Well Loghain wasn't with you for that long. I think if he was, then down the road he would've tried to take over and fight the blight in his own way that he thought was better.

I just had him join so I could assassinate him out of the public eye. Given that Anora was going to be queen, I didn't want her most vivid memory of me to be murdering her father before her. Slitting his throat during an expedition to the Deep Roads and then giving her some story about how he nobly died in battle would keep relations friendly.

Duncan's killer dies but the current queen's good name is unsullied.

Of course, Alistiar throws a hissy and Anora throws a hissy.

If people would just trust me, I could solve their problems, but everyone is SO DRAMATIC. It's annoying.

@Shark, to be fair if you do show Zevran mercy and let him join you he'll try to kill you again if you haven't built enough rep with him. Loghain doesn't do that if you recruit him.

I know.  I won't defend Zevran there, either.

IMO, with that being said, Loghain's sins against the Warden are still much worse.  And like Snowfire said, Loghain isn't with you for very long, what with his recruitment option coming at the end of the game.  I'd also bet anything that if his story as a companion had come earlier and been expanded upon, he'd challenge you at some point if you didn't have good rep with him.

Now, I totally understand telling Zevran to get lost due to the fact that he tried to kill you.  I wasn't particularly tickled by it, either.

But I ask this out of genuine curiosity: why do you come down so hard on Zevran when you're willing to show Loghain mercy?  Might I point out that Loghain left you for dead, and then made multiple attempts on your life -- heck, it was Loghain who hired Zevran to assassinate you in the first place.

I wasn't the same playthough. In the one where Loghain died killing the Archedemon for his redemption, Zevran betrayed me when the Crows came for me in Denerim (his approval was low). I killed Zevran in almost all my other playthrough at the start, but I only recruited Loghain once (that is still my favorite playthrough and it was the first).

By the way, it was Howe idea to hired the crows to kill the Warden, not Loghain. And Zevran is still a killer even after the game end, he gets no redemption.

I think I've killed every party member in the Dragon Age series at least once, except for Nathaniel Howe.

The only people I want to kick(or better - replace) right now are my advisors Cullen and Leliana....unfortunately I may not be given such option seeing as at the start the inquisition may be Cassandra's organization and not ours. But I am hoping that once we are strong enought (or have replaced most/all of the chantry troops) and have made the inquisition our own, we may decide their faith....though if we try too early and have to fight our own army that will be fun too:)

....as for the companions - that's too early.

Am I the only one who never wants to kill people just because I find them slightly annoying?

It's a little disturbing that the first questions after a companion has been revealed is usually "Can I sleep with them?" and/or "Can I kill them?"

If the companions get annoyed with me then they're free to leave, but I'd prefer to have everyone on my team until the end regardless of whether we see eye to eye.

If they attack me then it's another matter.

Definitely agree. I won't tell someone to leave or kill them unless I have a good reason. Not just because they're annoying or I don't like them.

Personally, I'm not going to kill anyone unless they force my hand by doing something abominable, or they attack me. There's no really good reason to kill someone if you're not under those two circumstances.

I would never kill or banish a character unless I had to (I'm too afraid of missing some content as a result) but I'd be very happy if we have a dramatic "save one or the other" Ashley/Kaidan situation with a cool dramatic cutscene.

That said, I have met the characters. The marketing material is their introduction to the player. I have judged characters on what I know of them. I see nothing wrong with these introductions influencing me.

I wasn't very clear in my post, and I apologize, but what I wrote after mentioning the Cole-thing was more or less meant in general, and it wasn't specific to Cole.

Yes, marketing introduced you to the characters. But I like to compare it to, say, a friend telling you how awesome his girlfriend is. What she likes, why she's dating him, a bit about her background...
And then you meet her and your first impressions turn out very differently from your expectations.

Marketing generates expectations: how you think a character will be. The game itself will allow you to form impressions.
So what I meant was: you can't decide to kill a character based on your expectations of how theh will turn out to be. At least that's how I see it.

Iron Bull will at some point likely have to choose between the Inquisition and the Qunari.  If he chooses poorly...

Pretty much THIS. In fact, the romance on my first inq depends on this.

My guess is that IB's adherence to the Qun (or lack thereof) is going to be a crucial part of his personal quest, and I'd assume that ultimately you'll be able to influence him to tip one way or the other (similar to hardening Leliana and Alistair in DAO, or choosing not to).

Leliana never liked her, annoyed the living crap out of me and maybe Sera if she disrespects Cole (I can't help but love him) similar to how Fenris and Anders acted towards my little blood mage Merrill.

Probably Cullen at this point, one of his biggest fans, but he turns out to not be romanceable. Don't like to be tease while having him on the team.. I feel like a horse with a carrot hat attached to me. :(

Whichever poor sod gives my PC only dialogue that has them act OOC.

(Characters I have killed as a result of this: Ashley, Tali & Jack). I'd done Liara in too but that was an impossibility.

Hey,

Why would I deny myself any content on a first run?

I wouldn't of course (and as I don't roleplay as in give my character a make believe personality that's different to my own, I don't even have reason to) - I might not use a companion I don't like, but I will not kill them just because (that's amoral, too)...and stupid (in a situation were you need any warm body that can fight, turning away people is a luxury you first don't really have and if you have it, you should not take it - having more people helps in the end to save more lives!)

greetings LAX

If anyone tries to kill me like Zevran or Loghain, then they die without any remorse on my part. Those two were only recruited once each to get the achievements. Don't think about trying to kill me that is a death sentence. As to the Anders situation, the only time I didn't kill him was on my mage playthrough.

So I will wait til I meet them.

By the way they have already stated that getting rid of or killing the advisers is not happening, so good luck trying that. You can however get down to just one companion, and how much you want to bet the one companion is Cassandra. I really despise the way they are handling the Chantry, but if they let us slaughter them, they would probably start receiving too much hate from Catholics, as clearly the Chantry is modeled after them.

I would not allow Iron Bull to send reports to the Qunari. If he can't deal with that, he can't join.

I have i feeling me and Viviene won't see eye to eye, something isn't right about her, everyone gives me the feeling of "we're working for the greater good" except her

but who knows, she may surprise us and turn out to be wisest of them all

Cole might be at risk if the introduction goes wrong.  I expect we'll get on well enough if we can get past first impressions, but if the first impression is creepy demon assassin then that is liable to be a problem.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how IB reconciles his loyalties.

I'm prepared to accept Cole on the merits he shows in-game.  I read Asunder and know what he's done.  My inquisitor won't be able to find a copy, so I'll have to take him or leave him as I find him.  Certain inquisitors might also have different opinions of him, which I'm also looking forward to exploring.
