I had the displeasure of watching that today. I find it funny that he chastises the reverence shown toBatman, yet he obviously wants the same thing for Superman. He comes off as nothing more than a Superman fanboy who's upset his man crush could be portrayed as anything but a completely infallible guardian of humanity.

I want my Superman to be fallible. I want him to be challenged. I want him to struggle at times, to fail. But I also want him to succeed and to be liked. He's the superhero. And just a decent guy who wants to do good. Give him a chance.

I call Man of Steel my favourite Superman movie, but that says as much about my mixed feelings towards the previous movies as it says about my appreciation for the movie itself. I had a ton of problems with it, but I had high hopes for a sequel. When they announced that they put Batman in the next movie I was a little wary, but then again those two guys are about my favourite superheroes ever and seeing them together on the big screen should be great. Now after all we've learned and seen I'm just not excited about the movie, which is really sad.

The Clark from Man of Steel had a really shitty start into becoming Superman, but after the ending with him arriving at the Planet I was hoping things would get a little easier for him in the future. Now it looks like some part of the population hates him because they think he's some kind of false god, and another part worships him because they think he's an actual god. I genuinely worry about poor Clark's mental state ever since his adoptive father's death, and all this can't be helpful.

To top all this we get Batman in the mix. When I dreamed about seeing those two together I did not imagine or want what we seem to get now. At all. I'm not much of a fan of "hero vs hero" scenarios in general (though they definitely can have their place), and that goes even more for these two characters. This is the first ever big screen meeting of the two most iconic superheroes, and this is also the very start of the first ever big screen DC universe. And they give us an unestablished, troubled rookie Superman and throw a full-blown vengeful Frank Miller The Dark Knight Returns Batman at him. What?

Now I do like The Dark Knight Returns. I actually like it a lot. But as any kind of inspiration for a Superman/Batman first contact story it strikes me as about the worst possible choice. Ever since Harry Lennix read those lines at the first presentation I feared it would go this way, and so far it does very much look like it. I don't want a fight between the two to be anything but a very small aspect of their first meeting. Definitely not the main focus. Totally killed my hype before it could even begin to develop.

Still there is no doubt that I will watch the movie. It will be a visually spectacular movie, and I'll be able to enjoy it for that at least. Maybe I'll like what they do with the story and the characters as well, I do hope so of course. The involvement of Chris Terrio in the screenplay was one of the few news about the movie I was very positive about, so there's hope there. We'll see.

I dunno about her acting skills, but she did the same compulsory military service as all Israelis which means she's probably better suited to action roles than most actresses.

We have the same thing up here in Norway. Mandatory army service. She did basic training. That's it. It takes 2 months. After that she "worked" as a gym teacher for the remainder of the period. She is no more suited than anyone else because of that bit. Besides, Wonder Woman won't be using assault rifles and the like.

Ya I stopped watching that the moment he started going off about the depiction of Superman in the trailer as being seen in a negative light.  If Superman is completely infallible that would make for a boring movie.  It should be interesting as the trailer is more about the reaction people have to Superman rather than Superman himself.

What Batman can do to SUPS ? I mean without Kryptonite. Bat is just a man. SUPS could kill him in one blow and SUPS would have to hold out if not bat would be disintegrated at an atom level.

But ain't the thing with sups anyway ? He never go all out ?

I think the idea behind that is Superman's never HAD to go all out, because no one has been able to push him to his limits. What limits those are, I don't know, with all the variations of Superman in the world of Comics, its hard to tell whats what.

Also its Batman, man. Prep time.

Lots and lots of Prep time.

Here is a part of the fight that is influencing BVS.  Not the whole thing but it does show the prep time that Batman used in the fight.

He only won that fight due to Kryptonite on his gauntlets that he got in a stupid crossover with Spawn.

And Green Arrow shooting more Kryptonite at Supes.

Zack Snyder actually said Kryptonite won't be a factor in the movie.

And thank god. After a continent of it in Superman Returns, it's worn out its welcome.

Superman vs Batman is just about the least interesting phyisical confrontation I can imagine. If the author wants Batman to win he will find a way, although it usually needs to involve Kryptonite. But it's a stretch in any way, unless he wants to actually kill him - which no mainstream Batman ever would or should. Superman on the other hand could just squash Batman like a bug. But he wouldn't do that, because he's ****** Superman.

So a fight should end with either one killing the other (which won't happen), Superman incapacitating Batman (which likey won't happen because he's the goddamn Batman) or some kind of stalemate that ends with them working together against a common threat (which likely will happen). So if we have a fight that neither of them is supposed to win from the start - why make it a big thing? They should have enough differences in their respective methodologies and world-views to provide more than enough potential for (non-physical) conflict.

The last one is understandable atleast

This one honestly should introduce Kryptonite

Well they have found ways for Batman to get the upper hand without Kryptonite.

I remember an issue that did a re-telling of there first encounter were Superman was trying to arrest Batman for being a vigilante and Batman stopped him by claiming he had a magnetic field going through his suit and if Superman tried to grab him it would set off a bomb killing an innocent person forcing Superman to help him find a villain.  (It turned out he had the bomb on himself the whole time stating he wouldn't put an innocent in harms way but he didn't know if Superman's powers could detect if he was lying.)

I say introduce it in Justice League.

I'm sick of Kryptonite after the continent thing.

Been over 6 years and I can't let go of how stupid that is.

Which raises the question how they are gonna make this work. Superman is so ridiculously OP that he should beat batman in one minute if not less, especially since this Batman has no idea who he's up against.

So they are either gonna have to make Superman weaker than he actually is or Batman has to become stronger for the plot to work.

As usual.

Batman retrofits a room to replicate the atmosphere in Zods Ship.

That's how I'd do it at least.

Good luck getting Superman inside that room. Remember how he has his super awesome brain? I bet he could detect sarcasm and lying.

Superman is book smart.

Especially since he's in his early days.

So no. I doubt that.

Being knowledgeable about lying and being able to tell when someone's doing it are 2 seperate things.

I don't know why people are bothering to decide who's going to win. It'll end in a tie or be disrupted, DC would never let their 2 biggest characters (and Cashcows) lose. It's bad for publicity.

Batman got the mech suit so he'll probably electrocute him like in TDKR or throw something in his eye and then give a few swings in his face. Beside, it's in Gotham so Batman probably has the whole town wired and full of traps for the battle.

At the end of the day, Superman would win in a straight up fight but Batman will probably get a few good hits.
