I mean, what are we all expecting/hoping for?
Is anyone really excited for the SDCC panel?

there are two things from it i think the forums need to hopeful become less toxic.
A for them to come out and say when and where it is set.
B how they are going to handle the ending.
but i doubt it would help.
Personally judging by the name of the panel i think they are going to be talking more about how Bioware did the planing, writing, and making the next mass effect then talking about what the next game itself is going to be about.
So i expecting thing more like "we wanted to move away from Shepard so we are going to have playable races" and not things like "the PC is going a scientist work for the citadel researching dark matter but then ends up having to bring down a great conspiracy".
really I'm hoping that they give a good idea of what a post ME3 universe looks like but not enough to ruin the exploration of it, so things like is the citadel is rebuilt yet and so on.

At this point, anything they say about the game will pretty much be new. I just want to actually find out something about it not just how they are working on a new story using a next gen engine.

that's the first thing they would NEVER do.

If you all want a more optimistic point of view: It's not like we'll come out of that panel with less information than before. There is no way they would send several lead producers, designers, artists, etc. to sit and ask which color ice cream we like. We will get something.

Nothing.
It's just a panel where they'll talk about nothing.
I'll bet ya.

I'm excited for it, but not enough that I'll disappoint myself if they give us pretty much nothing. Hopefully we'll finally get some new details, and less of the same teasing and vague info that we already know of. Maybe the main character's name/background, or some insight as to when exactly this is taking place; are things I'm hoping for. We'll see how it goes though.

careful, don't underestimate disgruntled players' capacity for bitterness. you only need to take a look at the Battle.net forums to see the toxicity people are really capable over the net. you don't want to be stuck with the "reputation" of responding to useless threads/making useless posts as opposed to responding to what those people really want you to respond to.

The thing I'm probably most looking forward to hearing or reading is when and where the game is set, but I'm not sure if that is going to be revealed yet.

I feel like hearing a broad statement of where and when isn't outside the realm of possibility. They could say "It's years after the ME trilogy in a different galaxy". It's not specific but it's something.

I doubt they will go anywhere near the ending. What we can expect is because the next ME is based in another galaxy no matter what choice Shepard picked the effects will not appear. After all it was only the milky way effected. BW won't open up a can of worms by discussing the ending. They want everyone to forget about it, so they'll clean the slate by moving away from Shepard and the milky way galaxy and start a new. That's what they are doing, they can't do anything with that ending and they know it. That's way their moving as far away from it as possible.

Panel is tomorrow.
As for the 'when and where' of the next game. I'm expecting the same response they've been giving. "We have a cool idea on how we're going to keep it separate from the Shepard trilogy" (paraphrased)
