I'd like to know if any of you guys got a suggestion (or more than one) for a modification that would allow me to equip gear to my companions?

Now, yes obviously I know about the Dragon Age 2 Nexus (nice hub for community-made mods). I've looked for the mods that seemingly allow such a thing, but when I look at their respective posts section Every. Single. One. of them have several issues. You know, such as invisible companions (Aveline apparently is known to just be a floating head at the start of the game with such mods installed) or at least invisible body parts (just invisible hands, or just the legs, or just the feet). I haven't tried a single one of those mods yet because quite frankly I don't have that much time to just go and download them all and try them separately starting a new game everytime and leveling up to 10+ to fully try all gear types on most unlocked companions.

So... *catches breath* ... yeah. I wanted to ask for perhaps THE "companion equip" mod, if there's one, or do I really have to go through them all to find out by myself? If I absolutely have to then... ok I'll wait next week I guess when I finally get my vacations kicking in.

Diversified Follower Armors could help. I'd do more to help you but I play on PS3.

Lock Bash is a nice mod, those Void Robes are also grand looking as well so any early Mage character you make can look as awesome as Warriors and Rogues. Valuable trash, or whatever those sell only items are called, is pretty good too as it actually lets you gain money and feel like you're a Noble and not some poor bum throughout the 3 acts.

And what Dabrikishaw said is correctly, that's the best for that stuff though I personally don't use it as I like the unique looks the Companions have.

Thanks.

I've tried it, been playing a few hours (Level 7 now) and I noticed a few (minor) issues.

º The regular "Hurlock" darkspawn variant at the beginning were completely invisible, I could only see their respective red circle on the ground, but fortunately enough my companions could target and attack them (the meshes I presume were simply invisible). And curiously another hurlock I believe, perhaps a higher ranked one was visible, there were two or three of those total, but the rest (the regular ones) were all invisible. I never experienced that problem before but it wasn't too bad (still visually annoying to fight invisible enemies, and sort of breaking the immersion).

º Some NPCs have missing parts of their body, so far it seems to be rare, but in the Dalish camp there's two specific NPCs that have missing body parts... by missing I mean invisible (well, maybe it's actually physically not there, like missing meshes, not sure).

Here's the two NPCs in question:

That guy is missing most of his body, poor lad.

And that woman (she gives a fetch quest, can't recall her name), missing both arms basically.

And there's other examples (in two or three places I've seen so far). I guess that there's just no similar mods out there that don't cause similar issues and I just have to deal with it. After all, the game wasn't designed for that to begin with. For now, however, the mod is "stable enough" and I'll just keep using it.

I'd say the best version of this kind of mod is DA2 Equip Your Party v3 (http://www.nexusmods...ge2/mods/2646/?), it's gone through a lot of bug fixes and even addresses the invisible Aveline problem (by putting her in different armor at her introduction).  I think the least problematic version of this mod is 3B, where you can equip armor, but your companion's appearances don't change; this is the only way to equip the nonhumans Fenris, Varric, and Merrill with any game armor you like without running into frequent model issues that lead to them being floating heads, and should also help you avoid various appearance bugs in the rest of the game.  So you get the stats without the new appearances  There's other ways to change your companions' appearances without mucking up their models, look through the Nexus for new companion-specific looks.
