I don’t want another game with Reapers or Cerberus.

The so-called "your Mako" vehicle does seem different from the ones featured in ME, ME2 e ME3. It may suggest that the next game is not set during the same timeline of the original trilogy...

We get to play as Kai Leng and go on daring adventures eatting other people's ceral! Leading up to the day we eat SHEPARD's ceral.
Fits perfectly. ![]()

video or it didn't happen. I want to hear them say it.
I refuse to believe Bioware would be THIS stupid!
(Places hand on B.R.S.'s shoulder, looks at him/her sympathetically)
When it comes to making bad story decisions, BioWare has plenty of experience under their collective belt. I and many others found this out the hard way.
It's a tank, not a goddamn fashion model.
I'm wondering where the turret is, or the armor.

To be honest I was expecting ME4 to start from scratch. A different cycle, or a different galaxy, or 500 years in the future with a canonised ending... maybe a different cycle... new races, no relays, whatever... but not this.

Shepard was born in 2154, so that game can take place anywhere from that date on. Also it's not just the Mako that looks vastly different, the armor designs we've seen have some noticeable alterations.

I'm wondering where the turret is.
1. They note this Mako is customizable.
2. There's no guarantee we are playing as a member of the Alliance Military. One of their previous comments was that
"[they] don't want to make 'Shepard 2', or Mass Effect 4 with like, 'oh there's no more Shepard but you're a soldier in the universe'. So this will be a very, very different context for sure, and nothing has been decided on the rest,"

Remember when Bioware said they asked fans what they wanted in that E3 video?
It turns out they just ignored them and with it there's goes any hope I had for the next game.

So Bioware confirmed they are not "Going somewhere new, new places new characters?"

Most people wanted a sequel, not some side story that'll seem almost irrelevant compared to stopping the Reapers.

Where are you people getting that?
I haven't seen a single journalist claiming next ME game is a "side story". A few said it's set during Shepard's lifetime, but even then most didn't said anything while some said they had impression it is.

Let's see, the Mako is back, and despite some visual and functional changes, is still very similar to the old mako thus implying that it must have been built around the same time as the original Mako probably by the same people. The new protagonists work for N7, and it is unlikely that N7 would still exist after ME3's ending. I've also read rumors that the game will take place during Shepard's timeline but "in a another galaxy", and that old companions might be making an appearance.
Yes, there is a lot of unconfirmed information at this point, but everything points to it being a spinoff game rather than a sequel. And if we want change to happen, it's NOW while things are still not set in stone that change can happen, not "later" when these rumors will no longer be rumors but confirmed and definitive information.

Calm your ****** people, even if the game is set during Shepard's lifetime we have literally no idea what the story is about. Just because you can't think of an epic story to tell that takes place during the original trilogy it doesn't mean that BioWare can't. There could have been top secret things going on at the time that Shepard didn't know about, like a different spin on the Ark Theory for one, perhaps the Alliance was looking for a way to escape the Reapers rather than fight them. Opening up dormant Relay's etc..There's all sorts of routes they could go down that people likely haven't thought of. I'll reserve judgement until I hear more about the game's story.

"Another region of space" is what they've actually said and considering Primary relays are no longer opened without knowing where they link to, there are a number of possibilities.
Also, Bioware has said they do not want to make 'Shepard 2.0' so I'm not sure if the Protagonist is N7. I've seen the symbol on one piece of concept armor but without context, that may not be the protagonist at all.

Still the whole new region of space in between the timeframe of ME Trilogy is quite bad...are we escaping from the Reapers? Is that even possible? A super secret mission?? Seems very very very difficult to make an interesting storyline during Shepard timeframe without even encountering Cerberus and the Reapers. How they are going to provide us with fresh contents in that timeframe without mentioning super giant robots of doom lurking around the galaxy or the indoctrinated thugs of Cerberus? Maybe the game will have them again as an enemies but then It will be a real disappointment because I was expecting new enemies, fresh content and new development for the galaxy after the Reaper war.
I think BW should at least tell us where the storyline of this game is set in relation to the trilogy (sequel, midquel or prequel). The sooner they clarify this the better,

Really hope it's not true. Like others have said, Shepard is off fighting the biggest threat in the galaxy, so pretty much nothing that the new character could do would be able to top that. Unless they create an even bigger threat (lol) and that would sort of make the Reapers and everything Shep did irrelevant.
So the next ME game will be irrelevant since it won't be as 'grandiose' as Shepard's journey and can't be compared to it by any means? Is it really that important? That the only way for ME to be pertinent is if it manages to create a threat that is equal to what the ME trilogy established?
A story doesn't need to be ostentatious to be considered great by any means. Having a constructive plot, a great story structure, well rounded characters, an interesting setting, style and tone is more than enough to tell a good tale. If executed properly, it can be a lot better than anything what ME trilogy generated without having to be monumental.

Ok but how can you ignore the Reapers and Cerberus if you are setting the story during the same timeframe? You cannot escape that

Well that depends entirely on when it takes place. Making it during the same time frame of ME3 will be complicated, but compared to having the setting take place for example ME1 would be just fine since neither party had that much of a presence yet.
It all depends on where the devs want to tell their tale and how.

Some characters from the ME universe dumped in an entirely different galaxy with entire different races and entirely different technology wouldn't really be a ME game. Although if they do go that way it would be a bit funny when it turns out that despite all histrionics from the Reapers that stuff was no big deal in the bigger picture and there was never a need for the RGB choice.
Some characters from the ME universe dumped in undiscovered parts of the Milky Way which is still going to be screwed over by the RGB choice though would be literally worse than Hitler. At the same time none of the races and history of the old ME universe any more and still screwed over by the ME3 ending, thanks but no thanks.

It will be irrelevant because in a year or so every effect you would have on the world and the lives of it's inhabitants will be made almost comically trivial compared to the Reaper War and the RGB choice.
No one gets to live happily ever after, there's only misery ahead.

That is quite a twisted viewpoint, since one would compare to every story told being irrelevant, since the characters will eventually die in the end--so no happy ending.
It isn't the ultimate goal that matters. If whatever story the next ME will tell manages to portray everything it wants to and bring it to a close in a conclusive way, whatever happens after that are extraneous at best. Though that depends on the story of course.

I'm willing to give the inevitability of death a slide for how important I judge the impact of my protagonist on the world and the lives within it ... the knowledge of an apocalypse within the year, not so much.
Twisted or not, it's my viewpoint ... and I'm not alone.
