Alright, I have no ideal what's going. I bought this game as a digital download from gamestop.com, and when I try to just turn on the game, it lags like no tomorrow. (I'm talking about the title screen which has the new game, load game option, etc.) Of course, inside the game is even worse. I looked across the board for an answer and so far nothing has worked. Here is my specs.

OS: Win 7 64bit
Ram: 7gb
CPU: AMD 9650 Quad Core 2.3 ghz
Video Card; Geoforce 9100
Direct X: 11

So I know that I have at least the minimum requirements down, and yet the game is still having an unplayable frame rate. Here is the following troubleshooting steps I've done.

Update the latest video driver to the latest Nvidia driver.
Attempted the Core Affinitiy idea. No luck.
Did the phenom band aid removal from FAQ No Luck
Lower settings to lowest settings in game, plust disabling frame buffer.
Went to dragon age ini and placed 1 next to triple buffering.

Right now, I have no ideal what's going on. But I know my computer is powerful enough to handle the game on the lowest settings without frame rate issues. So what's the problem?

This game cannot be run without a decent video CARD.  Trying to do so with a mere integrated video chip is a waste of time, especially the worst video chip of the entire current crop.  If it's in a desktop, go buy a real video card  for it that meets the requirements.  Otherwise, just play it as badly as what is to be expected with such a terrible video device.

It won't be possible to separate out any possible effect caused by another source until the video chip slowness is eliminated.  Incidentally, the word "lag", as used by MMO players, is not always particularly accurate, even for their games.  For single player games, the computer-related definition is essentially meaningless.  It was adopted as a descriptive for transmission delays over long distances.  The appropraite term for a single user game is actually "slowdown" when the symptom appears.

Huh? I don't understand. My current video card does meet the minimum standards required. True, it may not be the best of the lot, and if I decide to go down this road, I'll need probably purchase a new psu as well seeing as my is only like 400 watts, but I even called the customer support at EA and they also said my computer meets the requirements. So I'm a bit confused as to why I'm meeting slowdown when I do meet the requirements?

Go here to the systems requirements lab and run their little tool and it will tell you if you'll be able to run it.  cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/srtest/

You really do not HAVE any video card at all, as defined by the computer definition of the word "card", and whoever lied to you from EA should havce to buy you the real thing to make up for their foolishness.   I thought that was already as clear as possible.

All you needed to know was included as links in the last reply, which you chose to ignore, it seems.

P. S.  Ignore this also, if that's your way of living, perhaps, like an old wives tale ostrich with its head in the ground, but SR Labs is a waste of time for anyone with half a brain, because they are wrong so very often.  Anyone who insists on remaining ignorant about PCs is a poor prospect for gaming on the PC platform, and should stick with console platform games instead (which goes double for the fools at SR Labs, of course).

I know SR labs is a waste of time, but I thought maybe it would tell him that his "video card" was just a chip and wouldn't work. Consoles suck by the way...:)

Although it wasn't obvious then (when this thread was last active), worthwhile forum communication had already gone by the boards, and moderation was already virtually nonexistent. They did the same thing for about the first two weeks when Dragon Age was brand new, and it became a waste of time to read anything and / or try to reply. It looks like they began the same silly thing Sunday.

To the OP. Getting a new card would help you out alot, however the main problem with this game is that it has a memory leak which is the root to many peoples problems. It's a known issue that bioware has yet to fix. My rig is more than enough for this game but after 1-2 hours of playing I get major slowdown. At that point I have to save and then quit and restart the game after a few minutes. I'm not the only one, you'll find many threads on this topic. Willing to bet that is the main issue that is giving you grief.

my specs:

I7 950

9 gigs RAM

ATI 5870

I have the same video 'card' as the OP, and yes, I'm planning on getting a dedicated video card instead of using this integrated card. I don't run on single core, I have all 4 enabled.

I can run the game just fine, so the 9100 isn't total crap, even if it approaches the bottom of the barrel. The lag during transitions gets increasingly long after long play/frequent area changes because of the memory leak, but that's not exclusive to the 9100. Exiting and restarting solves that, until the memory leak gets bad again.

@baby-bro--try turning off any unnecessary background programs you have running (internet, any IM/IRC programs like Messenger or Skype, etc.). You can turn off unnecessary processes through the task manager, just make sure you don't turn off essential ones or your computer will crash. If you don't know what it is, copy it and then paste it into your browser and it'll bring up what it is for you. Also, experiment with your sound options, in case it's your sound card doing it. I've had to turn graphics details to low, textures to medium, and anti-aliasing off. I also disabled persistent gore. I don't know if gore contributes to the lag issue, I just can't stand the fact that people stand around with darkspawn blood splattered all over themselves without at least wiping it off their faces and weapons as they stand around talking.
