the issue is: You meet Andrastre, as a super powered angel type thing.  This completly invalidates the Elven pantheon, the old gods, the Avvar faiths as it proves the maker is the one true god.

If you are referring to that "being of light" we saw in the trailer, we don't know at all if that is Andraste. (My theory is that it's either Divine Justinia, or a spirit of Faith).

if it is Divine Justinia then she has ascended to angelic status. same problem.  If it is only a spirit of faith why put it in?  I simply want the right to not follow the chantry, to pick another faith.

Firstly, was this meeting in a DLC I missed?

Secondly, the existence of Andraste and the Maker have no effect on the other religions and deities at all.  The Creators didn't create the world, the exact nature and "origin" of the Old Gods is unknown, and we don't know much about the Avaar faiths either way.  It's really only the Chantry that proposes the Maker as the only actual god but that doesn't make it true.

We have literally no idea who or what that glowy entity is, or when they appear in the game, or what they do/are doing in that moment or at any other time. Speculation is fun, but using such speculation as a solid basis for any argument is pointless.

Can't be Divine Justinia, she's been telling me she's been spending more time at the Bungie forums lately.

the big glowy angel thing and the title herald of andrastre to mean that WAS andrastre,

since we have seen neither directly nor thru reports any comaparabel beings from other faiths it really suggests that the Maker is real, meaning the only argument left is over doctorine.

I think its a safe guess to make that its Andraste. All people can do is guess anyway.

We've been assured by the devs time and time again that we don't have to express belief in/follow the chantry. Also, we've always had the option to say we don't believe in the maker/Andraste in both of the previous games.

About being called the "Herald of Andraste": After people see you coming out of the Fade, some start to think that maybe you've been sent by the Maker or Andraste to help humanity. That in no way means that this is or isn't true. It's just what they think.

This is Allan Schumacher's response to the "Herald" thing.

yes that you can doubt or not be a loyalist, not that you can say you don't belief in the maker. Massive difference.  Martin Luther wasn't a Catholic loyalist and expressed doubts...by founding a different christian faith if you see what I am saying.

I suppose we can only wait and see what options the game offers once it's actually out.

Assumptions, assumptions everywhere.

We don't know if you can have your Inquisitor say they don't believe in the Maker or not.  Mainly because we haven't played the game yet to find out... and one comment from Allan is not the whole story.

Look at the statue on the right in this GIF.

Then pause this video (an older dev diary) at 2:29. Look at the statues.

They're identical. Probably means nothing, but it is interesting nonetheless.

It seems likely they are important figures (both the statues themselves and who they represent) in whatever culture it was that raised them up.  Possibly Andrastian?

I think I've seen similar statues in those screenshots of Therinfal Redoubt. They are Andrastian, most likely.

Watching the first part of the demo (well actually the second part but whatever) and I swear Blackwall sounds like Sean Bean.

That is a pretty excellent accent. Loving the voices they've chosen so far.

Vivienne's VA video was "delayed", and GE's was filmed 2 months ago. I wonder when they'll be released. Or IF they will...

Oh come on. I can think of a dozen ways how this could be Andraste and still prove nothing, She was misunderstood. She was wrong and found out later, but faith was already established. She was always representing one side in a war of gods. She was captured by a demon to mislead humans. The writings of the chantry left out some important apocryphal texts which declare that the maker has to snuggle with the elven pantheon twice a week for making up for the fact that it was all the human's fault.

Take your pick. Those are just ideas I've pulled out of my nose. I don't think any are true.
However, if I am sure of two things It's those: David Gaider will always find ways to mislead and surprise us and he will always find shades of grey where we thought only black or white could exist.

Exactly this. For one thing, your "super powered angel thing" exists nowhere but your wildly overreacting imagination. Two, it could not be andraste, it could be the dead Divine(it could be some random spirit, it could be flemeth for all we know). And third, if it was andraste, how on earth would that invalidate the rest of thedas's mythology? If one sect if real, so could the rest. In fact, we have evidence that the old gods could grant magic powers to their followers(ala corypheus) and no ones losing their **** saying that old gods are completely true and the only option. So calm down and wait.

On a side note, are people really believing that we'll get titled the "herald of andraste" without any input awhile having zero options to disagree? Really?

PS: first human inquisitor is being named Harold now, thanks to those who came
Up with that :)

Your inquisitor shall be known as "Harold the Herald" henceforth! :)
