I'm sure he's not the first Warden to do so.

I'm still don't know why you can't try to recruit someone other than Loghain.  And if Riordan had the means to recruit one person, why wouldn't he have started his search even before the Landsmeet?

Probably because if I could recruit a redshirt I'd have them kill the archdemon and call it a day XD

I guess the devs didn't want you to have an easy out to the DR.

Its just not about him. What about everything wrong he did? Isnt it unfair for them? What wrong have they done to deserve that?
Theres sth called justice which must be done. Execution was justice, but if it was possible i wud have kept him long enough for him to see his daughter be a slave in the alienage with the elves having their way with her. Then i wud send him to the children for judgement. Now that, i agree wud be vengeance.

@samahl- i applaud your cunning you carefully deleted the part where i said that it wud only be vengeance. Nice stuff man, the world needs more like you

Just for the record: I don't begrudge anyone who kills Loghain. We all have our own reasons for either keeping him alive or killing him - which is what makes him such a great character.

I killed him in my first 2 playthroughs, but then I decided to give him a chance and he turned into one of my favorite DA characters. That's how I feel about it and if someone doesn't agree with that then that's their right.

It would be boring if we all kept him alive or killed him ^_^

Everyone here understands that it's vengeance. That doesn't excuse it, and that you would want to, again, means that justice clearly isn't that high a priority for you.

Yeah that's the problem.

I gave an honest answer, what more do you want? Yes i would consider sending her to the elves as compensation to what her father did but my conscience wont let me. Because justice comes ahead of everything else.

Even so, he forsook his duty. I get that he was upset, but I still don't see how he didn't abandon you.

I don't see it as abandonment when you pretty much told him "there's the door".

At the most you did the same first and he returned the favor. It's just...you made your choice. There was no secret about what was going to happen.

(That and recruiting Loghain once Alistair makes the ultimatum is just so mindboggling stupid to me I can't justify it (wait I can squint and see it with hardened Alistair married to Anora but outside that nope) outside metagaming for my golden ending and even that has hardened Ali king he's a fall back of a fallback plan.)

I mean Riordan "there's compelling reasons to have more wardens."

"so...you're continuing to insist we get the one dude into the wardens that Alistair has said he's gonna bounce if recruited leaving us with the same amount of wardens we began with in the BEST scenario and less if he chokes it instead of...the droves of soldiers outside?"

"Yah"

I said i wud consider it, as vengeance stands, " An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, the price of blood must be paid in full.'

I also said its extreme and injustice to punish the daughter for her dad's crime. Rationality wud speak so.

LOL okay. Show me where he backstabs someone. And if you bring up Cailan again I feel sorry for the children you shall sire some day.

I read in DA wiki that in a novel Flemeth warns Maric that loghain will betray again and again, each time worse than the last.

Warning somebody that you're abandoning them in advance doesn't make it any less abandonment though. I'm not sure why you think being open about your reasons for leaving someone to fight an apocalypse you swore an oath to prevent somehow makes it okay.

I just read both of those first two novels recently.

I'm still not sure when Loghain supposedly betrays Maric.

Where did you say this? And if you really believed this, why would you even entertain the idea of doing that to Anora in the first place?

And the same dude who was reveling in his slander that the wardens killed the king. Are all wardens so shameless? No wonder ppl in that other thread want to destroy the GWs.

For all of alistair's supposed childishness, he atleast has the balls to stand up for what's right.

So you lied in your original post. Also...

Honest answer: I would consider it but my conscience wudnt let me.

Even then, it's frightening that you would even consider it.

I dont see where i lied.

So i wud be doing the same thing to anora that loghain has done to so many elves. Yet you do not condemn him and instead you are fascinated by him and by his supposed greyishness.

It's not okay but neither are many of the decisions the wardens can make. It is however an abandonment done in reaction to your PCs pretty much telling you they'd pick someone they knew over 10 minutes over him. I mean...I don't get why people are trying to make their PCs out to be the victim in this. It's something you brought on yourself.

It also doesn't help that Alistair could've easily left because he didn't want to end up killing Loghain anyway (with hardened Alistair...I can see that) and disrupt the Warden's group.

Also again people leave the wardens. Betrayal or not it happens. (And actually the wardens don't complain about it that much from what we've seen with Alistair's dealings with Stroud and such because they know they'll all end up in the same place). He clearly regrets it.

No, I think we are supposed to see some of the events we are aware of, such as Katriel's death in 'The Stolen Throne' and then Calian's death in DA:O as Loghain betraying Maric but I don't agree.

I don't care that much about Loghain. I just take issue with a lot of your arguments.

I'm not saying that the bad decisions Wardens can make are okay either...? All I was arguing was that Alistair abandons you. That's it. The Warden can do far worse, but those decisions aren't relevant to this topic.

I'm trying to highlight how the PC pretty much gets away with everything and no one bats an eye but a NPC dares to leave the PC for doing something they asked them several times not to do it leads to HOW DARE HE. It missed the mark XD

After you pretty much do it first. (which really is why I don't see it as a betrayal/abandonment. You do it first. Complaining about someone doing the same to you just feels petty to me). Reminds me of those who's reaction to Isabela and the tome is to sell her out to the Qunari after she comes back with it.

Just...wut?

He doesn't pack his bags because you decided to go left over right. He ditches you after you pretty much tell him he's worth less to you after everything he's done than Loghain.
