Instead of just creating a generic face.  I never change the default image of my protagonists because everything I create is ugly.  I'd like them to modelize the face of the protagonist after a real-world model so that I don't have to worry about the face and get straight to playing.

Also, please use the face of the protagonist on box-art instead of leaving it gender and face-neutral like for Dragon Age Inquisition! :D Create two versions if necessary (one male, one female).

Well, they did that for the default MaleShep, so hopefully they'll do it again with the next Mass Effect.

Or they can just make the character creation not suck... speaking of which, I've made some good looking Shepards before (both sexes), so it really is just something to get used to.

How about making a more in depth character creation like how DAI is doing? I hated not being able to have Shepard's haircut, it was complete BS! ME's CC has been pretty lackluster and hopefully ME4's is 10x better.

The hair selection in general, for both genders, was retina-scorchingly awful. I just went with the least helmet-like option.

Other features were lacking as well. For instance, I picked the eyes that I did for my Shep not because I particularly liked them but because they had the least disturbing medusa-like eyelashes. I'm easy when it comes to CC but I would definitely welcome a better selection of features.

Please have more generally attractive facial presets... we have to spend hours on this game, so it's nice to play someone easy on the eyes (without having to mod him/her to the nines cough ME3)

Pleeease include non-Caucasian facial features, too...

If the Next Mass Effect uses at least DAI level stuff we should be good. Praise frostbite 3 and customization options!

Question: Would you be disappointed if the M/F protagonist was always advertised as helmeted (no facial features), until customized in game?

Yeah, I would.  They need to choose a default face (and like said, hopefully modelized after a real model) and show the face on the cover.

There are a lot of people that do not want a 'Default' look for their Protagonist. It helps them slip into the character more if they don't see a 'face' staring back at them. In fact that's WHY DA:I went the way they did.

So tell me why Bioware should ignore those fans and listen to you?

I can turn the question back at you.  I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way, so why should Bioware only listen to those who don't want a face rather than those who do?

I already told you why, it allows people to slip into the character, to make that person their own, which is something not so easily done when you have a character with a  default face. Bioware has also gotten a lot of request by fans to have fewer restrictions on their decisions, and having a default face, and/or canon storyline would interfere with those fans enjoyment of the game.

Your turn.

Oh wow, "interfere with their enjoyment."  My, I didn't realize having a default Shepard face in the original trilogy interfered so much with peoples' enjoyment of the trilogy.  I certainly don't remember anyone complaining that their enjoyment of the ME3 trilogy was lessened because they happened to see a default Shepard face on the box art and in trailers before creating their own.

I guess we should feel sorry for these people whose experiences were lessened because they were not able to imagine another face once they had seen a default one and I guess we should go face neutral for the next Mass Effect out of compassion.  Another question though, if any of these people see someone else's face (for example, for the Inquisitor in DAI) before playing the game, would that also lessen their enjoyment or are they able to understand that it's not their Inquisitor/Shepard/ME4 Protagonist?  Must we ban faces in Youtube playthroughs, demos, and such sorts?  I mean, we have seen the inquisitor's face, a male one and a Qunari female one.

Have people's DAI experience already been interfered with because Bioware dared to show off a face?

Back on topic, I also wouldn't mind them modelizing our companions after real people, just like they did for the original trilogy with some companions.  They didn't do that will all though, and so sometimes you had really generic looking faces (Kelly, for example).

IMO they should do that for companions but not for the main hero.....it's our hero after all

So you're not going to provide a reason why Bioware should listen to you over other fans. The same fans who complained enough about Male Shepard dominating the Box art of ME 1 & 2, to get Bioware to release a box with Female Shepard on the cover. The same fans who didn't want Shepard to have a Default face (Going by the discussions in the Run up to ME 1.

Noted.

If memory serves me correctly, the vast majority of human squad mates ( and Liara ) had their faces modelled after real life people, the results were mixed to say the least.

Most people think Sheploo is ugly, I think he he looked good ( especially in ME2 and ME3. ), he was modelled after a Dutch model named Mark Vanderloo.

Luciano Costa is the face model for Kaidan. I did not think he looked right until ME3.

Kenyon Glover was the face model for Jacob. I was not happy with results. The face was too big for the body.

Jillian Murray was the face model for Liara. If I had not read that on the internet I would have never believed it.

Yvonne Strahovski was the face model for Miranda. They did not get this right at all. They failed to do justice to one of the most attractive women in the world. Her head was also too big for her body.

Rana Mcanear was the face model for Samara. Looking at pics of I can easily see the resemblance, it does not hurt that she cosplays as Samara on a regular basis.

Anyhow the point I'm trying to make is tat even if they go with a face model there is no guarantee that they will get the look right. Some of ME2 and ME3's best looking and most detailed looking squad mates are the most alien, look at the detail on Wrex, Garrus, Grunt and Javik, a lot can be said from building a face model from scratch. On the flip side to this we have femshep who to the best of my knowledge has never had a face model and as such I've never been able to create a female Shepard that I've been happy with, and don't get me started on the default femshep for ME3, what a train wreck, maybe they should have got a face model for her.

I've never used a Default Shep and never will. I'm with the above; make the character creator not suck.

Yeah, there needs to be more options for both genders wit hair, eyes, lips, nose, etc. I was disappointed in ME1 and ME2's especially. ME3 had the best but it still was sub par.

AMEN! I support this 10000000000000000 times over! Mass Effect was truly awful with ethnic features. Why can't I get an afro? bigger lips? I had this problem since ME1.

The best I could do to create an Asian was black hair and dark eyes lol  <_< Don't understand what made Bioware think the human savior of the galaxy can only be someone with a white face.

Yeah, same for me. I couldn't make a true black Shepard till ME3 when they had better hair, skin and lip options. But it still was lackluster. I'm putting a lot of stock in the new engine's Character Creator capabilities.
