I think NGE had the same problem as Lost.

New look at the Batman suit:

Spoiler

I still don't know how I feel about that suit.

The ears, the material, and the eye sockets bother me the most.

The new bat suit is starting to grow on me. The real question now is, can he turn his head?

It's like we're getting closer and closer to seeing full penetration but DC just teasing us

What if they were to bring in a very hot, but skeptical female partner into the mix? So whenever Batman and Superman aren't out busting heads, they're back at the bat-cave or fortress performing outrageous sexual experiments on her supple young body. Now here’s the twist, and there is a twist:

They show it. They show all of it. Because what’s the one major thing missing from all action movies these days guys?... Full penetration. Guys, they’re gonna show full penetration and they're gonna show a lot of it! I mean, we’re talking, you know, graphic scenes of Batman or Superman really going to town on this hot young female partner. From behind, 69, anal, vaginal, cowgirl, reverse cowgirl, all the hits, all the big ones, all the good ones. Then they're out fighting crime again. They're out busting heads. Then back to the bat-cave or fortress for some more full penetration. Fighting crime, back to the cave/fortress, full penetration. Crime, penetration, crime, full penetration, crime, penetration. And this goes on and on, and back and forth, for 90 or so minutes until the movie just, sort of, ends.

I hate NGE, but even I don't think it's pointless, given that the whole point is to show the characters and just how frakked up they are.

No. The whole point is Anno doesn't understand how people suffering severe mental problems act.
He probably looked at half a case study and was like "Yeah. There we go. Done."
This is the last time I'm going to dignify responding to you. We've sidetracked this thread more than enough don't you think?

I think head turning hype is confirmed.

What I don't get is how Batman can even fight Superman in this new movie setting.

In nearly every other encounter, Batman gets the upper hand with Kryptonite hi-jinx. But in this world? It is Kryptonian atmosphere that is the only thing that can weaken him.

What's Batman going to do? Compress some gas and say to Superman "hey, take a hit of this before we start fighting..."

I'm still irritated at the first Superman movie, where Lois Lane killed more Kryptonians than Superman did. I mean... think about that for a second.

Ignoring the last moment where Green Arrow and kryptonite jump out, it'll probably be similar. Superman will probably be weakened and holding back while Batman will go all smarts.

But that's the problem - it's just going to be a punch fest without kryptonite. Look at Man of Steel... half of the movie was three kryptonians and Superman punching each other through walls, buildings and mountains, doing absolutely zero damage to each other. If Batman has super suit and gadgets, he still can only stun or slightly hurt Superman... he can't beat him. Not without the kryptonite trump card.

Batman might be able to go toe-to-toe for a few rounds, like in the above video, but eventually his suit will be busted, his gadgets will run out of juice or he'll run out tricks, while Superman will not even have a bruise on him. Batman always made precautions to have the one trick up his sleeve, kryptonite, to take down Kal-El when he needed to. Without that trick? This can't be an even fight.

And before the "we don't know how strong Superman is, his power varies so much over the decades" type arguments start, we DO know his power. It is pretty clearly laid out in Man of Steel. He is strong enough, fast enough and powerful enough to reduce a city to rubble by accident and destroy continent-sized machines without much threat (outside the kryptonite atmosphere they exuded). He's not quite at "turn back time by flying really fast" level of over-powered, but all the standard tropes of his power apply - there's no way a human could be able to compete with his power as portrayed in the first movie. Not with all the technobabble super suits in the world.

Batman is not gonna beat Superman in the end, both characters are too popular to lose, and who knows what Batmans armor is made from. This isn't the first time a metal tin suit has hurt Superman anyway.

Also the leaks from the Imax trailer show Superman running, not flying at Batman, so it just suggests to me that Superman has been weakened or Bats has somehow made flight impossible. They seem to be underground anyway.

I just want to watch my favorite heroes punch it out for like 10 minutes because it'll be fun (for me, anyway) and then realise there both good guys and then go after the real threat and then slowly become best friends.

Honestly, the whole point of that fight is really just a money making machine for Zack Snyder. Kids are going to want to watch the 2 biggest super hero in the world punch it out (because kids don't give a damn if it makes sense or not) and older fan boys are going to watch it because there favorite superheroes are in it.

Also who knows, maybe they did find Kryptonite finally or Batman has a red sun ray gun or maybe the suit is magic. Who knows? I'll find out in the cinema.

Were they underground? I didn't notice that in the trailer.

If so, problem solved. Batman leads Superman underground, to a place that has a closed air system, pumps in Kryptonian atmosphere (from, I don't know, the wreckage of the terraforming machine or something) and makes Superman weak. Batman blocks him from escaping, epic fight ensues.

For some reason, I thought they were fighting in a street or something.

Because I personally know people that on occasions acted...disturbing to say the least.

Won't go into details, but that Shinji scene?

Totally saw stuff similar to it in RL.

Continent-sized?

Also Supermans power is biological techno-babble.

Given that, a super-suit can be as redicolous as Supermans biology is.

There are no sensible limits in the world of comics.

I'm not saying they don't. But there is some type of sick logic goin on in their heads. Shinji just does it for no reason other than he needs a reason to try and murder Asuka at the end of the film.

Look. Lotion, this conversation stopped being about Superman long ago. If it means so goddamn much to you, take it to a PM or stop.

Batman is such a troll in the comics. Every fight with Batman amounts to one of those playground arguments were the other kind keeps inventing increasingly more incredulous ways of countering whatever the last thing you came up with in your last move.

As to Man of Steel, I don't think the issue was them punching each other so much as it was that the punches didn't do harm. That's where (on the visual side) Zack Snyder went wrong.

Without kryptonite i don't even know how Batman would last past a few seconds against Superman, without Bruce using some convoluted scheme or gadgets to counter him.

I would flip a table if they dumb down Batman's trump card by showing a Bloodsport esque flashback training montage that consists of Bruce learning super martial arts from Karate Kid.

Precisely. The Superman-Doomsday fight was a punch fest in the comics, but it was a BRUTAL one, with the damage and pain visible increasingly from frame to frame.

MoS had them bouncing back between each other like a game of Pong, with no one even getting winded, let alone acting like it hurt. And again... Lois Lane did more damage running around the Kryptonian ship killing people than Superman did. That begs the question - why didn't Superman just fly to their ship and crash it into the moon, killing all the kryptonians?

Similarly, why didn't the super-advanced spaceship have more than three gas masks? This was supposed to be an exploration vessel, designed to go onto the surface of alien planets and search for Kryptonian colonies. How were there not more gas masks? There were dozens of Kryptonians on the ship. If even three more of them got out and wore a mask to prevent being weakened, they would have easily subdued Superman. Instead, they willingly holed themselves up in the one place in the solar system that would make them mortal and all die.

Hyper-advanced, intelligent race my ***.

Well, Zod was kind of Krypton's prime soldier, bred and trained for nothing but fighting, and he got beaten in hand-to-hand combat both by a scientist and a guy who spent most of his life trying his best not to fight. So yeah, "Krypton had its chance" and all that...
