All one of them?  I'm not putting my 40+ other Shepards through that mess.

That's a shame. I've tailored Shepards specifically with ME3 in mind and enjoyed every minute of them (well, alright, not every minute), and I ended up having more ME3 runs under my belt than ME2. Bring on the remastered trilogy, BioWare.

I'm glad you get to enjoy it.  Personally, I can;t get past those endings.

I'm considering doing another full run of ME1 and 2 though - you know - one those no stone left unturned runs.

Like I've probably said before ME3 does have an attractive quality because it's the most modern game and the latest known point in canon, which makes ME2 seem less interesting in hindsight whereas before I would imagine all sorts of ideas about in what direction the plot would go in ME3.

I play ME3 quite a lot even though most are partial playthroughs... my total game time is definitely higher in ME3 than in ME2 for sure.

I still hope in a remastered version that we might get some upgraded graphics besides a 1080p boost, which is nothing new to me because I'm already at 1080p at about 40 average fps on my laptop. Going back to the PS3 version is just... I mean, I dig controllers and vibrations when you shoot is cool and all but that framerate, that 720p and that lack of AF... it looks so grainy and choppy in comparison.

I mean it could be anything, perhaps a texture overhaul or a compeltely 1:1 face import across all 3 games. They could make their ME3 body meshes and face animation system work in ME1 somehow and make Udina black-haired or gray haired in all games.

No canon ending and no need to worry about saves? Hmmmm...

Reboot.

Eh, it could've been worse.  Almost was, in fact.

As much as I hated the original endings to ME3, I still think it's the best game in the trilogy. I'd probably rank ME2 higher though if not for the Extended Cut.

Sure. Characters are certainly one of the most important aspect of the story, and probably BioWare's strongest point.

My objection to them being regarded as pillars is the fact that the specific characters are not constant, and if done right, can be replacable. ME2 added a ton of new characters and minimized the importance of certain ME1 ones. It also "upgaded" some other old characters. A pillar imho, best describes something rigid and irreplaceable, which doesn't fit the role of characters throughout the trilogy.

I agree with you with regards to the whole trilogy. I just can't imagine ME2 being any good without the new characters it added. They are what makes the game worth playing. If it only had the Collector plot, it would have been a silly, and ultimately pointless game. I agree that the ME1 characters could have been handled better though. As good as it was, a lot could have been better in the second game.

Actually my main gripes with ME2 is the inability to choose weapons or mod them you like for both you and companions and the scanning thing. I was fine with the whole collector plot, assembling the team, doing all kinds of side-quests.

Reboot.

Without Shepard? No chance.

As well way too soon to start a reboot.

I've never liked the idea of reboots. They only work when the original material is either really old, or has been taken about as far as it can go. Mass Effect has the potential to expand enough to spawn many more games. The universe is its' oyster.

I just found an article about a space sim coming to Xbox1, so I clicked on it thinking it was ME Next. WRONG! It was Elite Dangerous. So I did a little digging and found out this game is what I always imagined a ME space fight to be like, if they put it in. Anyone interested check it out! I thought Elite Dangerous was just describing the action before someone points out the title being in the headline of the article.

At this point I'm convinced we'll play as Shepard in ME4 and it will be a retcon or AU version of ME3. Why? Namely cause I'm going crazy because of a lack of ME news.

Especially since Mass Effect 1 is still not even a decade old game.

I mean gee, at least wait for November 2017 before asking for and expecting a reboot to be in development.

Oh, man, I hate reboots. At best it's taking a premise that can definitely work and rehashing it. At worst, it makes continuity irrelevant.

I really, really hope we never see a Mass Effect reboot.

A redesign is different. Want to take ME1, radically rework all of the gameplay mechanics and re-release it as a relatively low price? Sure. Want to take ME3, add new side content, change a couple of missions, alter the pacing a little bit? Go for it.

No reboots, please.

Reboot.

I think it confirms a keep style arrangement rather than a reboot.

You didn't really think we'd kill off commander Shepard did you?

We won't be Commander Shepard or Shepard 2.0.

We'll be The Shepard.
