  1. Does the grenades seem weak to  you folks?
  2. Did this N7 sleep through combat roll school? Sometimes he sidesteps... but never when I need him to sidestep under soft cover... It's not a problem with my spacebar.

Thanks all,

Gawlron

1- His grenades don't do a ton of damage like Lift Grenades for example, but they are useful to stagger and so to compensate the low mobility of the Destroyer.

2- The Destroyer can sidestep when Devastator Mode is off, but not when this power is activated.

1. His grenades are powerful. They have a lot of force and deal good damage. Pretty good to stagger enemies. Think of them as a utility power, rather than a main damage dealing power.

2. Destroyer can't doge while devastator mode is active*. If you want to perform an emergency dodge (like dodging warp balls), deactivate DM, and cancel the latter half of that animation with the dodge.

* There's a glitch that lets you dodge even while in DM. It's a bug and not the way DM is meant to work.

Slightly ninja'd.

Now it all makes sense.

Doesn't matter... he's been replaced by my Geth Trooper. :D

MF'n Grenades can be leveled to a whole bunch of force without investing purely in force evolutions.  They are pretty great.  If you could damage yourself with them, they would be a lot less useful since many times you are using them as quick stagger for close targets and you aim them near your feet. ;)

We're hooked, now reel us in.

Edit: here's my build. Like everyone's saying, his grenades aren't a primary damage dealer, but they're good for crowd control and detonating.

His grenades are amazing, but you need to use them up close. They have no accuracy from distance and you'd be better of dealing damage by insulting the enemy.

Ah - but like the other frag grenades they can detonate ammo powers - just randomly spray Typhoon/Incendiary rounds into a spawn to get them all nice and toasty then lob in a multi-frag or two. Don't really need to be that accurate when everything in the area is primed :D

MFG have a really bad spread. You'll do a hell of a lot more damage if you fire them point blank into a boss' face or run into a spawn and fire them at your own feet. From slightly further out, though, you can stagger enemies across a huge area.

I'm not sure what TNS meant, but there's a glitch which enable the Destroyer to execute a combat roll (like standard humans) under Devastator Mode. To perform it, the player has to use the commands needed to dodge while switching weapons. It's not hard to do but the timing is tricky under ennemies fire.

Other races who usually sidestep (like quarians and geth) can execute a combat roll with this same glitch. I think that Caineghis has videos about it if you want to take a look.

No loufi, I am not talking about that. I am talking about side-stepping with DM active.

Watch for about 5 seconds, from 17:45 from there on to see what happens.

I had this happen when I try to revive-dodge or dodge after jumping off a ladder. I am not exactly sure if that is the cause but I've had it happen at random times (i.e., sometimes I can side-step after revive or jumping off a ladder, but sometimes I can't)

^ I see. I never had that happen. Could be interesting to know whether it's a PC glitch only.

Just don't bring him to platinum or else you attract a lot of attention. He's really popular!

To OP:

1) You can spec them to do maximum force and damage, but you should use them as a mean to save yourself from Banshees and Phantoms, or whatever is trying to kill you besides possessed abominations. I tend to use his grenades as a detonator for my incendiary rounds.

2) He can't dodge in Devastator mode, and his mobility is decreased in that mode as well, but he cannot be staggered while in Devastator mode. Also, like what NightSlasher said, there is a glitch where he can dodge while in Devastator mode.

This. MFG are really powerful. They can be used as primary power on any difficulty, especially if you're detonating ammo effects.

Multifrags are one of the most powerful nades in the game if we're looking simply at burst damage. Damage is per piece and you can get up to five shrapnel pieces. They also each function as individual detonators which makes the Venom the ultimate tool of mook destruction on him.

On paper they are terrifyingly good, but in-game they can seem underwhelming, which is probably why the OP asked the question. I know that I've tried them (all maxed out for damage) and locked on and launched them at the centre cannibal of three standing 5 metres from me. Result was three live cannibals and one dead N7 Destroyer. This might also be why some of the Destroyers I see pugging have a Particle Rifle and spec out of MFGs, no ammo box crawls needed.

Are they affected by lag or on/off host issues?

They aren't really affected by lag, they are mainly affected by the multi bit.  You need to land all of them on a target to do high damage.  Hence they really are most damaging when you use them at fairly close range.

To be honest, no mook can stak a full MFG or two to da face, so venom is definitely not needed to be a mook destroyer with him XD

Never shoot them towards an enemy unless it's something like a brute/ravager/atlas and the like. Aim to the floor on their feet next time, and you'll have three dead cannibals and one happy destroyer.

I would imagine the spread might be. Clusters are so maybe they have a tighter spread off host, IDK. The Venom helps me stagger to get close to the cluster of mooks and primes them for a combo explosion as well. You can take whatever other weapon to pretty much eat bosses with DM.

I know one way it can trigger is by getting stuck in a Collector's web with DM on then shooting your way out. After you get free you are allowed to side hop unless you turn DM off then on again.
