if she has magical plot armor still. :P

Maybe I'll let Dorian do the honors...

Oh I forgot about Loghain. I've never spared him, actually.

But I was more or less talking about companions. Oh and I've let Isabela be taken by the Arishok. Case of the extreme as well.

It depends. Revas won't murder the humans on her side, but she won't care that much about keeping them alive. Issala will try to be a good leader, meaning she'll try to make sure everyone makes it. Hayden will generally act in his own interest. Samahl won't kill anyone unless he has to. Meraad... I dunno. Haven't worked out his personality too much yet.

From a metagaming perspective, I really dislike Cullen. The same goes for anyone else on my team with anti-mage and/or anti-elf beliefs/tendencies. Doesn't mean I'll kill them, but I'll probably care less if they die.

I'll prolly send everyone I can away in one playthrough or another (like when I try to solo the game as a challenge to myself).

As for getting rid of certain companions and why, well, it depends entirely on the context. Let's say I'm playing a Templar Radicalist Inquisitor who firmly believes all mages should be gutted, or at the very least get the brand. I doubt Solas, or Viv, or really even Cassandra would be non-too-tickled by that notion. The context behind a characters creation and the characters personalities, wants, desires, and ambitions is what will set the tone for who and who does not get into the Inquisition.

A good example of this is in DA:O. I played a Mage who loathed apostates, or blood magic, or pretty much anything Anti-chantry. I dropped Morrigan like a bad habit, left Sten to rot, and formed a proper group of Pro-Circle/Chantry in the order of Alistair, Wynne, and Leliana. Zevran I let live, but he was camp bound and eventually betrayed me. Shale I let live but can't really remember if I gave any indication I believed she deserved her freedom (think I did, but whatever). And Oghren... well, every Hero needs his dwarf, I just made sure to keep him downwind and specced him into Templar so he'd be a closet Andrastian (head canon, huzzah).

Anyway, I suppose the point is context. Need to have it, and until we learn these companions stories, I can't really say yea of nay. But I can say strudel.

Based on Asunder, Cole's the one i would want to kill.

I'll give them a chance to convince my character otherwise in the game.

Cole for my Elfquisitor for sure. Dorian and Solas too perhaps. Dorian because he's still relatively pro-Tevinter and I have to say, his jokes were kind of inappropriate in the E3 demo, and Solas because he's too Fade-friendly for her tastes.

Hearing so many divided opinions on Cole really makes me want to read Asunder. Looks like I know what I'm doing on my next road trip.

I can see my inquisitor possibly butting heads with Cassandra and probably Leliana, as well as Cullen, but just because he'll be an Elf Mage and the Chantry has a... shall we say complicated past with the Dalish.

All of them.  I know we can't kill or get rid of all of them, since only one can be left, but I will for each companion to see what effects it has on the game.

None...except maybe Cole...I am untrustworthy of him. He seems to be DAI's Zevran for me.

Nope, he's like the anti-Zevran in my opinion.  He has a child's mentality I think and hasn't any clue at all about sex or any desire for it either.

Anyways, I don't plan on getting rid of any of the party members or advisors.  I usually don't take hardline stances on issues in Bioware games.

They probably meant in the betrayal sense. As in, they think Cole is likely to switch sides and stab you in the back if you're not careful.

Why are these instincts at odds here? Isnt Cole on our side, I wasnt aware he was trying to kill us

Unless they screw over the Inquisition, I don't think I will. I only suspect Vivienne or Iron Bull of doing that.

The only person in the DA universe I have no desire to see again, ever, is a mandatory part of the inquisition, so the person being sent away would most likely be the player in this case.  I figure I'll wait to make up my mind on this one.

No one? I try not to learn anything about the characters motivation before hand, i just don't want it to be spoiled. I intend to get to know everyone and if possible help everyone, then we'll see if i crash with anyone. I know we all have different preferences, but it bugs me how much they spoil pre-game.

For the canon run where I play an Inquisitor who decided mages are the root cause for this whole mess and that the world can not be healed without wiping all mages out:

Cole is a demon, so he's got to go.

Dorian, Solas, and Vivienne are mages.  They get the murder knife.

Other plays will switch this around (a pro mage play, a "how'd I get into this mess play", a "saint" play, a Chaotic Neutral play, etc.)
