TL;DR: If you're moving to PC and too lazy to learn the KB&M, don't despair, Pinnacle has got your a** covered.

Just noticed this bit:
I like the 360 controller just fine - other than wearing it out. I'll get an Xbone at some point, have they changed the controller much for that system?
No very much at all, some slight improvements and a tiny price hike. If you don't look at the controller you'd hardly know from the feel. Now if they'd made the damn thing able to play Xbox360 games I'd already have gotten one.

Seen someone mention headset too. The Turtle Beach kind. Well, I seen one day a bunch of them displayed on EB Games for trying out. Was really addicted to Skyrim at this point and I was thinking "Wow, you mean that if I hear a Dragon, I can pinpoint what direction he'll be coming from, along with where everything else is at all times in a fully 3D gaming world?!!!" So yeah, I right away had to have it right there and then. Bought a wireless one since it would be compatible with both PS3 and X-Box 360, plus the PC by default as well. So that choice was a no brainer. Only issue it the very cheap plastic holding the freaking thing together. Yep, thing started falling apart on me in multiple places after only one month, lol. One day me and my brother had a fight, and yep, thing flies across the room in style, and end up in even more pieces, lol. Got it held together by two shocks, some duct tape, and a pair of Canadian dimes for support on each side. Twist ties were part of the solution at one point too, but I needed a fix that lasted longer. The way it is now, I only have to tighten the shocks every once in a blue moon, plus added another Canadian dime for extra support where the spacing of the duct tape wore off a little, cause one side is in worse shape. Yep, I sure look like a weirdo if a neighbour spots me taking a trip to the apartment garbage shoot in the hallway with this thing on my head or when I'm out on the balcony taking smoke breaks in between ME3mp waves, lol. So only saying this as a fair warning of their quality, and how much shame your willing to handle.
Plus wired ones look a bit more durable + way cheaper.
It uses 2 double AA batteries, and one set of rechargeable batteries I use last me one full day of non-stop play. And I have a total of 8 rechargeable batteries I cycle between the charger and the headset (the non-rechargeable batteries last 2 full days).
What else can I say, I'm very happy with this headset and will never be able to play modern gaming without one ever again. I feel totally handicapped without one. I totally recommend it to everyone, except megabeast cause he's got the proper surround sound setup. Though this thing does come with chat built in too, so you don't have to put that silly looking default chat headset thingy your X-Box 360 comes with. You'd be much happier with shocks, duct tape, etc. on your head.

So, another question: Do you choose your kit for ME3MP needs specifically, or is it that you got it for general purpose or for other games?
Mouse wise; yes and no. It was on sale, and I needed a new mouse as my old one had decided it wasn't going to register left clicks. I was however, solely playing ME3MP at the time, so the hex key setup of the Razer Naga Hex did sway me towards forking out the extra dollars for a gaming mouse. At this stage, I wouldn't go back to a normal three button mouse if I had a choice. Keyboard wise; no, I've used this model for years and the layout is very comfortable. Though the location of the apostrophe button has led me to unintentionally pressing the enter button (and subsequently posting half finished messages) on some occasions. Probably doesn't help that my keyboard is somewhat slanted diagonally on my desk.
Plus wired ones look a bit more durable + way cheaper.
My Turtle Beach Earforce X12's are wired, and I can attest to their durability. I've dropped this set countless times, rolled over the cord with my chair and tripped over the cord (leading the headset to be forcefully pulled off my head) many a time when I did use it for the 360. Prior to getting them, I used to have the XL1 set also from Turtle Beach, but those were less durable and the microphone (or maybe just my controller) had a habit of buzzing whenever I had it plugged in. For an extra $40aud I much prefer the X12, at least with this set I haven't had anyone sit on them (siblings

I'll never play games with a headset again. That's because I've got proper headphones and a studio microphone on a gooseneck connected to a mic preamp. ![]()

Mouse: Logitech G600
-I've used various gaming mice like many razor ones, but actually found I love the G600 as it has the nubs on the thumb grid and indented in a way that you just know where your thumb is at all times where as on many razor gaming mice with grid you can lose track of what row your on.
-also the gaming grid works great for putting melee, powers, revive ext on them all as i would rather not be hitting them on keyboard.
Keyboard: Logitech G19
-Love this keyboard beyond, as the video interface has lots of supported widget apps that are useful and the keyboard just feels good. Has function keys to to add addition macro keys.
Console controllers: they are for scrubs.
-FPS just aren't good with controllers compared to once you have used mouse and keyboard.

