Biggest take away from this is that there will be things that are hidden, like caves that are hidden. So that'll be cool to see on the forums and stuff.

Yeah, once I'm done with my first blind, ignorant run of the game I'll come back here and probably leave with a notebook full of all the things I missed. That's why I love games like DAI and Skyrim. Always new places to go, things to find.

I love the way he described the game. I agree with his points, those are the things that make this franchise stand out. They should be proud of them!

It'll come up, for sure. A Human Inquisitor will certainly be a little more acceptable in certain social circles, for instance. There's certainly an awareness of your race throughout the game. While we're not doing a full-on Origin story - that was Origins' thing because we had a world to establish - we are doing our best to make sure that your race or your past does pop up whenever it's applicable.
You're always the Inquisitor first, but every once in a while somebody somewhere is going to take umbrage at something racial. 'An elf Inquisitor?! Brrr, what what what?!' All that kind of stuff, and that makes me smile.
Praise Jesus....

For me personally, if I had to boil it down to a single concept, it's the party. It's not just you; you're not a solo adventurer - you are part of a team. Teamwork in gameplay is a part of that. The fact that we have a bunch of rich characters is a part of that. The fact that the follows are probably the most beloved part of Dragon Age is a part of that. It all really comes back to the party.
Like like like.

My goal with Inquisition is to have stuff that people don't find. I actually sent out a little demand: every single level must have at least one cave no one ever tells me to go in. No quests, no pointers, nothing. I don't care where you put it: I don't want to know where it is! Obviously, the team took that to heart and went even further.
Hello additional ten hours of gameplay as I search every square meter of every area.

Great interview. Laidlaw is indeed the man. Loved hearing that the focus of the series is the party, and that they keep their principles first and foremost when considering feedback. Right on.

Pretty nice interview, Laidlaw's made a pretty cool move with the hidden content decree.

You may very well be able to draw an AOE line for the rogue rolling...but can it be done in the tactics without player intervention?
I love all the comments about the Frostbite overlap with other teams, what they're taking from other teams and what they're "pushing back" to the Frostbite developers. The "one engine to rule them all" approach fascinates me.
So he still considers this place Bioware Social?
I too hope that we see places of divergent content, but I hope Bioware doesn't take a big sign and say "HERE, LOOK HERE, EVERYTHING CHANGED BECAUSE OF THIS INSIGNIFICANT CHOICE" like certain other games have.
I wonder if they're still keeping in contact with Ray and Greg. It sounds like it. That would be nice.
I agree about other genres taking on RPG features, one such being Assassins Creed. It's really, really neat.
All the comments about the RPG debate make me smile, but I'll hold my tongue. I don't think you have to accept something as an RPG to enjoy it, necessarily.

If I remember correctly, one of the devs (Alan I think) said you can, but it can be a bit buggy causing you to roll of a cliff etc.

Really. Not trying to question you, but I would love a quote, or perhaps Allan himself addressing it.
All I recall is his comment from a year ago where he confirmed that it was indeed a targetable ability.

I don't remember where but I also remember Allan commenting saying that it could be buggy and flying off a cliff, it was in another topic on the forums where he mentioned it

On the Army Roll and Evade Abilities being set in tactics:
The move has some issues because picking an automatic direction can be problematic - no one wants to see their companion dodge roll right off of a cliff or into another more powerful attack. But it is something we want to deliver.
On using these abilities in tactical camera mode:
You can still use those abilities while in tactical camera. You activate the ability and pick a direction to move in. When you unpause/engage you'll execute the maneuver.

I framed that as one of the challenges of using an ability like that via tactics. Unfortunately I work less directly with the combat team at the moment so I don't know what the status is on whether or not something like that is working.
(Doing a lot of Gen3 system checks and doing things to help improve workflows for other QA members).
