My inquisitor will hate every companion and advisor in the game because he feels like no one understand him, so he often just sit in his room all day and listening to music about death.
From what we know of the companions the kind of character I'm playing will be somewhat mistrusted by a large portion of the party, so I've decided to be as brazen and undiplomatic as possible for the fun ![]()

It's subject to change upon actually playing the game, but I'd expect my elven Inquisitor to be wary of the former members of the Chantry, given the historical conflicts between the two. Iron Bull's status as a Qunari spy, and Cole being a spirit, would be concerns as well. I'm imagining my character as somewhat stoic, a bit militant in terms of handling the crisis of the Breach, so the other relationships could go either way, although I don't anticipate any serious issue with Blackwall. As the only Dalish, he might seek some common ground with Sera and Solas, although it's difficult to tell at this point how that will actually turn out.

I think my character will rely pretty heavily on someone like Josephine to keep him balanced-- he's a bit of raw nerve, being a reluctant Dalish Inquisitor, so I think a lot of who he interacts with will be defined by whether or not he trusts them to shore up some of his more notable faults and flaws. As a result, I think he'll favor a combination of both tactful and blunt companions-- people like Josephine to be rational when he's irrational, and blunt forces like Iron Bull to call him out on his bullshit.
I think he'll also be close to Dorian, as a fellow Mage and someone else who has a lot to prove. On the other hand, I think the Inquisitor will be quite wary of both Cullen and Cassandra, since they represent the hard military arms of the Chantry. Leliana, it's harder to say. I think the Inquisitor will see the pragmatic, utilitarian value of a spymaster, but if what happened in Halamshiral ever comes to light, I think it'd take Iron Bull holding him back to keep him from doing something to Leliana he might later regret.
But we'll see in a few months.
As a scenario-specific example, I can see Leliana protesting if the Inquisitor decides to let Orlais fend for itself on the basis of cold practicality, only to have him lash out at her for letting the Alienage burn for the same reason when she might have been able to stop it had she spoken up.

From my male Dalish point of view:
Sera is probably going to feel like a little sister he sometimes wish he never knew anything about.
Some stuff about her he's going to find very endearing , like the fact that she made a life for herself , she's willing to help the helpless and she seems fun and genuine.
Others are going to give him a big headache for sure.it seems she enjoys life in cities...and she's a thief.I think he's going to feel like she has much potential and it would have been better for her to be Dalish.
Blackwall , my Dalish will value making sacrifices for people you care about. He has a lot of things in common with Blackwall (well from the few stuff we know) So he may respect the warden greatly...
But Blackwall is human. So it will take a bit of time.High chance of ending up very good friends.
Josephine , he's going to rely on her quite a bit.I think they are going to fight because my pc won't always feel diplomat. And he's not going to have much patience at times.
Leliana :mixed feelings. But he's not against spies from time to time.
Dorian :.Probably going to get annoyed by the noble arrogance. But Dorian is trying to do something for his people and he's a bit of an outcast.Something my pc will understand. And future LI.Complicated relationship.
The Iron Bull :probably good friend.Again somebody having problems with his culture. And still cares about his people , and he's torn.
My Dalish will wonder why The Iron Bull tries to act like a Shem , with all the drinking and sleeping with everybody thingie.
Cassandra :Not best friend but lots of respect. if the first thing she does , is threatening him with a sword...well his opinions about humans won't improve. But I think he's going to like her quite a bit in the end.
They are both sort of romantic , and deny it.They're both having doubts , and they both take their duty seriously.
But I think my Dalish will be less pragmatic than her , and they're sometimes going to fight.
Solas , he's going to like Solas .Because he's a mage and elf(like a Keeper!).But that whole sleeping all the time is going to left him quite puzzled. Also some problem might arise because Solas isn't acting "Dalish" enough.Sometimes disapointing friendship .
Cole: He's going to wonder what the hell is he supposed to do with that kid.He is going to be cautious around the spirit but won't feel like leaving him all alone.maybe friend.
Varric: Very Good friend.Except Varric doesn't like nature. Also Varric is loyal something my Dalish value.
Vivienne:No idea.Vivienne has some qualities for sure. She's proud of who she is , and she suceed in a world that despise mages. He's going to respect that for sure. But that orlesians nobility thing going to drive him mad.Lots of "Hey I really like you" "Hey I really dislike you" going on.
Cullen .Human and templar. Not a good start.Relationship may improve during the game. But I don't think they are going to be BFF.

