I use the standard 360 controller but my current one in rotation right now is the gold chrome series controller. Yes I know, I love the gold color. I just wish I could use my Xbox One controller. After playing that for about four to five hours then going back to the 360 controller, the thumb sticks on the 360 controller felt really stiff in comparison. Only thing I wish they kept on the X1 controller from the 360 one was the rotating d-pad. Most useful aspect about the current line of 360 controllers.

Your post, as many others, is helpfully informative. Thank you. I just want to remark on that last comment of yours. K+M vs controller isn't that simple. I've played with all kinds of controllers and all kinds of keyboards and mice, and the experience is simply different, and preference can vary from game to game. (And I play ME3 on consoles and PC.) So one has to adjust to make the best of the setup one has.

My scrub comment was more to poke fun at my console neighbors, no real issue there.

But more seriously, it is great it works out for you that way but I have found K+M in regards to shooters have a large advantage in gameplay; I also base this off the rare couple games I've played that crossed pc and console together (*cough* shadowrun *cough*) and the game was pretty solid all around but it's major failing wasn't the game, it was that they crossed platforms as top end console players were getting spanked by moderate pc players. There is a reason why shooter games refuse to cross platforms and this is it. Destiny which I was looking forward to trying is consoles, they have gone out of their way like everyone else to not cross platform.

Generic 360 controller but have had to replace the right trigger once and the carbon pads two or three times.  Also thought blue LEDs would be nice...after loosing one and getting two in place I quit, now have mixed lights, those things are tiny...the blue is actually irritating...grrrr.

After living with a battered and failing 360 controller for so long I finally bought a cheap replacement.  Something called 'Rock Candy', was on sale at Walmart and is wired as opposed to my wireless.  I have to sit just a bit closer to my tv to use it up have been surprised that using a corded controller is not that big of a handicap freedom wise.  I've only pulled the plug out by accident once so far.

I use the wireless 360 controller.  Last year I used about three or four Razer Onza controllers - they are wired and superior, imo, but the joysticks wore out easily and would become useless, so I got tired of buying them.

The thing about the PC vs console I find tiresome.  I write software as my job so I don't want to use a keyboard when I'm not at work :)

Nice to see another WiiU player on here. Maybe we can get a group together sometime? I also wonder if you agree with me that the Pro Controller is the best of the standard console controllers?

Of course!, you can add me, Nintendo ID: MEuniverse & Yes, the Wii U's pro controller is one of the most comfortable standard controllers. In fact it is one of my top three standard controllers: #1. PS4, #2. Xbox one, #3. Wii U :)

I use my PS4 controller now. Only downside is that the PS button doesn't work when it's used on a PS3.

I use this mouse and the keyboard that comes with my laptop, which is also a steelseries iirc. I might venture into the mechanical keyboard territory once I move out and could be as loud as I want....

On PS3 I used the default controller. I liked it much better than the Xbox controller and never found any problem with it.

I have a wordene green zombie controller. They're 70 $ on ebay. Its a modded Microsoft controller so if you like the feel of the standard 360 model (which I love) then this is perfect. They have several color shemes/patterns and you can choose the color of the leds. Tons of modes and adjustments within the modes. I got it for COD but have really enjoyed it with me3.

I am on xbox 360, but, i still use a mouse and keyboard.  How you ask?  http://xim4.com/

So if you like mouse and keyboard and own a console, XIM4 is a fantastic solution.  I love it.

The solution is to get a PC.

For you perhaps.  Between the cost of maintaining a gaming PC, and the simple fact that all my friends and family play on xbox, the solution is clearly xim4.

Everyone in the IT world always believes that there must be a single solution that fits everyone.

They continue to believe this in the face of the evidence. It's wonderful.

Have played this game exclusively for several years, and for the last maybe four months nearly always a Juggy, So my preferences might be a bit askew. I rotated between an xbox white and black wireless just because I had them. Then I started

getting the cursed d-pad problem. My solution was to replace the conductive rubber thingy, and to add ModSticks and Modstick

triggers with Trigger Stops. Incredible improvement for me. My personal problem was really smooth finger tips, so I filed the grooves abit deeper on the right joystick and my aiming did improve. The left stick was a real challenge cause you have to push and hold it forward most of the time with a Juggy, so I put the Modstick rubber grips on. Voila! No more left thumb ache, fast aiming, quicker scoping, and quicker shots with single shot weapons. Bit of advice if you start modding your controller, buy a #8 Torx Security screwdriver and you wont mess up the screws by micky mousing methods. Oh yeah, almost forgot this, the vertical shaft on the Modsticks are smaller than the Microsoft so you get more range of motion.

Of course all the world's most sophisticated problems has one simple elegant solution. Otherwise the universe is messy as hell.

I like it messy. Or at least, there ain't no way I'm gonna be the one to tidy it up.

Standard 360 wireless.  Only issue is getting a rocket out when I'm trying to pop an ops pack, or using an ammo pack when I'm trying to get a rocket out.

Microsoft ergonomic keyboard (I do a lot of typing - programmer) and I find those keyboards really comfortable... even though they're not ideal gaming keyboards.

I never get why people keep saying this.  I find them perfectly ideal, since splitting the keys in half makes it much easier for you to visualize the exact location of the exact button that you want, instead of having to stare at your keyboard trying to match it all up with the 30 keybind icons on your screen

EXCV to move (X and V are strafe, turn with mouse), all other left side buttons for actions.  Shift/Control modifiers on the thumb buttons of your Logitech G400s.  Group similar abilities or combinations all on one left-side key with modifiers.  For example in SWTOR, Shift+T was Force Charge, then T was Forch Push, then Control+T was Saber Throw as I ran towards them, then when I was back in melee range and they blew their knockback at me, Shift+T to get back in their face and start my standard rotation.  All on one button and it was one of my standard opening sequences.

And I never had to stare at my keyboard to find it, or accidentally press Y.  T is a bigger key than the others and it is on the edge of its grouping.  Same with G, H, and N.  Even B and Y are wider, but the difference is slight.

Bind all your right side keys to incidental stuff like backpacks, menu windows, and social actions.  Now you will never open a backpack when you are trying to deflect lasers with your lightsaber

I assume direct control.

Jokes aside, I use what you expect PC user to use most of the time, which is KB+M. I don't do anything special about settings and the like, although I've heard that you can split functions of omnibutton between different inputs, but I think nothing short of fit of rage due to another misinterpretation would make me lift my lazy a** at this point :P
