How much do we want Joker and the Normandy to be in ME4?

Sorry if there's already a topic like this but I'm too lazy to search for it...

So I'm thinking: in ME4 or the game after that we could move to a bigger ship: like an Alliance cruiser or an Asari dreadnaught. But how attached are we as ME fans to the Normandy and it's illustrious pilot? Could future ME games take place on another ship or do people here generally want it to be the Normandy? And does the Normandy, or the other ship, have to be flown by Joker?

I've got no real opinion on this: I would welcome both, but I am curious about what the rest of you think...

Even though both the Normandy and Joker were awesome, I think there should be a new ship and a new wise cracking pilot in the next Mass Effect. I say this because we already have three games with them in it, I think it is time for something new. Also about the first thing you said, while I think having a big ship would be awesome I would prefer to ride around in a smaller ship, that way I would not have to walk around as much to talk to my crew.

Nope, not at all.

Forget about the Normandy, forget about all the old crew, it's time to move on. Citadel was great, but they were mining the same old sources of characterisation and humour by that point.

MENext is a chance to do something totally fresh.

@ psychevore: I don't know what you are trying to achieve with a comment like that, but it's not making you look cool or smart, it makes you look like an ass. Do that somewhere else, at your moms home, thank you.

Don't know what you're trying to achieve with a comment like that, because I'm not trying to look cool or smart. Looking like an ass is an occupational hazard.

I'm just giving voice to my feelings at the amount of bullshit that's going on here today.... and how every thought apparantly warrants a whole new thread.

Then do so in a civilised way and don't be a jerk about it.

Not at all.

Hell, I'd like no Crewmember/Squaddie returning.

If there is no Shepard, there can be no Joker. Sorry :(

Not at all.

I love the ME3 version of the Normandy, and enjoyed Joker as a character (and Seth Green's voice acting), but I'd rather both were left behind in Mass Effect: Next. The Normandy is Shepard's ship and there is no Normandy without Joker. I'd rather the new Captain, even if Alliance, has a new ship not named Normandy.

Besides, Joker should be promoted in the aftermath of The Reaper War. If Joker is mentioned at all I'd rather he was a Lt. Commander and a flight instructor at an Alliance military academy.

If Joker comes back, then all characters come back. If they do, it would be nice to have the Normandy back.

I'd be fine with a nice cameo of grandpa Joker talking about the old days. Actually, I'd love that!

About Normandy? Cameo would be nice too, with EDI on board still obviously. Maybe side/main quest giver too?

Not at all.  I liked joker, I liked the Normandy.  I never want to see either in a video game again.

Okay, I'm going full speculation mode here and obviously this is not what's going to happen in ME4 (I say ME4 until it gets a proper name deal with it), but here goes...

It's been two or three decades after the Reaper War. You are the Han Solo/Serenity type captain of a rogue crew... And the story opens with you getting a new ship... a revamped ex-Alliance/Cerberus spaceship... the new Normandy-SR2, now turned into a privateer class vessel.

One can dream... Mass Effect 7, maybe?

Nope. Neither. I don't want to see anybody from the Normandy. I don't want to see any squadmates from the previous trilogy either.

As much as I don't think this will ever happen, and that I agree that the series should try new paths, the comments in here are as if Star Wars fans, after seeing The Return of The Jedi, would say "I never want to see the Millenium Falcon again".

Even as a crazy crazy theorist that believes that we may be playing some sort of NeoShepard...

I don't want Joker to pilot the next ship. Or rather, I want it to be as optional as Ken and Gabby in ME3.

New ship too. Even if it might might might incorporate parts of the Normandy.

Even EDI aspects should be optional, at least mostly.

I know I probably don't make sense with this post. Basically - I want every connection to the Normandy SR-2 to be optional but still a choice, while the default path for new players joining the series in 2015+, is much more unrelated to the Normandy SR-2. Even while I'd probably cling to most aspects of the SR-2 that I can. Yes, join my ship Joker. Yes, EDI take control. Yes, fit in Normandy parts. It'll all make a better ship just like previous-game stuff made for a mostly better ME3.

Of course the more of the old that I cling to, the more of the new I should be forsaking in return. Maybe other ship parts are technically more advanced in many ways. Maybe not having Joker gets me a replacement that is better in some ways. Maybe not having EDI gets me an entirely different AI that is better and worse in its own special ways.

Think ME3 character/story replacements on overdrive. Aw yeah.

Awww, Hell no...

No return characters at all.

No Shepard.
No Joker.

No Normandy.

They need to get as far away form the afterbirth mess they left behind with the ME3 ending.

I've been an SW fan all my life.....

If Han wasn't piloting it, I wouldn't want to see the Falcon again. In fact, I'd prefer if neither was in the upcoming trilogy. Though I'm not surprised to see JJ Abrams doing the same thing with Star Wars that he did with Star Trek. Basically handcuffing the new trilogy to the old.

I'm sure we'll see a 2 hr movie with re-creations and callbacks of scenes from the originals. A bunch of fan-service in order to blind us from the fact that the movie really isn't that good. (or just to take our minds off the fact that we're being literally blinded by lense flare)

The future looks much brighter with Rian Johnson signing on to write and direct Episodes 8 and 9.

^ Well I kinda disagree with that mentality: old characters don't have to play a major role again but I don't want the next game to pretend like they never existed and that none of their stories had any importance. Preferably I want to see them having gone up in the world: maybe Joker is a captain now; Shepard from the red ending an admiral, Grunt a clan leader, and so on...

Uhhh who said I wanted them to pretend the original games never existed? I simply said I don't want to see any of the old crew or squadmates. It's a big galaxy. Bioware should try to stop making it seem so small.

As for Star Wars.....well, rumor is Harrison Ford is top billed. Aka the star of the film. JJ is just gonna bank on simple nostalgia.