My mage is going to be extremely reluctant to trust the chantry's intentions, whether because of being Dalish or being an apostate, so Cass, Vivienne, Cullen, and Leliana are all going to be viewed with a certain suspicion. Solas, Dorian, and Cole, however, are likely to be at a slight advantage.
My rogue will probably identify best with Sera. I might make him or her (I haven't decided which yet, but almost certainly one of the 2) be afraid of magic and really nervous when the spells start to whip around and give Vivienne, Dorian, and Solas a wide berth.

ADVISORS
Leliana: She's seems pretty ruthless these days, so that'd probably make Trevelyan wrinkle his nose uncertainly. He also wouldn't be too impressed by her dedication to the Chantry. They probably won't be friends.
Cullen: Nope, nope, nope. Trevelyan would not be too pleased about having a templar hanging about trying to tell him what to do. It'd be like being back in the Circle all over again. He'll probably puff up like an angry cat whenever Cullen opens his mouth, even if he happens to agree with what's coming out of it.
Josephine: This is the advisor he'll probably listen to the most. In all honesty, Trevelyan probably isn't the savviest person in the world, and a diplomat like Josephine will probably have no trouble getting him on her side. They'll probably be friends.
COMPANIONS
Cassandra: As with Leliana and Cullen, Trevelyan will take Cassandra's ties to the Chantry as a threat, and will stubbornly dig his heels in whenever she tries to make him do anything. They won't get along and if Cassandra doesn't stab one of his many books in frustration at some point, I will be shocked.
Varric: Trevelyan will be not so secretly infatuated with the magnificent mage Hawke and will probably spend most of his free time trying to weasle stories about him out of Varric. I'm sure Varric will be more than happy to oblige. They'll be pretty good friends.
Dorian: Trevelyan will furiously wiggle his eyebrows at Dorian. Dorian will furiously wiggle his moustache at Trevelyan. Somehow this will result in sexy times and all will be right in the world. Except for those pesky fade tears, but what can you do.
Iron Bull: Trevelyan will be simultaneously fascinated with Iron Bull, and repulsed by the way the Qun treats their mages. He'll probably alternate between bitching at him about Qunari mages, and asking if he can ride on his shoulders.
Sera: He'll probably not know what to make of Sera at first, but once he's been out and about with her and Varric a bit, he'll likely start to befriend her as an extension of his friendship with Varric.
Solas: Trevelyan will be extremely interested in Solas's unique perspectve on magic and will probably question him about it extensively. He'll look up to him (or down on him, whatever) as a mentor and will highly value his expertise on the rifts, because Maker only knows Trevelyan doesn't have a clue what he's doing.
Blackwall: Since he doesn't have much of on opinion on the Grey Wardens, Trevelyan probably won't be too interested in Blackwall at first. If they ever have to go down into the Deep Roads, however, Trevelyan will be quick to rectify that and becomes absolute best friends with Blackwall - at least until they're back on the surface.
Cole: Trevelyan will start off with a healthy distrust for Cole, given his nature, but over time Cole's childlike behaviour will start to break that down. Trevelyan will probably be pretty fond of him and take him under his wing. Whether that comes back to bite him on the ass remains to be seen.
Vivienne: Along with Cullen, Vivienne will complete the feeling of being back in the Circle. Trevelyan will relish in being able to tell her where to stuff her mage seniority, while at the same time being extremely anxious that she'll rip him to shreds over the tiniest unfashionable detail in his outfit.

Okay I have quite many characters planned out so this is going to be long lol.
Skye Adaar (diplomatic pro-mage qunari mage):
- She gets together well with most of people. She's quite oblivious and doesn't understand if she's disliked or unwanted.
- Loves magical knowledge of Solas and is intrested of Cole as well. I imagine them sitting in circle around some herbal area and discussing about wonders of magic.
- Her views probaply clashes with Cullen, Cass, Vivienne and Iron Bull but she will still like them although they will argue about stuff.
Tamarin Lavellan (oppurtunist dalish rogue with Napoleon and hero complex):
- He wants his word to be followed. He's not actively against anything or for anything but himself. He wants both conquer and save, own and be worshipped.
-He will like people who work for him and don't question his decisions too much. Cole with his altruism will probaply get some of his wrath. Other too goody-shoes as well. Possibly also Vivi, Cass and other strong-willed one's if their goals don't match with his own.
- He'll have soft spot for Dorian who he has severe crush for.
Valpur Adaar (adventurer qunari warrior):
- Valpur has pretty calm and laid-back personality. She won't like people who are trying to pester her or the one's who worry too much about future. In other hand she likes people who are more laid-back like her, joke around and like to have good time (which means like drinking in tavern and playing cards or similar to her, nothing too fancy).
- I think she will like Sera, Iron Bull and Varric most.
- She and Cass won't probaply get along well. I think they will respect each other but still be very annoyed: Valpur for Cassandra pestering her and being too stiff, Cass for Valpur taking everything too easily and being too chilled XD