For PC I use Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard and Logitech G400 mouse.
For 360 I use standard controller. If I was rich I'd buy a turbo controller and try the Mattock with it.

I suppose i could add a few more details..
I got mine specifically for multiplayer. Originally i was using an old wolfking keyboard and a microsoft sidewinder mouse.
I bought my saitek eclipse II because i needed a backlit keyboard for multiplayer and it was on sale. Nothing special though.
I got my g600 mouse because i wore out the thumb buttons on my sidewinder which was already old. On the g600 the thumb buttons are in rows of three, and thats perfect for the powers in multiplayer, since you only need to spam the first three. And of course the far right mouse clicker, which i never saw on anything before, looked good for medigel spam.. That still leaves around 12 buttons i dont use much, but they work for ME1 & ME2. I looked around at alot of mice, this one just looked perfect for this game, and it is. It does take some getting used to though.
Oh i have a razer vespula mousepad with a gel wrist rest, which is really really nice.

Your post, as many others, is helpfully informative. Thank you. I just want to remark on that last comment of yours. K+M vs controller isn't that simple. I've played with all kinds of controllers and all kinds of keyboards and mice, and the experience is simply different, and preference can vary from game to game. (And I play ME3 on consoles and PC.) So one has to adjust to make the best of the setup one has.

So far I'm seeing a lot of Razer and Logitech love. Some, but only a few, people have explained why they find their kit useful or game-enhancing for them.

I just love mechanical keyboards for that "click" sound & feel. Unless I have to type a lot of text or code (which rarely happens nowadays), I like to sit quite a bit away from the monitor and have the KB on my lap - a heavy one feels best for me this way. I like my mouse pointer movements really fast and crisp, so the arrival of high-resolution mice was a godsend. "General purpose" for me has always included games.
I dont usually keep up with current hardware unless I´m building a new rig, so there has been some interesting stuff in this thread. I don´t need much of an excuse now to take a closer look at that Logitech mouse with the 15 thumb buttons sometime
.

Playing with a mouse requires way less skill then playing with a gamepad. So no, the mouse and key race is the true scrub race. Cause playing with a mouse is just like playing old NES Duck Hunt with the lightgun pressed against the TV. Directly pointing at the bad guys. Where we console players on the other hand play Duck Hunt from a proper distance and get the proper challenge + extra added fun, and not to mention comfort, too.
But really to me it's really a great mystery that gamers would rather game with typing equipment instead of equipment made from the ground up for gaming only. That, and if I were to videogames 24-7 (which is what I do_ with a mouse and key, my hand would fall off, lol. So yes, the pc scrub race way of doing things is far beyond my comprehension outside of what I always know. Most gamers always want no gaming challenge.

360 controller (with fancy turning D-pad) that still doesn't improve it's function. Turtle beach X31s, yes the X31. I have had it for more than 4 years now and only had to replace the chord the connects the headset to the controller.

Weird. You're no ordinary clueless guy, somehow all the cluelessness around here seems to concentrate in you.
That was one of the stupidest, out-of-touch-with-reality posts I've seen in a while, and that's saying something. Comparing aiming with a mouse to "Duck Hunt with the lightgun pressed against the TV"... It couldn't be more obvious you've no idea whatsoever what you're talking about.

Standard PS3 controller on the PS3 (duh).
I tried various controllers on PC - the PS3 one, some noname one, a Logitech F-130, all were (at best) pretty close but "bad" enough to be really irritating.
I finally settled on a Logitech G-13 keypad and a Razer Naga mouse, so basically a keyboard with a lot less keys and a mouse with a lot more.
I eventually gave up on PC gaming, though. No way to get that going comfortably in the living room, sadly. I now fire up the PC version specifically for screencaps/videos.

Still seeing some cool gear listed here, but mostly PC stuff.
Has anyone used any of the custom controllers with a console?
