In the initial pic in the OP I was like "Huh, not bad. They may have fixed that creepy DAII-Elf body-type, I might make my Inquisitor an Elf."
THEN I saw the follow up image with the oddly small, frail, DAII-Elf body.
And thus my opinion changed to "Goddammit, well......I guess I'm sticking with Human-Inquisitor."
Two steps forward, one step back eh BioWare?
I have a feeling it's due to camera angle, the shape of that specific face, and possibly the hair.
Since Sera exists, I think it is likely that we can make attractive looking elves, but whoever designed this elf is just bad with the CC....
But changing the character model will introduce new bugs. New hairstyles means adding to the CC UI. Increasing the resolution of the textures means more work optimizing the graphics and how the game handles details. Actually adding in hair physics would certainly mean more coding.
I don't think there are minor changes that would result in the level of improvement I'd like to see.
Yep, even a minor line change to the code can introduce hundreds if not thousands of bugs. If they were to change the design at this point they would never be able to iron at those bugs even with the delay.
So from this graph we have a sample size of 392 people, which for a forum is a decent size. Unfortunately, we also have to try to figure out if we can actually generalize the findings of this poll to the general population. The vast majority of the people on this forum are dedicated BioWare fans which may not be sufficient to generalize. To be able to generalize the poll would have to consist of roughly a quarter (if not a bit less) of everyone that played both Dragon Age games instead of just the players that frequent the forums.
Another way at looking at this data would be to qualify why they didn't like the DA2 design. Was it not appealing? Did they dislike the design because it isn't how elves are traditionally viewed? Did they just dislike DA2 and hate everything in the game? These are also questions that need to be asked if the devs decided to "improve" on the elven design.
This poll can not be used to generalize to the rest of the populace. Will you continue to use it? Probably, because you believe it supports your viewpoint even though it doesn't, and because bar graphs are "pretty". ![]()
she looks an amazing =D , I was thinking..playing Elf first but I started thinking trying human first..for some reason..to get a feel of how the Elves and non humans would react to a Female Human Mage/ Rogue.. Was going to originally play as an Elf.. no worries now.. i think I am back to playing Elf as my first run
Here's a screengrab where you can see a little more of her...
I'd imagine that, lore wise, there should be some reaction to a Dalish not having one, but I'm not sure if the game will acknowledge it. Sounds like a great question to ask one of the developers on twitter.
Seeing as how the Dalish are generally recognised by the vallaslin you would expect that some of the elves at least would react differently to a Dalish elf without one. I guess it's kind of like the possible hornless qunari option, there should be some reaction but it's not massively important.
So um....when do we get to see this fine elven lass in a demo?
i hope so there suppose show a combat vid today.
The face tattoo looks like one of the ones from the human noble origin.
Or perhaps I'm thinking of a mod.
The one I remember that was over a single eye was more horizontally oriented
this one seems more vertically oriented
I think it is a different one
i hope so there suppose show a combat vid today.
What's this? A tattoo that I like? ![]()
I'm not sure why but I just never liked any of the tattoos in Origins or 2. So it looks like Inquisition may already be better for me in that regard.
Her eyes are so pretty as well. Eep. I am determined that my first playthrough will be a female qunari and the second a male elf. But reveals like this do not make it easy.
I guess all I can say for sure is that the Share button on my PS4 is going to get a lot of use ![]()
I'd have to say i enjoyed the Elves design in DA2 a bit more. They looked less human and more... Elven i guess?