My Inquisitor, Turmas Adaar, is a Vashoth, having grown up on the Streets of Orlais, resented by everyone. He tries to find his Way back to the Qun, which he sees as far preferrable to Life in Orlais, which is a very ... bad ... Place. His Hatred burns especially hot for the "Commoners" of Orlais, who shunned him, even though he was Part of them. The Nobility is something he doesn't particularly care about. He soaks up everything about the Qun like a Sponge.
Leliana: First, their Views will clash heavily, as he resents Sneakyness and does not believe in Andrastian Philosophy. However, as Time goes on, she will be able to realize that this Qunari, too, is a big Softie in the Heart. This can at least mellow down their mutual Resentment.
Cullen: They will agree on most Issues, I believe. I can see them on very good Terms - Turmas will rely heavily on Cullen's Ability to lead his Men and use them plenty and his Templar Views accomodate what Turmas thinks about Mages as well. They will become Brothers in Crime, so to speak.
Josephine: A Women with a Place that is okay with the Qun, so Turmas will be on good Terms with Josephine. If an Issue can't be resolved by brute Force, hers is the Way he follows. Her Advice will have great Value to him, even though Cullen's Military Ways will win out most of the Time and Turmas will value Josephine greatly.
Cassandra: Her blunt Approach to Things will find his Approval and he has seen enough Reality not to be irked out by Warrior Women. However, her deep Beliefs in the Chantry will not be appreciated and depending how much she values these Structurs, this can build up mild Resentment between Turmas and her.
Varric: Sadly, with this Inquisitor, his Relationship will be extremely strained. I plan on doing another, that even maybe romances Varric, but Turmas and Varric will very probably not end up as Bros. Varric's Resentment of Qunari will be reasonable about Turmas and that they have conflicting Views about Smallfolk doesn't help.
Dorian: A Tevinter Magister. Is there any Possibility he can be Friends with a rigid Qunari? The Possibility is great, that Dorian won't even be allowed to join or will get the Boot from Turmas. Or he will get his Mouth sewn shut. They are most definitely not Friend Material.
Iron Bull: This Relationship may be the most interesting. Turmas is eager to learn about the Qun and will seek out the iron Bull at every Opportunity to learn more about what he perceives as his "true" People. Bull, however, is probably not the best Teacher that Turmas can acquire.
Sera: She will probably not be okay with the Attitude Turmas shows towards the regular Smallfolk - but he WILL be sympathetic toward sthe elven Rebellion (because he knows how it feels to be shunned by Humans). So her Relationship will never be warm and her staying will be determined by her Priorities.
Solas: The Reaction to him... will not be as bad as the Reaction to Dorian, at least. But he will be viewed with extreme Caution and the sewing Needles will never get out of Reach for Turmas in Regards to the Elf. However, the Face Knowledge might be existential to the Cause of the Inquisition and thus he may be an Exception.
Blackwall: The old Warden may not be okay with Turmas' Annoyance with the Smallfolk, but overall, I think they will get along without Problems. Turmas and Blackwall are both Warriors and when all comes down to blows, they know that the other One will have their Back.
Cole: DEMON? LOL NOPE.
Vivienne: As a Mage who is pro-Circle, she will be the Subject of highest Respect from Turmas. He will take her Advice and Agenda very seriously, as he himself is not very savvy in Terms of orlesian Politics and might even develop a Crush on her (that Hat, Man). I hope sincerely that she will reciprocate that Affection.

