"What really happens when we sleep?"

Oh, come on...

Don't do stupid taglines.

Your mom hates this game.

C'mon, it's the EA marketing department.

Shadow Realms.  Which was trademarked by EA back in March.  When a title has the word "realms", it leads me to believe it could be an MMO, which would be  an automatic pass for me.

I'm guessing the premise is that we're travelling in a world of dreams.  In which case it's not really a stupid tag line.

That seems a bit... quick to judge. I'm not interested in another MMO either, but I'm not convinced EA would go that route after the lukewarm success they got from SWTOR's massive budget.

So we have something about a school that teaches you to fight ghosts and a possible title of Shadow Realms?

Yeah...

Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

I looooove me some horror games, but I don't get straight-out horror from this teaser.  Dreams are bazonkers & that's what I'm reading from it.

First day purchase for me, whatever it is.

On a totally unrelated note:

Aug 30-31: Harvest Festival.

My wife will hate this game as she did with Indigo Prophecy and Alan Wake.

Were it merely a reference to dreams, there would be no point in asking what really happens.

Really.

Also, Shadow Realms (or whatever it is) may not actually be a BioWare game.  Nowadays EA just put the BioWare label onto anything that's remotely related to RPG  (usually MMORPG) as a marketing ploy.   The game may not even be developed by BioWare.  BioWare is just a label used by EA for many of their titles.

I think it may not be a real BioWare game because of the live action trailer.   Has BioWare ever done a live action trailer? I thought BioWare's lifelike CGI characters more or less replace the need for live action.  It is likely a game made by another EA studio, and EA just put the "BioWare" label over it to increase exposure.

Mini-update: Oh yeah, there's this too. On 25 February, Failbetter Games—of Sunless Sea and Fallen London—announced that they were working with Bioware. "I can’t tell you anything at all about the project," Failbetter wrote at the time, "not for a little while yet – except to say that it’s a Failbettery one, down to its bones." Given that the Shadow Realms trademark was also filed late-Feb, it's more likely that this—not the Edmonton project—is what the teaser refers to.

Sorry if this is already posted here

Really.

Because everyone knows that when we sleep we're actually visiting a mysterious alien world?

Bioware's only ever outsourced CGI trailers, never made them themselves.  DAI didn't (And isn't getting one).  Also, if this is a Bioware RPG, they've never created one with a modern setting before, which would probably make a live action trailer that much cheaper, ad perhaps more effective if they're going for a gritty conspiracy theory urban fantasy feel (Especially makes sense with the ARG)

As far as I know, the only MMO with a Bioware label is SWTOR (Which really was developed by a Bioware studio).

"Shadow Realms"

A 2-word, 3-syllable title? Yep, that sounds like a Bioware game. :D

Because of the ominous and otherworldly events in the trailer?  Really, "What really happens when we dream?" isn't a stupid tagline if something mysterious beyond dreaming is going on while we're asleep.  We just don't know enough at this point to say what.

I have no idea what to make of this.

As such, I am wholly indifferent to it. If they want to entice me, they need to provide vastly more information about the nature of the gameplay.

And since BioWare doesn't seem keen on providing such information even about games they've announced, I'm not holding my breath.

New Bioware RPG in a modern setting with horror elements? Count me in! Obviously the teaser didn't tell us much, but i'm definitely looking forward to seeing more.

Because of the tag line + and the generally oneiromantic nature of the trailer
Nightmare
Shadow Realms

On the viral marketing website that's linked to earlier in the thread "This class is a requirement for students applying to act as liaison with the Radiant Empires." "Lt. Colonel Percival Fawcett was one of the greatest explorers of the 20th century. A skilled surveyor, he fearlessly ventured places no human had dared travel before."

I might be over-reaching a touch with my previous post, but it seems fairly obvious that that the premise about dreaming and lands beyond our own.

(I didn't mean alien as in space alien, but as in strange and exotic)
