I guess that's a possibility as well. Then again, we've been told that this game was halfway through development months ago. While the game started development shortly after the release of ME3, let's assume that development started in late 2012 (after Bioware Montreal finished the Omega DLC, when they really had a chance to start full work on ME Next). We get this:

November 2012: Beginning of ME Next development

April 2014: Halfway through development tweet

November 2015: Release of ME Next (Hypothetical)

That's about 16 months. Double that and we get 32. Round it off to 36 and we have a 3 year development cycle. With a 3 year development cycle, we get a release date of Fall 2015

Considering that DAI will have close to 3 years of real and full on development (It was announced on September 2012, but DLC stopped in March 2012, so that's the real beginning of development), we get this:

March 2012: Beginning of DAI development

November 2014: Release of DAI

That's about 32 months of development. If you want, you can even bump it to 36 months, for preliminary/brainstorming work.

My point is that according to all the info we've gotten:

1) DAI took longer because the Dragon Age team was the sacrificial team for the next-gen. This involves tech stuff, like frostbite

2) ME Devs have said their dev cycle would be decreased thanks to the efforts of the Dragon Age team. The engine is now optimized for Bioware RPGs, so stuff like dialogue wheels and RPG systems are already coded at their base

Basically, ME Next should have a shorter development cycle than DAI. As such, the game would not release in 2016 unless the team needed to expand the scope of the game like the DA team needed. ME Next in 2015 is most definitely a likely possibility.

Besides, as much as I hate to admit it, having a space opera blockbuster like Mass Effect, amongst the first big space/rpg games for the next gen, to release in the holiday season would be nothing but $$$ to the eyes of EA.

I wish Bioware takes all the time they need to make an incredible game, but based on what we know, it cannot be as far out as some estimates have lead us to believe.

I agree with the points you make. I only wish the Bioware not to make the same mistake as some of the other companies recently - announcing the game as console-exclusive (new Tomb Raider is the most prominent example).

i would prefer ME not to be rushed in any way. I'd wait for another two years if it means receiving complete and well-polished product!

I totally agree with you. My point is that they might already have plenty of time to make the game they want to make. Considering the 3 year dev cycle and the sacrifice of the DA team, 3 years is perfect to make an awesome and expansive Mass Effect game.

About the game coming to PC, I highly doubt Bioware would abandon their very first fans, since they first made games on PC. No word on it though. Besides, I think the new Tomb Raider is a particular case, since the exclusivity would have meant little if it also came out on PC. Then PS4 owners with a PC (which is probably most of them) could just hook up a PS4/XBONE controller and have the exact same experience (with better graphics to boot). That's why Microsoft asked them not to make a PC version, at least until the end of the exclusivity deal, so they could maximize on new console sales.

Then again, EA has been quite close to Microsoft this console gen (exclusive Titanfall, bonuses, etc.) Hope it doesn't affect Mass Effect's targeted consoles.

Humans exploring space is kind of a key theme of the Mass Effect series and storyline and you can argue that  the other Council races, the Turians, Asari and Salarians were based on caricatures of human tendencies. Story wise, greater minds than i might be able to come up with a story and characters that would allow non-human leads to be incorporated. Even so we're talking about human writers imagining an alien race and human players pretending to be aliens all w/o ever having met a real life one (except for me and let me tell you they are f ing boring. Always with the anal probe thing.... I hope it's not sexual... It isn't is it?)

Any astronomers able to make anything out of this picture?

Hmm, not a bad idea. I'll make it a point to hassle my astronomy professor within the next week or so, for science.

Somebody was saying Andromeda galaxy but the talk died down because its a birds eye view. Andromeda is the nearest spiral galaxy to the milky way too apparently. It's in one of the pinned threads somewhere can't remember which.

Do you want the liver served cook or raw? I personally take my salarian liver raw. It was a delicacy in my cycle  B)

I'm not an astronomer but I am some guy who has looked at galaxies.

So, if that's a sufficient qualification, I'll tell you that it doesn't look quite like any galaxy I've ever seen.

The closest thing is a lenticular.

Oh, and please do tell the aliens I want a word the next time you're being probed, if they do words.

Well I didn't noticed this.

Going to add it now.

Sorry for inactivity guys, but BSN is not that interesting to me without some new ME stuff to talk about. And I'm not that into DA to dwell into discussions nearly as much I did with ME.

Did I missed any other update?

Well, I went to Comic-Con today. I don't know if you guys would be willing to add the info I got and whether it's new or not. These are based off conversations I had with Yanick Roy, and may not be 100% accurate (based off memory, sorry I'm not perfect ;) )

'' According to Yanick Roy, they want to return to the basics, like with ME1. He explained that as the trilogy progressed, they refined it, in every aspect, in order to tell the story they wanted to tell. Now they have an opportunity to go back and recheck how they did each aspect of the game. He also mentioned wanting to give the player more opportunity to role-play and choice, and when I mentioned that by ME3 the game had become ''Pick Paragon to win and maximize EMS'', he said that was something they were going to look at again. He obviously didn't talk timeline, location or links to previous games, but he did say that the game was in the thick of development, as we all know. ''

And to answer my own question from this thread on whether we'll get more info this year:

'' When I asked whether we'd get more info this year, he said definitely keep an eye out, but don't expect anything major. When I asked about DAI, he said they definitely didn't want to reveal anything too major that would come and steal DAI's thunder (he went so far as to claim that it's going to be the best game Bioware's ever put out.). And when I was talking with Ann she said to definitely keep an eye for N7 Day, so it looks like we might get something after all. ''

And that's about it. Hope you all had a good weekend!

Salarians make up to 3 confirmed races which will return in the new game, together with humans and Krogans. According to mass effect canon the Salarian race did not cross the paths of the humans until after the Relay 314 incidence between the humans and Turians. This suggests that Mass Effect 4 will be set at some time in the future or the same time as the trilogy.

Is this correct?

I'm still not sure what to make of those tweets tbh I was looking at them and wondering "Is this a hint? Can they just not contain their excitement?" then again it could be nothing.

@CroGamer Bioware hasn't let me post links vids pics or anything other than words since I signed up in July I don't know why.

Is this correct?

Yes, but it basically tells us nothing.

Turians and humans had only few months of skirmishes with only major battle at one small human colony.

People expecting a game around that time are just plain silly.

Too vague of statements to be officially considered confirmed.

Dunno I've tried asking in the forum help section but nothing. I know how to post on forums pics vids etc but can't do it here. Copy paste doesn't work either for some reason but it's only on this forum.
