Dissapointed to see another female character with short hair. I'm afraid there won't be a single character with long hair in Inquisition. The hair texture seems bad as well. I hope they use the 6 extra weeks to improve the look of hair in their game.

As much as I'd love better hair textures, I think they should focus on fixing the bugs they have now and tuning the MP.

I miss the huge irises of the DA2 elves.

They may not be huge like DA2, but they do look bigger than average

I'm glad they look like they did in DA:O.  I never liked the DA2 redesign.

Me neither, DA2 elves were scary as f00k, except Merrill.

The only two half-decent looking elves in DA2 were Orsino and Fenris for me. I never romanced Merill (despite 3 playthroughs) partially because of how terribly she looks (and partially because she's bat-**** insane).

With that said, their new appearance looks significantly better. I wonder what male elf will look like, but judging by the female, the improvement over the design in the previous installment is significant.

I'm kinda sad that elves are back to being short, pointy eared humans :/ I liked the slightly alien look they had in DA2. The current design is just completely unimaginative.

And better. When your "imaginative" idea ends up being worse than the tried and true one, imagination can screw off.

I hope they didn't completely revamp the tattoos, the old ones looked really good.

I liked the vallaslin, and I hope the original designs are available in Inquisition; I'd like to go with the design for Elgar'nan with my first elven Inquisitor.

In this case tried&true=what people see in the mirror every day. That's not really a good thing when designing a different species.

Well when your species lore has it set so that they are supposed to be viewed as extremely attractive and beautiful and very appealing to humans, having them look alien and super strange looking contradicts that. However in DAO, elves stuck to that lore well. So again, if their more creative appearance for them stunk far worse than the more typical look then it is time to go back to the typical look.

I find the elves of da2 quite attractive. The thing is, its all about taste. Did you know that there are actually cosmetic operations being done in asia today that remove the eye slant? Just an example how beauty is in the eye of the beholder. To me, the pointy-eared humans are simply unremarkable.

I was quite happy with Elves in both the DAs. That pic of an Elven Inquisitor by the OP is just fine by me. As a player who usually play Elf with my second playthrough...that Lady Inquisitor looks great.

Yet, you are in the minority. Sure it's all about taste, but... Some people like the taste of their own pee. Does that mean that pee tastes good? I'm going to go with "no". You might have liked the DA2 design just like pee fetishists love their own pee, but that doesn't mean that either is or was actually any good to most people opinions.

It means urine can taste good. The flavor depends on a host of factors including body chemistry, sex, age, health, diet, and the amount of water you drink.

Generally speaking, it has almost no taste, though it can range from salty to sweet.

Yup, I hope we get some of DAO facial tatt designs back, those were great. And I'm not hating the look of the DAI elves, the ones in DA2 just looked strange IMO, didn't like it at all. Seems we're getting a blend of DAO and DA2 with this one. Not too bad this middle ground. As long as I can give my she-elf glorious big pointy ears and some fab Dalish tatts I'll be happy.

Not the point. Should I have used the more vulgar comparison to poop? Would certainly be immune to your argument.

If the only way to make your point is by comparing playing a game you dislike to eating feces, then maybe your point wasn't that good to begin with.

I thought the DA2 elves looked like insects lol. I hope we get more options for the face tattoos and updated versions of the DAO ones

I thought Merrill looked good, but some of the others, like many of the random elven NPCs, and especially Zevran, didn't really work out that well.

Merrill did look good, i think she was the best looking elf in DA2 (oh and Fenris too). I really like her valaslin, hope its available in the CC

Her face looked good but her body still looked weird. She was too thin (they all were) and her arms looked wrong. Fenris looked slightly better but he still looked ridiculous with that massive greatsword. The elves (if they are similar to Sera's build) at least seem to have somewhat reasonable body proportions in this game.

Did they ever say which Creator each design was for? I would like to know so that it can be a factor in the one I pick (if we are getting those one's back). I also hope we get more and more versions of the one's that already exist.

Spoiler

I used this one in Origins.

Just dropping in to remind people that Elves are basically smaller humans with long pointy ears.
