No playable races? argh.
Who said that? ME 1-3 had different playable races.
I want to play other species.

Oh, how the times passes.
Yes, I am back as well to help alongside CroGamer, Phaedon and Vertigo to bring this thread to its proper function--to keep you updated on everything ME4 related (well most of it at lest). While we do keep track on the game on a regular basis we can't do everything, so it is up to everyone here who is following this thread to contribute. It helps with our work immensely and is always appreciated.
So stay civil, follow the rules and all that jazz, and let's start another journey! Since God knows, it is what matters, not the destination
You just rephrased my post!
This is the reason we have you cleaning latrines, Kevin, this is the reason.

Anyway,
remember to check out the Gallery, Cro and I refined the descriptions. We noted a few interesting details. I think that saying that the game takes place some years after ME3 is pretty reasonable. It feels like like a comparison between Star Trek: TNG and Deep Space 9. They take place in pretty much the same timeline, but are built on completely different foundations.
Except that the new game is TNG, and the old trilogy is DS9, if the focus on exploration is accurate.
Vertigo/Teddy has been keeping up the Twitter account over the years, it's an excellent companion to this thread.

MP had different species. Turians, Krogans etc. are not related to humans.
Maybe there is a translation problem.
I can already sense Liara in this game for some reason...

Of course I did, no one reads what you post.
We have toilets? Oh sheesh y'all!
I think its time for me to stop worrying about the next mass effect.
Its obvious the writers and Casey have not learned from their mistakes - heck, they won't even acknowledge that they made mistakes. The ending to ME3 was a rancid dogfart that needs to be avoided at all costs less you lose even more fans. I tried to hold on, but its obviously time to let go.
There is no way I am playing as a regular human within the same time-frame as when Shepard was alive. Casey and Mac have lost the spark that made this series great. I think they never really had it, honestly. The spark was very talented people from ME1 and 2 that left as Casey and Mac established more and more dominance.
Its obvious to me that these writers suck and have no talent if they think I will sit through this "Mass Effect: Mulligan" weaksauce attempt. Bioware has learned nothing.
The 'same time frame as Shepard's story' wasn't said by anyone from Bioware. It's the brain fart of a journalist who 'got that feeling'.
Wait, we have Phaedon, Mesina2 (CroGamer002), Chewin and Vertigo back to do a Known Features thread just like back in the old days with ME3? HUZZAH! I thought this would never happen again! Welcome back, bros!
Look guys, we have a fan!

Funny enough, I recently watched very first ME3 teaser trailer.
I was shocked when I noticed date of upload.
It's been rather long time since then.
Yes, time for a clean slate here. It's tempting to want more of the characters I love but it's time to move on. There's no good reason that they would be involved in the events of a new story and sticking with them either becomes contrived or constraining or both. The only characters you could really justify returning at all are the Council, if the timescale is suitable, but does anyone care about them?I never want to see the old trilogy characters again. They had their story. I was really hoping for a completely fresh start/clean slate.

Its funny because Mass Effect 3 was delayed to 2012.

nobody cares about them, plus. they would have died when the reapers attacked the citadel.
Phandeon, Mesina and Chewin, now those are some old names
Well, Phaedon goes back to at least 5th century BC. It's a pretty cool Platonean dialogue. ![]()

Aria, Liara, Wrex and Hackett for example are also established as some of the most powerful and important people in the galaxy. It wouldn't surprise me if our character runs into them in the next Mass Effect game.
Within Shepard's lifetime means within Shepard's lifetime, not trilogy.
within Shepard's lifetime that is actually spent alive? Since Shepard essentially dies in Control/Synthesis?
It's very hard to form consensus. I know when the next ME game was announced to have no relation to Shepard and Co. a while back people complained that it wouldn't be Mass Effect if it didn't have the characters we loved from ME, because they made it what is was. Now we might get to see some returning characters and I see people worried about that too. This is why Bioware shouldn't listen to the fanbase word for word, even though they think Bioware doesn't listen. Trying to dictate the vision for the next Mass Effect isn't good fan feedback. Bioware should try to fulfill their own vision of the next ME game, it will make them more passionate about it.
The reason the ME3 endings sucked to a lot of people was because it wasn't the vision of Bioware, it was the vision of one writer who didn't really have a clue what he was doing. I can only hope they involve all the writers as much as possible this time around. I know Weekes is a very popular dude.
Good feedback is telling them to bring back exploration. Telling them to allow us to mold our MC to our vision like ME1 and ME2 allowed, whereas ME3 went on its own path with its heavy autodialogue. Telling them that having a big diverse cast like the ME2 cast, but combine it with the dynamic Normandy that ME3 had. It would have been cool if after the suicide mission Jacob and Thane were seen together talking about father/ son relationships for example. Bringing back the Mako is a great step forward, and its one fans have requested back. They also listened to feedback on how bad the Mako controlled in ME1. They do listen, a lot more than people give them credit.

It was just commentary on what I consider the nature of the 'trilogy'. Move along! ![]()

While I do agree a clean slate is a favorable direction, having certain characters appearing as part of the story for certain reasons--be it their expertise on a certain subject or their role in a certain area (e.g.be it political or military)--will be a favorable approach, instead of just having random ME trilogy characters appearing for no reason other than to give a nod to fans.
Hackett would be the Alliance's de facto leader by the end of ME3.
But if they keep him around for more than a couple of decades, he is bound to devolve to an "Old Fuss and Feathers" kind of general. Not that I would put it past the Alliance, but I am sure that Hackett would have the good sense to retire by that point.
So, for the Alliance's sake, I hope that he has stepped down by the time the next game takes place.
Wrex, sure, as long as his policies don't lead to stagnation, he'd be a good leader for the krogan reconstruction.
I have a feeling that Liara isn't going to want to keep on the Shadow Broker role. In Lair of the Shadow Broker she said that she would keep it up in order to help Shepard.
I really appreciate all the work that's being done in this thread, thanks to everyone involved ![]()
To me it looks like the next game will set after the war because the new mako look more sophisticated than the old. It will be good to see how the galaxy recovers from the war. I like to see a game set during one of the first contact war but not as an RPG
If it is set after ME3 I hope they do a story line that make sense of the endings as we now how rushed they where.
It said that your Shepard wont be in the new game, I hope the next game says what happens to him/her if chose the destroy ending and got a good war rating that he/she lives at the end (I want to have my shep to have little blue kids)
