IS THAT HAWKE !?
Yes.
IS THAT HAWKE !?
Yes.
No playable demo at the show booth at GamesCom, just a German moderated playthrough of the same rescue-soldiers-from-avvar mission. And the new trailer, in German.
Not worth waiting two hours for is what I have to say in retrospective.
Will have to wait until Saturday to get my hands on the actual playable demo during my scheduled playslot.
What, you got a slot for the demo?! How? I only got told to gtfo by the German folks, even though I was trying to get someone from Bioware to say 'hi' too and 'thanks for DA!'. Even with shiny templar armor not worthy :'(
And that Avvar vid was nice! Loved seeing and hearing Cole, Blackwall and Solas. If only that German guy would stop talking out of sinc with the subtitles... and the German voice for Cullen got me cracking up. Got to agree that I didn't find it worth waiting 2 hours for....
Are you dutch by any chance, attended the Shadow Realms fan event and found a familiar face/hat whilst waiting in line at the DAI booth today?
I got the slot via the German community. Draco Ordinis is one of the fellows that organizes the whole thing and you could email him if you wanted a playslot, though that was weeks before the GamesCom started and now all playslots are occupied of course.
The best you can get now without a playslot is showing up tomorrow or on saturday and you may get to enter the demo room and watch (it's what he told me anyway today). Today was youtubers-only so they didn't let others in to watch (I tried too), but it should work tomorrow.
I do not know however if that is also limited to people with Community Lounge access.
Also, I asked and there's hardly anyone from the BioWare DA team present at GamesCom. No one who could tell the EA staff to stand aside and let an honest Andrastian watch the Maker's work.
This year's GamesCom is rather lackluster for any BioWare fans who don't have access to the special events.
Yup, that's me! The Dutch one who was very good at letting the cleric die at Shadow Realms.
I thought it already a pity that all Gamescom related communication went via the German community. I thought they popped up more frequently in the English section last year, as not every visitor is from Germany....
I am indeed a bit disapointed by the lack of DA stuff, as it is just a few months till launch... and I lack the contacts to be considered special enough to get anywhere else than regular ground
Like I said, show up, ask bold questions, let your plate glitter in the sun (purely conincidential of course) and tell the guy up front that if you aren't allowed to at least watch others have fun with the demo, you're going to smite his apostate bum (because we all know, people who deny Templars are apostates, all of them) right next to the Maker.
Better do it after you've dealt with anything you wanted to visit at GamesCom for the day though. Don't know how it went for you today, but technically, the EA Community Lounge is outside the official GamesCom premises and if you go there, some guy at a checkpoint might flag you as exiting the fair, thus invalidating your ticket for the day!
EA briefed the checkpoints, but I do not know if that applies for everyone, or just those with the Community Lounge pass.
I also hope I didn't start a visitor avalanche stampeding to the Lounge the next days ... they might strike me off their welcome list for the next couple visits in Cologne.
I was also disappointed. Not by the Demo, that was great, but I was really loocking forward to play the game and everything indicated, that it was playable by everyone and in the Lounge you just had a fixed playslot without waiting. I also wanted such an invite, but they were only available for Friday and Saturday, but my Gamescom-Ticket was only for today and by the time they announced the invites, Friday and Saturday were already sold out.. ![]()
Also, why didn't Cameron Lee and Blair Brown show up. They were definitely their. Cameron even posted a picture of the line.
Wow. I was there today and very nearly got into the Line to DA:I in Hall 6. Felt rather bad because I didn't go in the End, but now I'm kinda glad I didn't waste three+ Hours there. I would have expected more, to be honest. But, alas, it's only some Months until November.

I think they were only present for the business day yesterday.

Oh, believe me, I know. My canon Hawke romanced him
.
(Then she spared Anders, removing the last sliver of a chance that she would ever get laid.)
Oh! In one of your playthroughs you should make your Inquisitor a Sebastian look alike and then head canon it as being Sebastian with memory loss and have him flirt with and romance Hawke if possible.
Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but did anyone else notice that during the fight with the Hand of Korth Avvar leader, Solas' portrait changed as he took damage so it looked bruised and bloody? I thought that was REALLY neat.
I didn't notice. Seems they're doing more with character portraits, as its been said that if companions are talking behind you and you can't see them, their portraits light up when they're speaking so you know who's saying what.
New infos added to OP:
Cameron Lee @Cameron__Lee
I'm doing a live Q&A on Dragon Age Inquisition on the main EA booth stage at 5pm. Come say hi everyone ![]()
Ability Drain @AbilityDrain
No idea. I'm pretty much just gonna get up there and see what happens.
QA will now be at 5:15 I'm told. Lol I have no idea what's planned for this ![]()
Cameron Lee @Cameron__Lee
Well that was quick. Couple of questions and I got sent off stage lol.
Wow, what an awesome thing to wake up to. Loved getting a glimpse at the CC and the war table, excited that Hawke will make an appearance and is customizable, loved seeing more combat, the religious undertones are interesting, ahhh so much to mention. Gotta watch the trailer and demo another 50 times to let it all sink in. Is it November yet!?
Where did you hear that Hawke is customizable? i barely just found out in the trailer that Hawke shows up somehow~
*gives Mr. Lee a hug*

Might make it less easy to get careless.

So I watched the Gamescom demo and noticed that Cole gained approval when you saved the people from the Avaar. Has anything been said specifically about how approval will work? Will it be like DA 2 style?

Just that it will be based off of your choices mostly.
Wasn't it also mentioned somewhere that companions can leave if they don't approve of what you're doing, kind of like in Origins? At least I'm pretty sure I've seen that pop up a time or two in some threads.

I recall seeing that mentioned somewhere. They did mention that you can finish the game with one companion. If this is true perhaps they took out the rivary side of the approval bar and made it more like DAO's style of the approval bar. I am just glad they are still keeping to the numbers system and keeping approval visible outside of just dialogue. ![]()
