I wish I had had the option to kick Joker off the Normandy.
How much do we want Joker and the Normandy to be in ME4?

I don't ever want to see them again. Out with the old, in with the new. If they have a cameo, okay, but I don't get why people would want returning characters, ships, etc. for 4 whole games.

who said I wanted them to act like the original characters never existed?
I merely said I don't want to see any of them. At all. They had their time. They had their story. Those are my feelings about it. I'd prefer a clean slate. I never said I wished for them to be forgotten. I can always go back and experience the Shepard Trilogy whenever I feel the need. I'm ready for an all new adventure with all new people. I don't want anything rehashed for the sake of fan service.
I live in a relatively small town and I don't even run into people I went to high school with as often as we're running into the same squadmates on our little stops throughout the galaxy as Shepard. It just makes the game feel small in scope, no matter how they spin the story. Montreal deserves to let their creativity thrive. Make it their own.

I don't want to see every character back. This isn't ME3 where I feel every character should play some sort of big enough role.
But at least a few? Especially if optionally? Cool, I'm all for that, and a sense of some degree of narrative continuity while playing through all the games, even if Shepard's trilogy itself is over, and the developers do not necessarily have to include any particular character from the past.
Some would be nice though, yes. Old times. Back in the day. Remember when. These kinds of things harken back to old relationships that occurred and old concepts that you might have forgotten about. I like it.

Okay look: you said: 'who said that I want them to pretend that the orginal games never existed?' That is not what I said: you misread my post, I corrected you, that's all: there's nothing you have to defend yourself from.
Who said that the next game has to pretend that the old characters don't exist? You did: not showing them and starting with a clean slate is essentially that. No, not exactly that, but that is semantics.

I would prefer to kill the idiot, but kicking him off the ship would work as well.

Clearly I do need to defend myself because: No, I did not say that they should pretend they don't exist. Da fuq? Having a story without them is not the same thing as them not existing. I'm not sure where you get that from. It's not semantics at all. Just because Saving Private Ryan is about the war in Europe, doesn't mean that all the boys fighting the war in the Pacific never actually existed. You have a deluded way of interpretting things.
You're basically saying that if none of the old characters appear, that it equates to Bioware pretending they don't exist. That's funny.
Or you know, Bioware just wants to branch out and have us not run into the same 12 people all across the Milky Way.

You know as much as I enjoyed Joker and Normandy(both SR1 and SR2) I am ready for a new crew. I would like a new ship, new people to get to know. Simply new stuff. Also I would relish a chance to have a bit more meaningful interaction with the ship itself than what we had. Sure it was cool and all but an occasional space battle would not hurt.

I don't want any of them returning. I want the next ME game to be set a shitload of years after the events of the Trilogy, and the Reapers, Shepard and the rest of them to be history, a codex entry and nothing more.

I liked joker. But his attitude would make it impossible for him to get through Alliance training.

I meant to post a lengthy reply but instead I ended up creepily liking Mcfly616's every post. He or she has pretty much said everything I wanted to say.
Out with the old, in with the new. It's been fun but it's time to move on. J.J. Abrams is Voldemort.

Seth Green is an amazing comedian as well as a great voice actor. He fits Joker perfectly and brings that essence of personality, comic relief, and the ultimate friend that few can match. That being said, I don't want BioWare to just recycle popular companions from the past games, unless it makes sense. While Joker is a great character, I'd personally be interested to me new and interesting characters that can further expand the Mass Effect foundation of great, memorable characters.

I'm actually in the camp that doesn't like Joker. He was quite aggravating to listen to and not very funny.

Whatever ship we get is probably going to be better somehow than the Normandy, or at least, it will look better inside and out, 'cause design updates. As for the pilot, I don't want Joker or a Joker type character piloting the ship. The game will get stale quick if it starts emulating the personalities of the companions and other crew members we had in the original trilogy too closely.

I would never want a Joker-like. Real deal or nothin!
But if the story somehow (
) supports it, a choice of Joker if you want him. But this time he'll be much less important. Cutscenes able to support him or not, but less emphasis on him in main story scenes than he had in ME1-ME3 anyway. One can do totally fine without him, and ideally, would have a totally different pilot/pilot-type character to deal with when not having him.
Joker is just a catch-all example here, honestly. Following a hypothetical of a hypothetical.

I just read that it is confirmed that Me4 is a sidequel... So if that's true I guess there won't be a Normandy and Joker, seeing how they were already busy in the other trilogy. Very well... I hope that not-Normandy is a bigger one...

EDI is the final boss fight in ME4.
She/it's the new synthetic overlord you have to deal with after you zapp the Reapers.

Where'd you read this?
There's a lot of people claiming things have been confirmed. It usually turns out to be far from confirmed.

I wouldn't mind a cameo of Joker (and other old friends) and the Normandy, too, but I would definitely prefer the game to focus on new characters and a new ship. What I'd like even better is if we could choose from different types of ships and upgrade them, just as we do with different character classes.

Nope. I want something new. Yes, we will get "nods" to the familiar, but I would like if they were kept to a minimum. Otherwise, it could come off as pandering and somewhat cyncial.

I have absolute no desire to see any character from the original trilogy again. And that's not because I don't like them, it's exactly because of the opposite.
