Hawke as a battle cry in Mage v. Templar War

My main point and question being, do you think that the mages in the Mage v. Templar war will yell "Hawke" as a battle cry in battle? (If you sided with the mages of course)
I personally think it'd be a nice touch to really make the world feel alive.

I'm fairly certain he didn't mean it literally.

More as an inspirational figure in what they are fighting for and not actually screaming his name.

Only if they want the Inquisitor to chop their head off.

Varric was telling a Seeker a story. For 30 hours. Embellishment may have been involved.

The most I expect from this are a couple of wanted posters here and there for Hawke. A literal battle cry sounds unworkable.

Yes, please.
I'm imagining Templar or Mage enemies literally screaming "HAWKE" during combat.

This could actually be a cool idea. Or having one of the groups give a "remember kirkwall!" speech that involves Hawke's name depending on which ending you picked.
THAT would be a good way to bring in previous games.

I'd be fine with "For Hawke!". If they just yell "Hawke!" I'll be looking up at the sky like, "where?".

Good idea. Both sides should do it, actually. That way, they could show us how both groups intepreted your actions differently from what you envisioned them.
For instance, let's say you sided with the mages because you firmly believe that Templars are also supposed to protect mages and they were innocent of Anders' wrongdoings. But now mages are using your actions as evidence that even the Champion of Kirkwall believed that the Circles were an injustice that had to be dismantled.

If I hear someone calling out Hawke's name as a battle cry I will immediately kill that person I don't care if they're on my side or not it will be quick and decisive lightning bolt to the face.

Mage version.
"For Hawke! For Freeeeeeedooooooooooooooom!! Today we celebrate our Independence Day! For Hawke of Liberty!!!"
Templar version.
"For Hawke! For Order!! Purge the unclean!! Burn the heretic!! The order must be dictated! Praise our truth divine Hawke!!!"
Uh, no thanks. I like to see them remembered Hawke as an inspirational figure rather than screaming his name it just silly.

I could see that happening. Mages or Templars using Hawke as a morale boost. It'll be a nice callback to DA2

I really really hope not, because my Hawke is not interested in being the leader of anyone.
He wants to sit around being rich in a hot-tub with his elven mistress.

Now that raises another question for me. Will non-mages Hawke who side with the Mage increase the number of Mage Sympathizers while a mage-Hawke who side with the Templar decrease the morale of rebel mages.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but at the end of DA2. If Hawke sided with mages, Varric tells of how the Champions name inspires other mages to revolt and becomes the mages rallying and battle cry of sorts.

The mages might mention the Champion of Kirkwall as an inspirational figure, given that Hawke sacrificed everything to protect a population of men, women, and children from Meredith's wraith. It wouldn't surprise me that the Champion would be a prominent figure for the mages, perhaps along with the Hero of Ferelden who publicly asked for the Circle of Ferelden to be given it's independence, instead of asking for a title or riches.
As far as a battle cry, I don't know. It's not something I even contemplated until your post.

wannahawkealoogie?
Bad pun is bad, anyway hopefully not, I wouldn't want to hear them shout an exaggerated "Hawke!" while running into battle, that would be comical but not very inspirational.