At the moment I am playing around with two PCs in my mind. I'm going to need a bit more detail on the Dalish background (whether you can be a recent recruit former city elf/circle apostate or not) so my female Dalish mage is currently on hold. However, I have been working on my male human mage.
Perrin Trevelyan came to the Circle later than most, early to mid teens. His parents tried to keep him out but he was betrayed by his closest friend, whom he had known since childhood. So he is going to be mistrustful and slightly cynical about everyone initially. Whilst in the Circle he was able to indulge in blood magic, which he later wholly renounced, so is currently committed to redeeming himself. This makes him somewhat sceptical about the Circle system, since he knows personally that it doesn't really hamper the activities of a really committed and talented mage who is wise and clever enough not to rouse the suspicions of the Templars overseers. So his objections are not so much about freedom but practicality. Putting all the mages in one place practicing magic is always going to be bad for the state of the Veil. Also there are just as many bad and ruthless people who are non-mages and ordinary people are also able to be possessed.
So he will likely have long and heated discussions with Cassandra, Cullen and Vivienne about the value of the Circle system in its old form. He feels the majority of mages, who were never particularly talented or powerful, could probably be trusted in the community and monitored on a local level. Circles could be for initial training and then specialist research, overseen by Templars in case things go wrong but with mages permitted to leave when they choose.
He will be alternatively fascinated by Solas and Cole but also wary of them, particularly Cole. His former use of blood magic means he has had direct interaction with a demon. The fact that his only use of blood magic rebounded spectacularly in a way that harmed a great many people, all because he wasn't sufficiently careful in negotiating terms with the demon, means that he is going to be very cautious around spirits in the future. That said, because he knows he is no saint himself, he will allow others the benefit of the doubt even if their past actions have been questionable.
Being from the Freemarches, which has a long and troubled history with the Qun, he is going to find it very difficult to accept Iron Bull. This isn't helped by the Qunari attitude to and treatment of mages. Pragmatism may allow him to accept his assistance but he is going to watch him carefully and the reports which he sends back to his superiors.
I think he is going to like Sera a lot. It will probably help that there can never be anything romantic between them so he can just concentrate on being good friends. He has had friends in the Circle who were elves and saw them as equals rather than inferiors, which of course was different from how he had been raised on the outside. He will probably punch anyone you uses the term "knife ear" to either Sera or Solas.
By contrast, I think there is a good chance he will get romantically entangled with Dorian. The fact that Dorian is a bit of a rebel against his culture but still proud of being a mage will appeal to him. He has always been interested in learning more about Tevinter and will enjoy doing so from some a different source than Chantry histories. I suppose a lot is going to depend on just what aspects of Tevinter culture Dorian has rejected. Perrin is against slavery.
The other likely romance is Josephine. I can see him relating to her really well. He likes the idea that "the pen is mightier than the sword". He is not averse to direct action but appreciates that sometimes the diplomatic option is better. I'm hoping that she comes across as intelligent and thoughtful because that is likely to appeal to him.
I'm not sure yet how he will interact with Leliana. He will appreciate the value of good intelligence information and respect her greater expertise in this area to himself. I wait to see how her character has changed from DAO but he will be sympathetic to the effect that loss of those close to her has had on her.
I'm pretty sure he will respect Blackwall. He won't have had much contact with Grey Wardens as so will only know them from popular folklore and reputation. Since Blackwall tries to embody this Grey Warden "ideal" it seems unlikely that his preconceptions of the Order are going to be disappointed. As he always had a good relationship with his own father, I think he may well look to Blackwall for guidance as a sort of father figure.
That leaves Varric. I can't see any reason why he wouldn't like Varric. Once again I think he will end up my brother in arms.
So far as the Maker and the Chantry is concerned, he directly prayed to the Maker for a chance to redeem himself, so he may well view events at the beginning as the Maker's response to his prayers. Whilst he may stop short of proclaiming himself a prophet, he may view himself as divinely chosen for his role but following his own interpretation of the Chant of Light, which may not entirely concur with the teachings of either White or Black Chantries. How this impacts on his relationships with companions and advisors I await with interest.

or
My male Dalish artificer will respect everybody, beside pure fanatics (viviene?). Will probably throw a couple of drinking parties with Blackwall, Bull and Varric. Will be a clown, high roller and a vee...ery drunk person. Maybe he'll die at the end?

Solas and Cole are no no's for my Templar. The people dying now are what matters, not airy fairy fade theories that will take years to implement.
To be honest, due to Dragon Age 2, I'm probably going to end up killing every mage and templar in the game...hooray for chaotic neutral!

