How do points for kill work? Do you only get points for the final kill, or do you get points for damage given?

Don't worry about that, every now and then you get a sh*tload of points for just one shot on an enemy, and sometimes you get "Assist +0". As a wiseman once said, "working as intended"

I few times I got the full kill points from enemies that I biotic charged just as my teammates were going to deliver the killing blow... lol. The comments I got after those incidents were hilarious.

Since this thread has put points in mind, I've been paying attention to the relation (such as it is) between the kill feed and the scoreboard. And this led to a curious observation in a game I played about an hour back.
I was a carnage-less Claymore KroSol, with Inferno grenades maxed for damage and carrying grenade capacity V. I threw a lot of grenades at big Reapers - Ravagers and Brutes especially. The result was often "1423 kill" or something generally between 1000 and 2000 points per well thrown grenade. I got a lot of these during the game, and I threw several dozen grenades during the course of the game.
When the scoreboard came up at the end (full extraction), I had 25k score, and the only medal was for 25 assists. so where were the kills counted? It doesn't look like they were. I mean, I'm a crap player but 25k is low even for me, and I really threw a lot of grenades and made a lot of things die.
So I think the scoring is more random than one may have been led to believe.

^That sounds really odd. If you threw that many grenades it stands to reason that you would have way more than 25k points. I wish there was a way to answer this ... my curiosity is piqued.

As I say, coming up on my screen was "xxxx kill" all game long, but only assists on the scoreboard.
I think my main point was that agonising about score is a waste of time when the game itself is so lackadaisical about it.
