Hi,

Not sure if there is already a post on this, looked for it but no luck.

In one of the cut lines Merrill tells the Dalish not to bury Mahariel yet, because she believes the mirror could bring him/her back?

So does this mean Dalish elf Warden could survive the ultimate sacrifice?

Can the mirrors even do that?

Do cut lines still count as canon (considering it could have been cut due to time/money constraints and not because they didn't want to include it)?

Wouldn't the body be stinky after a year?

So many questions, too little answers.

Vid with cut lines in for reference  ~~~~>

Ty for replies.

IMO cut content doesn't have any bearing on the story because one of the reasons for its exclusion could have been, "this is against lore."  Until it is shown in a novel, comic (maybe), or game, then it doesn't count as far as I'm concerned.  If it shows up in some official source, then I'd consider it legit.

Actually, now that I think back on this, the ultimate sacrifice choice stated that the Warden and Archdemon's souls would both be destroyed in the process.  Since the Warden no longer exists outside of peoples' memories, resurrection would be impossible no matter what.

Maybe they had something in mind but could not get it to work, for story purposes or cinematic reasons. So the lines were cut and the idea forgotten.

That's interesting. I didn't know there were cut lines. I don't suppose there's a mod out there that can restore them to the game?

Couldn't the soul exist in the fade and the Eluvian be used to retrieve it? (sorry if the quotes messed up, I don't post much)

I scanned the Nexus and couldn't see one, DA2 never drew the modders as much as origins bar cosmetic mods.

They have the voice acting, which is pretty far in the creative process I think, knowing DA2 is was most likely time constraints.

When I heard that the souls would be "destroyed," that told me that there was no hope for a conventional afterlife... whatever normally happens to souls from Thedas wasn't going to happen with these two.

As long as someone is thinking or dreaming of the hero wouldn't they still exist to some extent in the fade? sorry for the question spam.

I just watched that movie again... are you sure this is about an ultimate sacrifice warden?  Because Merril said they never heard from him again, not that he died fighting the Archdemon... maybe this is related to the mysterious disappearance that would later claim Hawke as well, but since the timeline was wonky they cut the dialogue?  That's my best guess.

Edit:  Yeah... she said "the lost warden" at around 1:36.  I don't think this is about the ultimate sacrifice Warden at all.  He/she probably just didn't keep in touch with the clan after the Blight and then got kidnapped...

Its dialogue for every type of warden, for the ultimate sacrifice one she said 'don't bury him yet', because the keeper takes the body of the warden as they don't burn their dead, sorry i didn't clarify that earlier.

Oh, I thought that video was a bunch of scenes from a single playthrough, plus some DA:O stuff...   well, in that case, I've got no idea.

Anyway, Merrill saying that she can do something with the mirror doesn't mean that Merrill is actually able to do that thing.
