Had we not officially confirmed this previously? Huh. Woo Frostbite!
In fairness, I think the fandom is currently in that early-early stage of, "if you remind us it's a Mass Effect title, we'll cheer and drop our phones" territory.

From what I can tell it was heavily implied before and we lacked any source but Wikipedia for our changelog, which also had no source either.
Yeah, I thought that was old news.
Pretty sure they mentioned in back in... like.... September 2012 or something.
We might be lucky and get some Concept Art released, but other then that I doubt we will get to see anything major even as a in-game screenshot.
Inquisition pretty much made any new ME content go under embargo.
That is one more reason to look forward to DA:I.
Once that gets released, we should start hearing something about the next Mass Effect game.
Hopefully with lots of sentences that start out with "If you look at what we did with inquisition...." and "One element we added to the Dragon Age MP..."
What engine did the previous games use?
What engine did the previous games use?
According to my retail boxes for ME1 and 2, the engine was the Unreal Engine, retail box for ME3 didnt say but a quick google search specifies its engine as Unreal Engine 3. ![]()
Yes, they all used modified Unreal Engine.

"According to Canadian developer, BioWare, the next entry into the beloved Mass Effect series (Mass Effect 3‘s ending aside) is still a considerable ways off in terms of an official release date, however, the press and public alike continue to speculate on what Mass Effect 4 may bring to the proverbial gaming table. Fortunately for Mass Effect fans around the world, some new developments regarding the series’ follow-up, Mass Effect 4, may arise from this year’s Raleigh, North Carolina-based military science fiction convention, Honorcon, where the game will be featured in a panel – “Science Fiction in Video Gaming.”

That's... not a panel hosted by Bioware though. It's some random people talking about modern sci-fi games and they happened to mention Mass Effect as an example.
Yeah, that's a... pretty big leap. To me, it reads like the editor reminded the author to inject "new content" into their blurb without specifying that it should be relevant.
Gamerheadlines lacks quite a bit off credibility to be taken seriously.
Unlikely the next ME game will have same system requirements.
Unlikely the next ME game will have same system requirements.
Probably pretty similar though. Same engine, same consoles (except not cross-gen), some of the same developers. Within 1-2 years of each other.
You're probably right that it won't be the exact same.
Too much fan hyperbole, everybody wants something, expects something. Expect nothing of substance 2 weeks before the release of DAI.
Its been circulated. Frankly, for me I think it would be disastrous, because I used MEHEM and I am not sure how that would kick over into the new game. As long as it carries over as my 30K EMS destroy, I'm good with it.
I really don't want many, if any, references to ME3. I did not like the game. I have well over 40 saved games from ME1 and 2 that are all in cryo stasis forvever. Think of them as Shepard time capsules, to be opened in case of emergency.
When I die, they will die with me, like my memories. I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.
Almost all of those websites aren't actual news organisations. They make money from people searching for "Mass Effect" and clicking on the articles hoping for real information.
In that case, they're literally just copying and pasting forum posts from Chris Priestly and Yanick Roy that are about two years old.
What's worse about that ecosystem of stupid clickbait news websites is that they feed off each other and link back to each other, so something that was wrong or outdated gets posted on half a dozen pages and people who don't know any better suddenly think it's real information.
That news post a few days ago about new Mass Effect information at "HonorCon" is a great example. There was never going to be any new information at that event. It had nothing to do with Bioware. The organisers even responded in the comments section of one of the articles:
To reiterate what Richard Dansky said before, there is NO announcement about Mass Effect 4 scheduled for HonorCon. This is simply a panel discussion on the history of science fiction in video games and what the future may hold. We have no formal connection with any game company nor any new information to share. Please correct the article as soon as possible to reflect this.
There is no announcement about Mass Effect 4 scheduled for HonorCon. The mention of the game in a panel description was strictly tongue-in-cheek and in no way meant to imply any formal connection with BioWare or the Mass Effect series. Please update your article immediately to reflect this
But because Google News aggregates news from everywhere regardless of its authenticity, a bunch of other websites then went and copied that fake report because it's going to get them advertising revenue from curious people:
Mass Effect 4 will be featured in a panel at Honorcon 2014
Mass Effect 4 to be featured at Honorcon 2014
Mass Effect 4: Erste offizielle Details kommen auf HonorCon!
Mass Effect 4 ist Ende Oktober auf der Honorcon 2014!
Mass Effect Next покажут на Honorcon 2014?
Honestly, unless next news comes from IGN or GameInformer or directly from Bioware devs official tweeter account, it's nothing but a click-bait.
Its just junk clickbait. Worse than most that Gawker Media puts out. Purely there to get you to click and read and leave once you realized it was a lie.
But yeah, there's been info floating around for a while that the next game will recognize choices and consequences of the original Mass Effect trilogy. It has just been often along with the bit that the next game will still be separated from the trilogy and we shouldn't expect specific you-chose-this-so-this-happens linearity between ME3 and NME.
Basically, the gist so far is that it won't be entirely stand-alone.
There is still nothing confirmed on what 'time' and 'place' and 'realm' the next game takes place in. We only have the barest words on how it doesn't have to be any one thing specific (prequel/sidequel/sequel/reboot/etc), and that there will be some sort of reference to our Shepard experience, even if minimally. They also do not want us to focus our thoughts on 'what happens after ME3', as if to imply a sort of direct or even indirect sequel to it.
Just wait and see what they have for us. I'm sure it'll at least be interesting to hear, when they do get permission to talk.

Its totally clickbait but the quotes themselves are real and should be paid attention to. Its the closest they've gotten, in many ways, to explaining what the next game is.

I dig it. Who would know better than the people we are in touch with through this site? It IS BioWare after all.

Eh this is the company that had CM statements PR-denying/deflecting Omega, Mass Effect on PS3, Citadel, and probably more.
I tend to trust the developers' statements to a certain degree, but that's about it. Even things that they do say can amount to speculation, due to the development process changing direction on things. Dat ABC ending and Rachni totally mattering..
