Oh! Why must he do this??!!
On a serious note, why betray a good friend?
They might not be a good friend? I'm sure the Inquisitor will clash with someone.

I should certainly hope not!
And he says it with the Griffith pic, too.

What's your point? Based on how the OP phrased it, I'd say they romanced the character just to make the betrayal more bitter. It was never a true friendship.

He/she said the action was spontaneous.
Dragon Age: Origins. I played a Female Warden and romanced Alistair and was super nice to him through the whole game and right at the Landsmeet I betray him for Loghain. I don't know why...but when I did that It felt spectacular and I want to do it again.
Ahhh, the darkside is strong with you. A powerful sith you will become. Henceforth, you shall be known as Darth... Killdrone66.
On a serious note, I do like the concept of betrayal. It adds flavor to my overall role playing experience. Playing a BioWare game the "goody two-shoes" way is boring.

I don't want to be an npc in any of your games.
Has there ever been any BW game where we couldn't betray our companions?
I don't want to be an npc in any of your games.
They don't call me Darth Death for nothing.

It'd be fun!
Every game needs betrayals.
Without some backstabbing options wouldn't be a dragon age game, so hope so!

I don't buy it. Normal people don't spontaneously decide to sell their lovers into slavery. It wasn't an honest relationship to begin with.

Given its a game and you don't need to think about rl, very easy to get lost in dark impulses and curiosity.
Games allow people to set aside society norms and go with the flow has they play, and when curisoity happens you can just go with it
What kind of consequences? Allies who are friends with, Fenris for example, turning on you or openly challenging the decision? I can get behind that...
Yes. But especially for a situation like Fenris', even companions who weren't exactly best buds with him should be confronting you.

You don't know that. Maybe they found something new about themselves.
Maybe, the price was right.
It was a great deal of compensation, was it not?

Just make sure you bring Anders on that mission. Since his friendship goes up if you sell Fenris, he'd have your back if anyone else tried to object... ![]()
It was stated by a dev that we could be such a "jerk" that by the end of the game, we'd be alone except for one char....
It may even be possible to be entirely alone.
Why you would want to, tho....

Why would I back stab my companions? Quite simple really.
And THAT is a good reason? ![]()
*backs away*

...Ok then. The Thadus in your playthrough is screwed.

He or she just said they enjoyed Alistair all the way up until they betrayed him and picked Loghain. That deserves the cold sonofabitch achievement.

Of course the Back stabs aren't my official playthroughs. They are only amusing filler. But at least one playthough..its gonna be a blood bath.
Oh Griffith....GOD NO!!! TIME TO HAUL ASS
You know I was just about to make a comment about his avatar as well. XD Speaking of backstabbings the award for biggest betrayal ever goes to him.

Roleplaying as a good person feels dull in a Bioware game for me. I've tried but I always ended up getting bored. I like playing as ruthless characters more, it's fun.
Hopefully, but I'm not going to betray every companions just for the laugh. I need a good reason and proper consequences, it's good to have a choice but the maniac Inquisitor stab everyone in the back is no different than a player press suicide button on his playthrough.
