The books have been building up Orlais and Celene to be a big deal. The Masked Empire is mostly about Celene and how she has to keep herself in power, even if it means squashing Briala's elf friends. Leliana, the new head of the Divine, appears in the book, too, and meets with Celene to help quell the rivalry between the templars and mages.

Plus, the DAI website says people believe Morrigan has been teaching Celene the dark arts.

Also, we get to finally visit Orlais in DAI.

So, who is expecting Celene to AT LEAST make an appearance in DAI?

Personally, I really hope she does and I hope she has a huge part. So much lore has been written about her, so it would be awesome to finally put a face and voice to her. I will be very disappointed if she doesn't appear...

I think she's been confirmed.

The general consensus is that you will probably have to choose between supporting Celene or Gaspard.

I think she will definitely make an appearance. Wasn't it mentioned that one of the possible ending variations was our choice of who sits on the Orlesian throne?

That would make sense. Celene all the way.  :D

What is Gaspard's view of the elves? I haven't really finished the book yet.

Why don't you finish it and find out?

I'm assuming he doesn't like the elves if he thinks Celene acts too weak with the rebellion.

Definitely and Gaspard as well. It's almost a give. I just hope they model her after Iggy Azalea and let us have a romantic interaction with her  ...I can dream right?

Iggy Azaela? Why?

Is Celene bisexual? I got the impression she could lean either way, depending whatever is most pragmatic at the moment.

I expect both Celene and Gaspard to make an appearance in Inquisition, since Orlais is one of the locations the protagonist can visit. I'm hoping an elven Inquisitor can exact vengeance over what happened to the people of Halamshiral, and nullify the threat posed by the Orlesian Empire; I'm not even slightly inclined to support either one for the Orlesian throne.

I don't think he has anything against elves specifically. I'll just say that he's the kind of guy that will respect you and even admire you so long as you prove yourself honorable and worthy of his respect, no matter what race you are. Does that mean he would be willing to grant elves equal rights? Probably not since that would cause disorder in the empire, and his goal is order and unity. But Celene not too different in that respect.

I'd honestly be shocked if she doesn't appear.

That's not true. Celene and Sera are lesbians and Dorian is gay. Morrigan and Alistair are heterosexual.

Celene is a lesbian? I thought she was bisexual. IIRC It said in the book she would be willing to marry a man if it was pragmatic. Though I understand that marrying a man doesn't necessarily mean you're sexually attracted to the person, but it would make one lousy marriage if you didn't have any sexual attraction.

FYI, being able to romance everyone in the game doesn't necessarily mean they're bisexual. You get a part in creating a story, so if your male character mates with a female character while also having the option to mate as a female character -- you just haven't explored that part of the story yet. Does that make sense?

It'd be a marriage expressly for the purpose of political alliances, not out of love, though. Celene would marry a man if she thought it would give her a better position amongst the nobles, a tactical advantage in the midst of The Game, rather than simply ruling alone. A marriage for her is simply a matter of convenience, not love or really much more than simple affection. Between the letters in Cailan's chest at Ostagar and some discussions in the book, there's an implication that if she thought it benefited her and her position and standing with the nobles, she'd marry someone, but as of The Masked Empire, there's no one who she would marry because it would cause other groups to turn on her - a sort of 'so long as no one does have her, everyone thinks they could have her' kind of thing, that forging that kind of alliance with anyone at that point in time would alienate enough of the others to leave her vulnerable.

But she explicitly loves Briala, her elven handmaiden, but not explicitly stated what her sexuality is, though between Orlais being fairly open and her training as a Bard, I'm open to referring to her as poly/omnisexual (whichever term you want to use), but some of the dialogue in the book seems to imply at the least a preference for women.

I'm sure Saddam Celene and Gaspard will at least make an appearance. The real question is whether you'll be forced to pick a side or can give both of them the finger and side with the Elves.

You're acting like that hasn't been a common occurance.

Celene doesn't have to even like her future consort. She just has to use him enough to get an heir and then she can go back to ravishing her next elven "Friend"

How does that have anything to do with what I said? Did you quote the wrong person or something?
