Shouldn't Elves be worried?

They already have a dwindling population and most of the Elves are those that live in the Cities which are owned and run by Humans. What makes matters worse is that if an Elf mates with a Human, who are far more numerous, they produce a Human child.

Shouldn't that be troubling to Elves, especially the Dalish?

Would this even be brought up in DA:I since it seems like Fiona, the mother of Alistair, is hinted as being in this based upon where she currently is when DA:I starts.

It has been brought up. City elves arrange marriages between different alienages to keep up numbers and keep gene pools mixed, and Dalish are at least not the nicest to humans born to their kin (They let Feynrial and his mom live with them but if they were all that nice about it why would she have left in the first place?) And merrill expresses her worry about not having elven kids to a male hawke she romances.

I think it depends on the clan, Feynrial's mom left the clan to be with Vincento but that didn't turn out so well since he didn't want anything to do with her.. so she stayed in Kirkwall in order to avoid any persecution by her clan even though that may not have happened since they welcomed Feynrial. (that's how i understand what happened from what we hear in the game)

Yes, that's why there's a strong bias against elves partnering with humans. Those who do so are regarded as "flat-ears."

I'm pretty sure Elves are endangered at this point.

I'm pretty sure every elf we've met in Thedas mentions being worried about this at some point.

I haven't really seen many elves mention human mingling as a huge issue or that the child produced is 100% human.

However, we've seen that Humans can get in between that with the City Elf Origin. Seemed like they were trying to nt only have fun buy carelessly knock up the Brides as well.

Elves are considered "flat-ears" by the Dalish because they live among humans. Getting with humans has nothing to do with it.

But the Dalish also freely accept city elves who wish to come live with them, and are quite accommodating. You see this in the Dalish origin when you meet Pol.

I don't think interbreeding with humans would be that much of a worry for the elves considering humans generally treat them like crap, it'd be more rare to have a human/elf couple.

Is this why there was so much backlash against Sera being a lesbian? I mean besides the obvious.

Elves are also considered flat ears by city elves when they leave the alienage. In the Masked Empire some city elves used it to refer to the human children of other elves that lived in Halamshiral.

Should they be worried? No, In fact they should embrace it.

They are merely being assimilated into the victors culture in a ...more literal manner then most.

Pretty much. It's not so much Sera being a lesbian (at least in my opinion) as it is the fact that she's the only female elf romance and she's not available to male elves. I'm sure that both Cassandra and Josephine will be great romances but they are still humans.

In fact, all of the romance options for male PC are human (with the exception of Iron Bull). It's becoming a trend in DA games that I'm kind of getting sick of. In Origins you only had Morrigan and Leliana (who I like) who were humans. Da2 I don't count because 1. You were forced to be human and 2. I loathe Da2. Nothing I can do about it just hope that the next game has more race selections.

You mean among the fans, or her people? If you mean her people, I suppose it's possible Sera may have faced backlash among some of the city elves for not wanting to be in an arranged marriage with a man, which may have lead to her rogue lifestyle among the Friends of Red Jenny. If you're talking about the players, I think some people simply wanted to have the opportunity to romance an elven companion with a male elven protagonist, given how the two have common ground as members of a marginalized group. Personally, I was hoping Sera was available, as I thought her seemingly jubilant and fun persona would have been a nice contrast to my planned stoic elven Inquisitor. I'm happy for the fans who can romance Sera, however.

I don't think the Dalish would be that welcoming of the offspring of one of their own and a human.    Feynriel was an exception, partly because Marethari owed Hawke a favour and partly because of the fact that he was a dreamer and therefore his gift could be regarded as elven even if he was not.     His mum did not originally belong to that clan; her clan rejected her.    The Dalish may be willing to accept elves coming to them from the cities but they do not seem as forgiving of their own clan who choose to go the other way.    This is logical because they do not regard city elves as true elves - only those who reject human culture and return to the old ways.    So a clan member who rejects their culture, particularly to go with a human, is going to be an outcast.

In one of the city elf endings in DAO Soris marries a human and has to leave the alienage and goes to Highever (I think) where I believe it says he lived a happy life with his bride.   We were told that when a marriage takes place of elves from different alienages both sides get something from it, either new blood or the dowry.   I think Soris met with disapproval because his alienage gained nothing from his union, either in terms of new blood or wealth.   The prejudice is partly understandable if the children of such a union are going to be human.    If this became commonplace then the elves as a race would die out.

I would imagine that if a elf became pregnant as the result of rape, then the community might be less critical, since it would not be her fault.     However, either sex choosing to mate with a human instead of with an elf would be seen as something of a betrayal, particularly since it would seem that their elders arrange partners for them.

The trend has certainly been for humans and elven romance options in all the Dragon Age games with a male protagonist, for some reason. All the romance options for a male Inquisitor are Andrastian human women. While I do respect Bioware for making great strides in providing options for straight, gay, and bisexual players, I don't think it would hurt to be a little less Andrastian human-centric.

In fact, all of the romance options for male PC are human (with the exception of Iron Bull). It's becoming a trend in DA games that I'm kind of getting sick of. I think there's an understand frustration from some people who would prefer some more diversity in the romance options, like the inclusion of a female dwarven love interest, especially after the exclusion of dwarven women in Dragon Age II.
