Here's an interesting point that @MrBlueMD made on Twitter:

The FTL jump in the trailer may have been a wormhole, which explains how the characters ended up in Andromeda in the first place.

--

Could also explain how they travel in Andromeda without mass relays.

I approve of the Mako.

I dissaprove of another stereotypical desert planet.

Come on, the galaxy is more diverse than that ¬¬

I'm sure there will be other types of planets to explore, but I actually loved that planet for how well it fit the song.

Ohh, a western song fitting a desert/western-like world! Let's give Bioware a medal for having the talent of making it so appropiate!

You do know that was done to miss lead people at the start.

If the leak's accurate, the entire game's set in one cluster. No need for relays if that's the case, just an FTL drive. How they travel 2.5 million light years is still the big question.

*snip*

Different people like different things, no need to be snotty about it. I thought the atmosphere of trailer was appropriate for an exploration/ colonization themed game. In game I would much rather explore a jungle planet, but having a desert planet in the same game won't hurt my enjoyment at all.

At least it'll run at awesome FPS :P

TPS, you mean.

Anyway, not much to go on from the trailer, but at least we got one. Holiday next year is not that far off, well unless it gets postponed, but one step at a time. And yes, we will keep you updated along the way. Contribution from you guys will be appreciated, of course.  :wizard:

They mean FPS as in Frames Per Second, not First Person Shooter.

I just saw that ME:A has its own forum section now. Should we move this party there, maybe?

Seemed pretty obvious to me that the song was a hint about the story, not that the game was going to be a western.

Well, Milky Way was always my least favourite chocolate bar anyway. I'm late to the party but thanks for the thread OP. Very helpful.

The problem as I see it is how can we have a choice on what planets to colonize if there is a continuation with a second and third game.

It will only be possible to colonize what is already set in the game without choices.

It looks like standard FTL jump, short one. Don't see anything 'wormhole' about it

The spacetime stretching looks wormholy to me. Besides, the FTL jump has thus far been portrayed in a very specific manner across the trilogy:

Maybe you are still accessing the thread from the Scuttlebutt, but it has been moved to the ME:A General Discussion section.

That's how it looks from outside tho, I don't remember if we had FTL start/exit shown from inside?

No idea. That's the question.

But even if FTL is supposed to look wormholy, shouldn't it also look more...blue-y? Just because the colors are more visible from the outside doesn't mean that you shouldn't be able to identify them from within the mass effect field.

We got this for ME3, and there's a similar one when you go through the Omega 4 relay in ME2

Spoiler

And for ME:A

Spoiler

I still want to know how far in the future this is. If it's really over 100 billion years, I have no idea what they're gonna pull out of their butt to justify that.

Well, they still use guns from the original trilogy. So it can't be that far into the future.
