I know these movies haven't been to everyone's taste...
... but silly name change aside, this is looking pretty great.

I've enjoyed The Hobbit quite well, and am excited for the conclusion of the saga. Man, three years sure went by fast...
Nice trailer. Really liked that added Pippin's song.
Aye, three years and over all too quickly. I've absolutely adored both films, I just get that a lot of people don't due to how different they are to LOTR, hence the OP.
And yup, that trailer. Nostalgic chills all over.
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
Some of you may not be able to tell, but I am quite excited. I'm just good at hiding it.
Full on chub. Dwarves riding Rams!

I am quite good at hiding it. We'll see how well that holds up on the road to December.

I too love The Hobbit films so I'm looking forward to this one.
I wonder why the name change though
Also Orlando Bloom and Not Orlando Bloom looking at each other lol
*snip*
Shingeki no Kyojin is spreading its influence everywhere.

'There and Back Again' was perfect IMO. Should have left it as is.
And of course-

And of course-
Almost like looking at a mirror lol

On that day, humanity received a grim reminder. We lived in the fear of the Dragons, and were disgraced to live in these cages we called lakes.
Silmarillion or GTFO. ![]()
Probably someone didn't find "There and Back Again" badass enough.I wonder why the name change though
God I would love that! But I think I recall Jackson stating that it would be impossible to do, or something. Wouldn't mind someone esle taking the helm, del Toro for example.Silmarillion or GTFO.
I only liked the first two LOTR films, the rest are too melodramatic and over the top for me. Except Smaug. They did a marvelous job designing Smaug.

Basically, as I heard it, between shifty licensing deals and changes to the original works, Christopher Tolkien, executor of the Tolkien estate doesn't want any more movies. You can find an interview on the matter here.
A quote so you get the idea-
This divorce has been systematically driven by the logic of Hollywood. "Tolkien has become a monster, devoured by his own popularity and absorbed into the absurdity of our time," Christopher Tolkien observes sadly. "The chasm between the beauty and seriousness of the work, and what it has become, has overwhelmed me. The commercialization has reduced the aesthetic and philosophical impact of the creation to nothing. There is only one solution for me: to turn my head away."
So long as he has any say in it (which I believe he does), Silmarillion will never happen.
Looking forward to the finale!
The downside is, what will happen to Peter Jackson and, for that matter, New Zealand afterwards?
Cheers,
New Zealand will be a wasteland ![]()
Can't say I look forward to this. I really did not like "Desolation of Samug".

I'm sure Jackson will be fine. He can just move somewhere nice and build a house out of money. Perhaps a small town if he's feeling frivolous.
In all seriousness, I think he said at comic con that he wanted to get a museum set up with all the film's props and sets on display.
