Just becaue you're the leader of the inquisition doesn't mean the rest will follow your every word. If it's composed mostly of humans, why would they agree for an elfcentric inquisitor?

I doubt they'd be ok with the Inquisitor helping some elves, who've already been ungrateful to them in the past.

"Oh, you're giving the Dales back to the elves? I'm totally ok with it. Here, let me retreat back to my hovel and squat in dirt while eating turnips all day."

The protagonist becomes the leader of the Inquisition, a military organization, and the main character can be Dalish, Dwarven, or Vashoth, so being non-human isn't going to prevent the Inquisitor from being in a leadership position.

The Inquisition has bigger concerns than some elves who can't hold a land for more than 5 minutes.

You may feel it doesn't matter, but there are those of us who don't share that sentiment. For some of us, an elven homeland is something we would like to pursue with our character.

People in the past were pretty creative when it came to avoiding making babies. As dumb as Hawke is, he did at least one smart thing and avoided getting Merrill pregnant. She can barely take care of herself, much less of a baby.

Merrill was a highly intelligent person who was able to handle magic proficiently for several years and lend aid to the protagonist when needed, and she had a rather dry sense of humor. I don't think it's accurate to say she would be incapable of handling the responsibilities of a baby simply because she is dealing with culture shock in a foreign society.

No.

You're not an elf in real life, Xil. Relax, we're just having some fun until the game comes out, no need to take it personally.

Considering that outsiders are typically a threat to the Dalish, it shouldn't be a surprise that some of them are wary about a human being in close proximity to them.

the Dalish are also typically a threat to everyone around them

Some people don't find racism fun, even in a fictional setting.

if racism in a fictional setting bothers you that much you need to relax a little

Those elves have the Eluvian network, which could prove a major asset to the Inquisition. Justifying it as necessary to defeat the Breach should be easy.

Yeah, because a demon giving you a shiny rock is to be trusted.

I'd rather take the long way and risk swimming through molten lava than take a shortcut through a mirror and screw up the world because a demon felt generous.

Considering that the developers and the lore reads that the Dalish mostly try to avoid interactions with outsiders because of the threats against them, I don't see how that's the case.

You don't know what I am in real life, or others, who may come from a background with a great many parallels to the elves.

The way the Dalish tend to act is equivalent to a group of rednecks deciding they own a parking lot and shooting at anyone who drives by...

The same posts from Gaider that lists the clans that are somewhat bandits in Tevinter is also the one that says most clans try to avoid humans to avoid conflicts. As for Zathrian cursing the humans who murdered his son and raped his daughter, or Merrill speaking to a trapped spirit who was sundered from the Beyond, I don't think that reflects the behavior of most Dalish.

I view them as a closer parallel to the Taino people of Puerto Rico, given their struggle against an imperialist power that threatened their freedom of religion and way of life.

Oh please...

Anyway, I don't know what DA][ you played, but the one I did, Merrill was delusional and just told herself some major BS to make herself feel good because she screwed up. And culture shock shouldn't even exist for someone like Merrill who was supposed to become a Keeper and lead her clan. It's not like she grew up under a rock and they just found her. And if you're still in shock after 6 years of living among humans, then there's something very wrong with you.

Then haven't we met a single clan that doesn't act like that?

If you are going to resort to a "No true Scotsman" argument, you need to at least provide some evidence of what a true scotsman is

One elf screwing over their clan with a dumb decision is bad luck, two is a coincidence, three and I'm looking to have them put in cities for their own safety.
