I'm probably a softy on this one, but hear me out.

How would you respond to a side-quest where a kid loses their parents and the Inquisitor has the option to "adopt" them? (And you can decline either coldly or put them into reliable hands) Then their relationship would depend completely on you along with all of it's negative and positive consequences. Then things get dangerous towards the late-game and you find a trustworthy caretaker to take them out of harm's way.

For the record, the kid wouldn't actually go with you on missions (cause why would you bring a child into a warzone?), but would stay at the keep. The kid could also potentially die.

So what, they'd be like the Inquisition mascot?  Eh... I guess.  The kid has to earn their keep, though, so I hope they like polishing armor and shields.

I'd enjoy it, especially if the kid could end up a vendor or finding little trinkets for you like dog.

I'd like it if the options are

"Will you adopt me"

"No"

"Yes"

"Yes(lie)"

because that last one would be perfect for playing dickbag inquisitors who just want the extra little vendor around the keep.

I should use this at an adoption agency.

Sadly, people do. One woman applied to be an adoptive mother and told my mom she wanted a kid to shop and do errands for her because she was getting old.

That's more than a little depressing.

Yeah... That wasn't even the only alarming thing about it. If it helps, my mom rejected her application.

Wow, they actually said that? I'm not condoning it, but even if it's her intention, I don't understand why she would verbalize it out. She's not only a terrible person but an idiot as well.

Depends how high their power level is.

I don't know but I might keep the kid as my ward which would kind of get all the benefits of him being looked after and helping around the keep without the emotional baggage of being a parent which my Inquisitor definitely does not want (atm).

My own mother, many, many, many times when asked, "Why did you have children?" to wit her answer was and always shall be, "Slave labor."

Mostly in jest (though I did have a crap load of chores as a kid), she's also the same woman who bought me a George Foreman grill and exclaimed, "There! Now you won't ever need to get married!"

Oh the lulz of my mother.

There would be no hesitation. The kid would be adopted and have all they need within 5 seconds flat. /hugesoftie

That would be an interesting idea but of course I'm a big softie so unless I flat out avoid the kid its going to be hard for me to say no, it would be kind of cool too if after a while and the kid comes to trusts you that they want to help with the keep and does little things around to try and help out. Though I would be the person stacking up on items to see if I could give it to the child as a present for them as a thanks. But I'm such a big softie with fake kids that I don't even make mine do my farm work for me in Harvest Moon^^;

I don't want.  It's a mature game, and there will be hi-jinks and bad or suggestive language-the kid would be out of place.

Why? We already have Cole? :P

Kidding aside, it is an interesting prospect, but Bioware has said no having children in DAI.

That was my initial thought, "My Inquisitor is already going to be mothering Cole." I don't know if there'd be space for another child  ^_^

Though of course, if that were the case then yes, I'm a big softy and would adopt that little freckled face, bushy haired orphan in a heartbeat! Oh no, I'm already giving the orphan physical traits--I'm going to leave before I start getting attached.

Only if we're also given the option to cannibalise them

Pretty much what I would do.  My Inquisitor would be too busy to even think of adopting a kid but he wouldn't mind giving a kid a chance to make something of his/her life.

We already have that. It's Cole. You will even get to either scold him or praise him for killing people in their sleep and watching them while they shower.

jk.

Exactly no need to adopt that kid. We will find him a better home. We already have enough with Cole.

If it's a pet, like we kind of raise the pet, and train him e.t.c.  Then yes.
