I am a huge fan of the Mass Effect series, I can't wait to see what Bioware has in store for us next. However, with all of the possibilities created by next-gen game consoles, I am afraid that Bioware might leave the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 behind. I understand that next gen consoles offer lots of great new things that haven't been possible before, but is it truly worth it when fans can't afford $300-$500 to play the game?
I just hope they release it on the SNES or Megadrive.

The Xbox 360 and PS3 came out in 2005 and 2006 respectively.
By the time the next Mass Effect game comes out that would be around a decade ago. It is time to move on.

Nah.
One/PS4/PC is fine.
Vapaa said it.
This year is really most of the last of 'current/last' gen 360/PS3. Next year it'll be rare that you'll find someone who considers them 'current gen'.
The last gen started 2005-2006. Its had several good years. I'm somewhat impressed that DAI is going to be on them.
Current gen isn't even all that good - Bioware needs all the hardware upgrades they can get, and REALLY don't need to be dragged down by last gen in 2015-2016.

The gaming magazine I've had a subscription to since I was a little boy already speaks of PS4/XB1 as current gen.
Which isn't that odd considering they've been released for some time now.

The next Mass Effect will not be on last generation consoles. The game is years away from completion (they haven't even started voice recordings or produced the soundtrack for the game yet to my understanding) and old hardware will only limit what is possible with the game, which was infamously proven with Watch_Dogs. We are already starting to see a lot of AAA titles in 2015 only being released for new generation consoles and PC, and that trend will only become more prominent as time passes.

That's what a job is for.

Thank you for the information. I was under the impression that the game was further ahead in development.

I very much agree.

As much as I'd love to be able to milk as much playtime as I can out of my PS3 by having new titles come out for it for a few years more, I'd much rather see games properly advanced, and that can't really happen if I was able to do the former.

Agreed.
The Xbox 360 and PS3 are now old. It's time to move on and not have the next game limited by outdated hardware.

I love the dickish replies in this thread...
Its because of the very insistent thread title, making the content of the original post just look disingenuous.

By the time ME4 comes out the PS4 and Xbone will have dropped in price. Heck it may even come bundled. Just start saving now would be my advice. The PS3 and 360 are at the end of their twilight era and it's been a good ride but it's time to move on. The world keeps on spinning.

They should sell it exclusive to the Wii so that they can really take advantage of the consoles full motion control and Nintendo exclusive disk drive. Also, if in ME4 there's another annoying journalist, the advanced controls the Wii provides can imitate punching motions and headbutts.

It will be too far into the future for that sadly. I think the best we can hope for is that it's going to be Multiplatform and not an exclusive to one or the other, which would be insane. I have a few tips for how to get the money up if it's too much but I doubt you *really* came here for that kind of advice. ![]()

The only right to do with a PS3 or Xbox 360 is to take them to the junkyard. They are so horribly outdated, even if Bioware intended to release ME4 on those dinosaurs, there would be no benefit of the frostbite engine. In fact it would possibly look like Half-Life 1.
