Haha yess, the animation is obviously primitive, but I can already see vast improvements in the driving i.e. landing from somewhere remotely elevated doesnt result in you doing double somersaults
Dunno how I feel about it potentially take place "within Shepard's lifetime".. does that mean like within the trilogy's timeline? I really wouldn't like that cause that basically means the Reapers still exist, but I can imagine why it'd be a possibility cause then they don't have to canonize an ending
I'm glad to hear that the game is mostly likely years away from launch. Shows they're not fooling around, and theres soo much more in store than we can possibly imagine at this point.

Within Shepard's lifetime means within Shepard's lifetime, not trilogy.

Within Shepard's lifetime can mean just about anything. It could be set before the events of the Trilogy, During or after considering if they make the Destroy ending canon and he truly is alive. Shepard during Mass Effect 3 is/was only 32 years old.

Shepard's lifetime, excluding the Reapers, is hardly noteworthy.

Very little: unrelated to Shepard, "N7" a thing, male and female "hero" confirmed, focus on customization, and a cannon-less Mako used for exploration.
Yes I noticed that. Must mean all combat will be on foot?
Unless it has a telescopic canon of course.

Posté 27 juillet 2014 - 09:06
I don't mind if the combat is on foot at all. I liked the combat in the last game. Last two games, I guess. And I liked biotics in ME1 so I'm okay with it. We get to go planet exploring in the Mako again. Sweet. Back into shut-up-and-take-my-money territory... unless it's a MMO then ****.

Within Shepard's lifetime means within Shepard's lifetime, not trilogy.
Well, they could set the game a hundred of years after the Reaper War, since humans lifespan is about 150 in the ME universe that would still count as within Shep's lifetime.

adding to my own future disappointment:
I want a character creator like this
I know, posted it before. Will not stop until everyone is as excited as me
Holy crap, man. Impressive, but I spend enough time in the character creator as it is.

This isn't even the most impressive video. I picked this one because it's relatively short.
There's 12-20 minute long videos of the creator on youtube. You can adjust everything and most of it appears to be click and drag.
Nose, cheekbones, eyebrows, your haircut, the shape of your eyes. Everything. You're basically getting a piece of clay you can mold into any shape you want. This includes the shape of your body.
THE SHAPE OF YOUR PUPILS. NO I AM NOT JOKING, YES I AM SCREAMING BECAUSE I AM EXCITED.

At this stage of development, this is what you get. This is an early build of the game.
An unbaked cake never looks as good as the final product.

Currently as it is.
What I like
-Mako is back
-Exploration will be an important feature (FINALLY)
What is meh
-N7 again....really Alliance again? Why not someone free from the military? Bounty hunter or mercenary? Gesus give us an opportunity to see life in ME universe outside the Alliance.
-No different playable races (for what we know currently)
What I don't like
-Game is set during Shepard story (I hope you have a plan here BW because I CATEGORICALLY refuse to shoot Cerberus thugs again for an entire game and quite frankly Reapers are overdone by now).
Conclusion
Skeptical but open to be amazed

Bioware is being cautious, only releasing information when they have something solid to show. Would you rather they say "this and that is in the game" when the truth is they are just experimenting? If its something fans like but it has to be taken out because it doesn't work fans will just get dissapointed (although people are going to be negative either way, no matter what information is released).
ME3 was too rushed of a game. The gameplay was excellent, but it was really really linear in both exploration and dialogue. The fact that the next ME game will focus on the one thing ME1 hardcore fans missed about the rest of the series can only mean good things going forward.

I think its time for me to stop worrying about the next mass effect.
Its obvious the writers and Casey have not learned from their mistakes - heck, they won't even acknowledge that they made mistakes. The ending to ME3 was a rancid dogfart that needs to be avoided at all costs less you lose even more fans. I tried to hold on, but its obviously time to let go.
There is no way I am playing as a regular human within the same time-frame as when Shepard was alive. Casey and Mac have lost the spark that made this series great. I think they never really had it, honestly. The spark was very talented people from ME1 and 2 that left as Casey and Mac established more and more dominance.
Its obvious to me that these writers suck and have no talent if they think I will sit through this "Mass Effect: Mulligan" weaksauce attempt. Bioware has learned nothing.

Phaedon, here, founder of the original Known Features thread.
Since my obligations have skyrocketed in quantity over the past few years, my contributions to this project are going to be limited at best. However, I'd like to take a second to congratulate CroGamer. He is a very resourceful guy, and I am confident in saying that he is going to maintain the thread to the best of his ability. Ofcourse, he is going to need some help from the community.
As the months pass, a few idividuals won't be able to keep up with every single new feature. This where you come in. You can help Cro by posting new features (along with reliable sources). The members who are the most helpful and tend to seize the initiative might eventually be added to the team that manages the Google docs and the rest of the accounts, too.
Another way you can help is by regulating the way you post here. The original thread was closed and had to be re-opened at least twice, maybe three times over its lifetime. Discussing known features and things you'd like to see in the future is ofcourse encouraged, that said, don't turn the thread into a cesspit just because it's relatively active and more people are bound to see your post... This is noone's personal blog, and hyperbolic posts like: "Omg i
garrus, he is mah senpai/waifu" / "Omg wac malters sux like s0 much like i can't even" are a good way to attract negative attention on this thread. Eventually, it will be locked.
This thread isn't meant to showcase anyone's personal opinions, unless it's meant in a manner to facilitate meaningful discussion. Again, this isn't anyone's personal blog.
So, in conclusion. Respect the contributors, and try to post in a polite and moderate manner... These guys are going to invest a lot of their personal time keeping up this project, no need to be disrespectful.

After the rumor that it might be set during Shepard's lifetime, color me very ****** skeptical and prepared for a massive disappointment. Hopefully that rumor is just wack and we'll all be pleasantly surprised. Lol...

Hello, everyone. As the veterans amongst you might remember, we had a "Known Features Thread" in anticipation for ME3.
Oh, how the times passes.
Yes, I am back as well to help alongside CroGamer, Phaedon and Vertigo to bring this thread to its proper function--to keep you updated on everything ME4 related (well most of it at lest). While we do keep track on the game on a regular basis we can't do everything, so it is up to everyone here who is following this thread to contribute. It helps with our work immensely and is always appreciated.
So stay civil, follow the rules and all that jazz, and let's start another journey! Since God knows, it is what matters, not the destination ![]()
