Culture, history and faith can be preserved through generations. There's this thing called written word and oral tradition.

Oral tradition is a pretty shitty way to preserve any original record. Mutations and variances are endemic, and information loss is constant. Ever notice how the Dalish oral histories are practically devoid of dates, names, and individuals of note? If you aren't a legendary mythical figure or place, Dalish history homogenizes and forgets you.

Writing is better, but even that is limited- especially since the Elves have no comprehensive details of Arlathan culture as such. At best they have transcriptions of parts of their oral history.

Hm... I'm looking at a map and the Donarks actually look pretty promising.  Has no one attempted to take a ship north?  Eh... or would those waters be ruled by the Qunari?  I mean... on the eastern shore, it's kind of close to Seheron...  still, exploring this area by land or sea is better than trying to cross the ocean and find a continent that might not be there (less expensive too...).

Agreed.  If they can't fight, then they should be figuring out a way to leave.  Waiting around to go extinct doesn't make a lot of sense.

Based on what I'm reading, the Rivaini hail from an island chain out beyond the Donarks. Huh, also the Nakiri race of the Donarks provided helpful knowledge in constructing the Joining, specifically on drinking darkspawn blood.

Better idea!

How about we pile all the Qunari and Elves on Par Vollen before dumping the Qunari's entire store of Gatlock (Apart from whatever is needed to reverse engineer the stuff) and then blow the Island sky high, No more Qunari, No more whining angst driven prancing elves to deal with polluting the forests and best of all?

No More Qunari.

I think the Qunari come from the same continent that humans originated from, given the ancient pyramids on Par Vollen featuring qunari figures. I believe the Donarks could provide some safety and security to the Dalish (presuming that it's uninhabited, which may be the case since no one in the Anderfels mentions anyone from the region making contact with them).

Agreed about the risks in trying to find another continent.

The Chantry will likely be perpetually hostile to the Elvhen, so it might be a suitable choice. Given the Arlathvenn taking place, I could see some trying to make the case to make a mass exodus to the Donarks, instead of remaining in the region with the Breach and dangerous spirits pouring out from the Beyond.

The only mention of anything inhabiting the Donarks seem to be the Nakiri and the race that was the precursor to the Rivaini people. Neither seem to be hostile.

Genocide is never funny.  Unless it involves elves, then it's hilarious.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean they'll want to share or give up their  land... the elves should still send scouts, just in case they're friendly, or too spread out to really own the entire jungle.

<_<   Who the heck are the Nakiri?  Man, the elves can't catch a break...

"It is thought that Nakiri of The Donarks was the one who first suggested imbibing the blood of the darkspawn, as his people were known to consume the blood of their enemies to absorb their power. Tevinter mages in the group added to this knowledge, and it is said that elvenslaves also contributed ancient knowledge from Arlathan. This was in return for being treated as equals in the order and with the intention that, after the Blight was ended, they would concentrate on freeing the elves. The Joining symbolically cut their ties to all worldly concerns, in order to dedicate themselves to fighting the darkspawn. They called themselves the Grey Wardens, and would accept anyone, no matter their race or background, without distinction if only deemed suitable to join the order.[4]"

I'm doubtful the Nakiri will accommodate the arrival of the Dalish, assuming they are still around. Maybe there's land beyond the Donarks that's uninhabited. As Thedas may be in the southern hemisphere, it's possible there could be a significant stretch of land where the Elvhen where the elves could finally settle and build a place of their own, although a mass exodus may make more sense than sending a small expeditionary unit to make it all that way and back, especially given the plethora of darkspawn in the Anderfels.