Advisers
Cullen: She will have a great deal of respect for Cullen, but due to his serious personality and aggressive tactics, she will not enjoy his company nor readily heed his advice.
Josephine: She will get along very well with Josephine. Her leanings towards pacifism, love of world cultures, and history with diplomacy make them natural friends.
Lelliana: She will enjoy Lelliana's company and have a great deal of respect for her.
Companions
Blackwall: She will have great respect for Blackwall, believing him to be genuine in his desire to help people and finding his skills on the battlefield useful. She will however at times find him intimidating.
Cassandra: She feels a special affection for Cassandra. Cassandra's stern yet caring manner makes her reminds Alix of her mother.
Cole: She doesn't know what to make of Cole, which makes her suspicious of him. But, she feels that using him for wet-works is the quickest and easiest way to get rid of certain problems.
Dorian: She loves hanging out with Dorian. She thinks he's funny and cool, though she prefers to be the only magic user on her squad, she does sometimes take him with her.
Iron Bull: She adores Iron Bull. Out of all of them she finds him the most fun to be around, and he is also the first Qunari she's ever met, which makes him fascinating to her. In addition, his general hardiness and skill with a giant blade will have helped keep her alive as much as her healing spells have kept him alive.
Sera: She is literally in love with Sera. Their similar senses of humor, somewhat myopic views (not looking at the big picture), and love of the ladies combined with a certain tension about tactics make them natural lovers and even soul-mates.
Solas: His dower attitude and fixation with the Fade creeps her out. That combined with his solitary nature keeps her from trusting him, but she finds his expertise useful.
Varric: She loves this man like a fun uncle. She enjoys hanging out with him, listening to his stories, and sharing a pint. She also finds his skills with traps and of course Bianca nearly indispensable in battle.
Vivienne: She feels that this Circle Mage's ambitions will one day lead her to betray The Inquisition. She also does not care for Viv's stuck up attitude.

My Inquisitor will get along fine with Cullen, Josephine, Lileana, Blackwall, Cassandra and Varric
He'll be on the fence about Solas, depending on how useful the elf's knowledge of the Fade turns out to be
He will actively distrust Cole, Dorian, and Iron Bull
He won't put up with Sera and Vivienne's BS. If they can't get over themselves, they can sit at Skyhold learning how to be scullery maids.

Leliana: It is hard to say. Elidri, despite being a rogue, won't rely too much on Leliana's advice, preferring a straight forward solution. There may also be a clash based on differing beliefs. However, given Leliana's sympathy for the elves, she may respect Leliana a great deal.
Cullen: Will probably agree on most issues and often take his advice, though may clash on religious ideologies. Will hopefully be her LI.
Josephine: Will probably rely on Josie when navigating the politics of the world. While she does not care much for the concerns of the human nobility, Elidri more than recognises the need for their support to keep the Inquisition strong, and recognises her own weakness is definitely diplomacy.
Cassandra: They will probably see eye to eye on most issues, both agreeing that stopping the Breach is their main concern.
Varric: Varric will probably disagree with many of Elidri's choices, and like Cassandra, she will find his stories and jokes tiresome and aggravating, often making him and everyone else aware of her displeasure.
Dorian: Similar problems with the dwarf, but augmented by being Tevinter and a mage to boot. If he's a necromancer, that may be enough to push her over the edge. She will definitely not trust Dorian at all. Furthermore, given the fact that he was making jokes about the decor minutes after rescuing a tortured Leliana, Elidri will likely not appreciate such callousness. She's surprisingly sensitive like that.
Iron Bull: Likely eager to find out more about the Qunari, more than willing to help them and will want to push IB back to the Qunari. Won't care for his overindulgence however, particularly in times of war such as this. Although, he seems to speak his mind, which she respects, and they share similar views on demons and demonic possession.
Sera: May disagree over some issues, but they both seem to fear demons. She also seems to speak her mind, which she respects. And she's an elf, which is a big plus. Elidri may trust and like Sera more than the other way round.
Solas: Will not trust at all. His willingness to spend time in the Fade and his unschooled hedge mage background will greatly displease her, and she'll worry that Solas is possessed. He will also disagree with many of her decisions and beliefs.
Blackwall: Hard to say since we arguably know the least about him. She'll likely respect him, his motives and Grey Warden ideals.
Cole: All demons will be DOA.
Vivienne: One of the few mages Elidri will trust. They'll agree on most issues, and though she probably won't approve much of her extravagance and indirect way of handling people, like Josie, she'll rely on her to manoeuvre the Orlesian courts and take any advice from her as gospel. Despite, their differences, they are quite similar and Elidri will hold a lot of respect for Vivienne and her rise to power.
