Only thing promising is the Mako returning:

I believe we stated it may take place at the same time, but everything is subject to change
My concern with this is;
#1. If the story doesn't go past the ending of the trilogy to show the current universe is still alive and can recover (aka hope) then it leaves the feeling of hopelessness or what's the point if it all gets destroyed anyway?
#2. Playing during Shepards time leaves you in a big shadow as you already played the sun, now your eclipsed.
#3. How do you add alien races that's been rumored that had no part of the trilogy to all of a sudden mattering?
This will all be answered when the game comes out, but #1 is the thing that will determine how excited I am about the game overall. It can be moot to many but I like to know there's a tomorrow to work towards instead of becoming Alderaan,

Can we use the ME4 MC to kill Shepard and give him a honorable death thus erasing the entire ME3 timeline? No? Then it sux. Why would you want to be a hero who is the shadow of another greater hero? Noone wants to play Robin when they can be Batman instead. Unless this character is T.I.M., I see no point in playing off Shepard's timeline (especially seeing as you're going to have the same trilogy ending).
No aliens for MC? Ummm... yeah. Still not ordering.
You have control of the Reapers now. How about committing some war atrocities on other worlds in a new galaxy? C'mon I know you guys can expand off the endings. More focus on cooperative play over the hoard MP is good. Why not do both (of course making MP a secondary development priority *cough*)? ME4 has so much potential BW. Don't limit yourself.
I know what. Let's form a committee to advise Biovar on how to design and build a game. I'm sure that'll work well.
(Two ops packs and a medigel so far.)
The problem is that until the official audio from the panel is released, you'll see rampant speculation and hate over something that's unconfirmed. I hope it's available soon, but given how tight-lipped everything has been so far, I'm not holding my breath.
I highly doubt the internet echo chamber would be silenced. Speculation will continue to run rampant and people will not submit to the more likely scenario presented by Bryan that the game is still in a fluid development stage.

By committee, do you mean like the way EA has "advised" BW??? Because yeah that worked out wonderfully.
Was it a rage gel?
Desperation gel. Everyone was too busy blathering to come and revive me.

There is zero relation between what I wrote and your comment.
Which pretty much perfectly illustrates my point.

I hope it does ![]()
Mass Effect 4 The Mako
It'll be too short of a game imo. Maybe a dlc or an animated movie like the James Vega story prior to him becoming an N7
Didn't the Prothean-Reaper war last for 3 centuries? Yeah, maybe not all of that was action packed, but 3 centuries seems like a lot of time to play with, IMHO. Maybe you could switch perspectives between various Protheans as the battle goes on, and I also think it would be interesting to see how the Protheans dealt with an unstoppable enemy, knowing that they we're going to lose. I like despair and darkness in my games, probably why I'm so obsessed with the Fallout games.
Although, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to an animated movie of this! ![]()
Edit: Dat mako GIF.
So basically it look's like Bioware is afraid to go ahead with what has been a huge debate on the net that the "Destroyer" ending is the true and only correct one for ME3, while "Synthesis" and "Control" are all indoctrinated memories implanted into Shepard by Harbinger and that Shepard has been very slowly indoctrinated IMHO ever since he met the reapers way back in the first ME game, and if you pick those endings Shepard is dead, whereas if you pick "Destroy" he's alive in rubble. And the "Do Nothing" ending is basically saying "Yeah I gathered the entire galaxy to earth and did nothing now, enjoy being turned into reapers!"
I believe eventually Bioware will have to go ahead and make a sequel PAST ME3 and pick what ending was the best one even though they know no matter which ending they pick to base a sequel on, a subest of fans will cry, moan, scream, and cry some more at Bioware that "insert chosen ending here by Bioware to base sequel on" is not the right one etc. I just hope they do this for ME5 (if there is a ME5 even) and don't make us wait another 3-5 years for an ending past ME3. PS I know I would have been happy with an ending like what you got with Saints Row 4 with Shepard and crew all alive and dancing. ![]()
Since this is going to be a spinoff taking place somewhere in the series I am hoping they do a better job with multiplayer this time. As it is now ME3 multiplayer has had way too many glitches and no one focused to fix them all with more updates, so here's hoping they do an even better job this time around with multiplayer, and like Bungie did recently, have ME4 for xbox 360 and Xbox one, basically what Destiny beta was all about running on both XBONE and 360 and PS3/PS4.
Cain - thanks for the post, the pics, and the link to the article.
As others have said, the return of the Mako is interesting.
How about a customizable Mako that the protagonist could upgrade, in a manner similar to the Normandy in ME2 - better shielding, better scanners, fuel capacity, upgraded weapons, etc.? Side quests with various races - help the Turians and get their super cannon, help the Quarians' flotilla for a better scanner, go deep into the Perseus Veil on a dangerous mission to snag a Geth cloaking device.
Bioware could force choices in the build - balancing offensive capabilities against defensive ones, speed vs scanning range.
Or you could amass components to outfit the Mako for specific missions, swapping parts in and out.
This could add a whole new aspect to the game.
it could be like Mario Cart in space
why the **** is this in the MP combat and strategy? Stop polluting the forums
Nice if they keep multiplayer co-op.
There isn't that many co-op mp games and ME3 is one of the best.
I hope they give something extra for us who have spent 1000< hours and maxed the manifest in ME3 ![]()

In recent times this forum has had a wedding announcement, rumors of a next gen remake of the trilogy, a debate on who is better, Ashley or Kaidain and a thread containing a series of pictures of kittens with Lightsabers. For nearly two years page one/two of this forum had featured a thread asking us to name the funniest Gamertag we've seen. Then there was this completely retarded thread about engineering.

I'm worried about ME4 to be honest. It seems like you'll be playing as an N7 operative again, and if that's the case, then the idea of playing as a merc or someone with no affiliation to any council/government along with all the freedom of being independent goes out the window. Also those screen-caps of the protagonist with the caption "your hero" furthers my worrying. Why do we have to play as a hero? We already did that and saved the galaxy. This new protagonist better not be "Shepard 2.0".
Like playing a more personal story? I'd like that - I don't need to save the universe every playthrough. A good story doesn't really need a threat about ending the world.

Did you even read the article that was linked, or bother to see what Brojo posted in this thread clarifying the timescale?
If not here's the summary, multiplayer will focus on co-op more than competitive play. Co-op doesn't mean 'something other than horde mode' in this instance. It is just the opposite of competitive MP. Second, Brojo clarified that the article was mistaken in saying that the Bioware panel said it would be set during the Shepard trilogy's timeline. All they said, apparently, is that they hadn't ruled that out as a possibility. Those are two very different things...
Edit: BTW cain, if you're still around this thread please consider editing the title, in light of what Brojo added.

That'd be great. ME 1-3 has done a good job of establishing the universe and the lore, so now it's time to expand that universe and tell more isolated/smaller-scale stories.
