I'm still worried about the lack of dialogue options. They have told us we can have different tones and such in dialogue yet every conversation we have seen its just 3 or 4 options and all neutral. Please bioware show us a video of the different types of dialogue. Everything else looks good though I am liking the combat looks like a good mix of DAO and DA2.

 

I believe in the E3 demo some of the dialogue options were actually removed because they contained spoilers.

I wouldn't read too much into it. It's likely that for the demo they just put the companions they were going to use in it + Varric and Cassandra.

It's also likely you can meet them in different order based on what places you visit first (like in DAO if you went to Orzammar last you got Oghren last, if you go there first you can have Oghren early).

 

True, but it does make sense that you'll have Cass, Varric, and Solas earliest. I can see a situation where you get to your stronghold and Cass is all, "In order to understand your powers we'll need a Fade expert. As it so happens!"

I wouldn't worry. In a lot of the materials they've released they've been pretty neutral, and thats a better way to get the general feel of the game to the public. 

 

If they go with the polite/stern/sarcastic options strictly through a video/conference, then people that tune in might go "Oh lame, i don't wanna be a sissy/angry/jerk. Why is the game like that?" while the more neutral approach is "Oh I'm just a guy/girl"

That is unfortunate if true, but it makes sense I suppose for the general public. Still would be nice to see the inquisitor getting angry or being a jerk to people.

 

This looks like different tones:
 

Yes the tree looks like its different but when you hear the character talk it all sounds neutral imo. When the player is going over the options all of them have those arrows = same tone?

I can see that but I doubt every dialogue with different tones have spoilers.

The part where Solas lights up torch with green fire that brings out demons.  Is that in some part of a way in finding secrets in the area? For some reason that's confusing me.   :huh:

Yeah, Mike mentioned another perk a while ago that represented knowledge of etiquette and protocol, which would open up new dialogue when talking with noble characters.

Even aside from the gameplay aspects, i think it's also a really cool way of customising the interests and expertise of the Inquisitor, and roleplaying to a certain extent.

 

Yeah I love that as well reminds me of the way you can costumize characters in some tabletop RPGs.

In early Inquisition builds, didn't terrain affect how the Inquisitor moved? I seemed to remember big plodding steps through swamps because of the wet sand and such. I don't think we saw that in this vid?

I don't recall that, but it may just be my memory for such a thing not being there.

I saw it applied in the Crestwood demo at PAX last year, when climbing a ridge or a hill.

 

Maybe also in the desert region, whatever that was called - the party definitely seemed to have unique animations for sand.

 

It's possible those animations don't exist for the Fallow Mire though, given that it's mostly flat land and water.

Regarding dialogue options:

One very important thing I want to point out is that during the conversation with the dwarven female in the very beginning, I got to choose freely what to answer – of course – and I can confirm that, like in DA2, there seems to be always one diplomatic/kind response, one direct/aggressive response and YES the middle option is still a sarcastic option! During the demo I played the little pictures implicating your response were missing, but I saw them during other gameplay shown earlier, so I’m pretty sure they’ll be there in the end. Well, since during some presentations of the game they were talking about “clever” responses, I was unsure as to how sarcastic “clever” was going to be… I am relieved to tell you it is just as awesome and snarky as our beloved purple Hawke in DA2 was and seems to be a constant option. Other than that it seems like you don’t get locked into most conversations anymore but can exit them at any given time and even move the camera around, similar to how it is in Skyrim.


Now I'm off to re-watch and listen to Ali Hillis...

The artwork in those cards is gorgeous! I wanted to order the Inquisitor's edition specifically for the tarot card set, but it's sold out completely in Canada, and there is no way I'm shelling out crazy money to obnoxious resellers. I really hope the cards will be released separately at some point. Anyone know who to ask or who to plead to? I NEED to get a set!!!
