You want kids go play the sims no need for this stuff.
Exactly how I feel. I think it's cool they add in romances, but if people want to go play house, there's already another game for that.

I don't get why people have to make the assumpion what the OP is sayng is in any way similar to the sims.
If I can see some kind of parallel, is with the mission in Fallout 3 about the kid orphaned thanks to the fire ants, where you can help the kid fin his uncle, (becaming a sort of hero for him) send him in little lamplight (he is resetful, life here is not that great) or sell him to the slavers.
is not that different from what the OP say. just you see the kid around the castle and sometimes he can speak to the Inquisitor when returning at "home". I can't see that being so terrible or "parent like". Not much different from the Dog in DA2.
